Can I send husband in alone with 2 sons or should I go too?

I don't WANT to go, but am wondering if my 8 and 10 year old sons will need more assistance than one adult can supply.

Thanks!
Sharla

DisneyQuest is 5 stories high, and there are elevators and stairways the connect the floors. If your husband plans on keeping your sons in the same area, and they promise to stay in the same area, I'm sure they will be OK. However, if they roam away from your husband, it could take a bit to locate them.

Guess it really depends on your boys.

Hope this helps!

We just got back and I would agree with this poster. My boys are 6 and 9 and they were able to have a SUPER time with their dad. I did go in and enjoyed doing some of the games as a family (Pirates of the Carribean, The raft ride - don't remember what it is called, and the "human pinball" game). We all had great laughs but I did leave early and went shopping.
ENJOY!

from the time my son was about 9, he was perfectly able to negotiate through himself. we found the "big rides" were ones we've only really needed to do once; (we do like the aladdin one). i've only actually been needed one time; when some older kids weren't leaving a snowboard game when their time was up, and I had to do the "move along, buster" parent routine.

If you have a cellphone, you might let them go in; and have hubby holler for help if he needs reinforcements.

At 8 and 10 most kids are old enough and responsible enough to stay where they are told. You might tell them to stay on one floor and then you will move as a family to the next floor, etc. Some things are better experienced as a family (you wouldn't want to do the river raft with a boat load of strangers for example). My only other suggestion is for mom not to blow this one off. I am a ?? year old mother (hint: my children are 24, 22, and 18) and I LOVED Disney Quest. I normally don't enjoy arcades, but then this really isn't an arcade, now is it?

Thanks for all of your responses! I'll reconsider joining the my family at Disneyquest.

I just love this place! My kids were 8 & 10 the first time we went and they both had two way radios. We all kept in touch that way. I liked to sit down with a drink and a slice of cheesecake and watch all the people or get on the internet. The kids were all over that building. I felt they were perfectly safe. Have fun!:p

What we do is let DS (8 this past trip, 9 as we speak) on his own inside DQ, but he has to stay on a specified floor. He can't move to another floor without letting us know, and likewise, if I go to another floor I'll let DS know where I'll be. So far that's worked out for us, but that's with only one child to keep up with.

Had to "edit." Just saw the posts about the cheesecake! Oh, my, it's wonderful! Diet? What diet?

I think it also depends on when you plan to visit Disney Quest. If you'll be there on a weekend at night, you might want the extra pair of eyes because it gets pretty crowded. If you make sure that the kids stay together, then it should be okay.

Also, the raft ride and the pirate ride are a lot of fun for a family to do together. Sadly, I missed the cheesecake when we were there recently (good reason to go back soon!)

The Cheesecake Factory has pretty good coffee too.

When we're in DQ, the kids actually have to come find ME! Way back in the 80's I was a youth minister to a bunch of really snotty junior hi boys. My strategy: I became really, really proficient at one game: Galaga, and I could whip their butts at it. So I got some respect :smooth:

So now, when I go to DQ the kids roam all over (and always know where to come find ME. Right in front of the Galaga game, still whipping the butts of all these young guys who don't know how to do one of the "old" games.

I make my kids stay together (DS was 15 and DD was 8) and he has a cellphone. We go do the family rides when the waiting time isn't long, and then split up.

I wanted to say that the 8yo should be in your sight at all times while the 10yo can go off on his own* but I believe that a child let loose at Disney Quest could just as easily get into difficulty as when let loose in one of the theme parks. The primary threat is others harming him with a close second being his creating mischief. Nowadays I consider 12 as a reasonable age for a kid to hold his own park ticket and/or go off on his own.

* I was riding the subway (Boston) all by myself at age 9.
