I'm new to this forum and my fiance and I have just decided to marry at Disneyland Anaheim. We are super excited and it's always been my dream, but it's going to be so expensive! Does anybody have any tips, tricks, or ideas to help me out on how to save costs? Thanks so much!

hi and welcome! We had a DLR wedding last year. There are a couple of us here that had DL weddings who can hopefully help you out! Where are you thinking of having your ceremony and reception? That will help to narrow down where you can save.

We are having our ceremony at the rose garden and the reception inside the DL hotel. Although the Paradise Pier hotel looks really cute for a reception too. :teeth: We are also doing a lunch, or possibly brunch for pricing reasons.

well, since you are not having your events inside the parks, you can certainly use outside vendors for floral and entertainment!

our wedding was anything but budget...lol, but stuff we DIY'ed were make our own favors, programs, table names, & placecards...I made my own veil, and my mom, aunt, sister, and cousin did our personal flowers. You don't have to have the most expensive cake or meal, either. We had a lot of extras too like the coach, major domo, characters, etc...

I had a DL wedding in 2003. Our ceremony was at the Rose Court Garden with the reception in the Trillium Room at the GCH. Is your reeption going to be in the Pavillion, Garden or Marina Rooms?

Like Cryssi mentioned since you are having your wedding at one of the hotels you can use outside vendors for things like photography, videography, musicians, dj, floral, linens, etc. You just need to make sure that you meet your minimums. To keep our costs down we didn't have the coach (sniff) but that's ok as we still had a wonderufl wedding. Another way to keep costs down is to ahve have your wedidng on a weekday. Ours was on a Monday, early afternoon. When we were hiring our vendors we asked if any offered weekday incentives (ie: discounts) and all did. This helped to save us some $.

Enjoy your planning as your wedding will be here sooner than you realize. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

My DF and I are looking into having an intimate wedding at WDW and having a full blown reception at DL six months later. Can anyone tell me about how much JUST a reception at DL costs?

I'm a Disneyland Bride (its great to see more Disneyland brides here!!)...ceremony at the Rose Court Garden and reception at the Pavilion. I'm saving some money by doing a lot of DIY stuff-unity candle, invitations, programs, etc. but I also enjoy doing it.

I have a request. Could the DL brides do more of an FAQ, start planning journals, do recaps? I know cyssi did some. I would like to start a thread for you guys to post all of your tips and tricks on since a DL wedding is so different than WDW. We can sticky it at the top of the forum.

ok Jonette, I'll contribute! :)

Hey guys, the Disneyland FAQ thread is stuck at the top of the forum. Please post information like locations for ceremony/ receptions if you guys have any pics, etc. Your experiences, planning sessions, photographers if you used outside, all of the good scoop!

Thanks!

Jonette
