Disneyland Tinker Bell (Tinkerbell) 1/2 Marathon ** Jan 27-29, 2012 ** Check-In

TRAINING?!?

Was I supposed to be training? Oops.

Hopefully I will survive since I am also doing the WDW Marathon Relay on 1/8!

My training sort of slacked off since the DL 1/2 in September...luckily I'm just a walker though!

I'm sort of bummed that the late hours at DL are on the night that racers will need to be in bed. Poor planning, IMHO.

I haven't trained as well. My time has been spent adopting my new son from Korea. U would b surprised on all the things u have to go through to adopt. I am running the goofy in a week then tink and I'm so out of shape. Lol

That makes me feel better!

I agree with you about the Sat hours. I wish it was Sunday instead. I know I'll hear the park calling me Saturday night! :rotfl2:

Congrats on your new son!!!!

Good luck next weekend guys! Hope the weather is good for you. Wish I was going w/ you, but I'll be there next year.

Hello Tinker Bells! :tink:

I just found this thread -- don't get over to the DL boards much. :lmao: I seem some familiar faces from the WISH boards but wanted to post about our meet on Saturday.

WISH meet on Saturday, 1/28/12 at 4:00 pm on the first post of our thread. The meet is at 4:00 p.m. and pictures at 4:30 p.m. It is at the fountain in front of the entrance to the Grand Californian at DTD -- we will move to the overhang in case of inclement. There is also a link to the Event on Facebook. There is a WISH group on Facebook that you can join, if you haven't already. Hope to see you all there!

Remember that some of us will also be at the W reunion tent pre and post race.
:tinker:

Hoping to see you all there! :tink:

I haven't been training either, I am fit and exercise regularly... but I began a new job and life took over and before I knew it we are now less than a month out! I am a run/walker since a back injury (which I have been fully released from) but this will be my first race in 14 years!!!!! and my daughter who is 17 and an elite soccer player is also running it she will smoke me and there is a running joke she is going to be sitting back relaxing as I come crawling across the finish line... Lord help me I hope I just don't get swept!

I ran the Disneyland Half in September and a Half in Vegas the first weekend of December with maybe 3-4 5K's in between. I have't run since the Vegas Half. I have decided no more winter races for me. I really like running outside vs. the treadmill and I won't run in the dark. I'm sure I'll finish but I'll be close the the time limit.

I agree! We were doing so much better at training during the summer when we were outside! Now due to holidays and job hunting/finding/then better job madness we are even missing our maintenance runs! Its so much harder trying to get them done when we have to take turns on our treadmill. We were out of town over the weekend and so will have to try doing our 11.5 miler tonight after work at my company's gym. I'm a little worried since its the new year that we won't be able to snag a spot though - I'm certain lots of good resolutions will make it very busy! :flower3:

Of course, I donated to Tony's fund for GKTW. I hope I get to say hi to most of you. Good luck to all!

As Cynthia mentioned, our own Disneyland Podcaster, Tony Spittell, will be running for Give Kids the World. http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/disdlteam/marathon

We are planning a big, multi-part DIS Meet on 1/2 day, starting with a ChEAR Squad at 5:30am and finishing up at the Tangaroa Terrace after everyone gets cleaned up after the race (around 11am).

We would love to have everyone join us, not just our DIS DL Podcast fans. In fact, we will be joined by the host of our Orlando Podcast and owner of the DISboards, Pete Werner, and Orlando team member, Walter Echols. It's a great chance to meet other DISers, contribute to a great organization, and maybe win a prize for your contribution!

I'll have more details in a later post and possibly a separate thread about it up later this week! Would love to see you all!!!!

I'll be there to cheer Tony on. I already donated to Give Kids the World, and I'm lôôking forward to seeing Tony run in his tutu for this cause. :)

Looking forward to meeting those of you DISers who'll be there!

Ooo, thanks for the info on the DIS meet on Sunday!

Don't forget to be on the lookout for WISH team members. I've yet to see a LGMH at any park but these shirts are pretty easy to spot:

Also don't forget about the WISH meet on Saturday. Any Diser is welcome to join us.

I'm getting so excited! :yay:

Hi everyone!
I've updated the opening list. Sorry I've been neglecting my list making responsibilities a bit. :)
Hope everyone had a fabulous end of 2011!

Wanted to share a few things at the end in case others have lost the info in the threads.

There is a WISH thread on the WISH board for the Tinkerbell run and I just joined on there. There is a lot of talking and helpful info on that thread in case you are looking to chat a bit more about the race. Find it at:
Official Tinker Bell Half Marathon 2012 WISH Thread

Also, there is a web link for your waiver & bib #...found here:
Bib & Waiver Link

Then, we have a thread for posting your bib number...

Also, please remember about oc_tony's fundraiser challenge...can you help put him in a tutu???

Hope everyone's training is going well! I'm getting very excited to complete my first 1/2 marathon and experience a "real" race atmosphere!

I just updated the official DIS MEET thread with another meet on Thursday night - the DIS VILLA MEET. It's a chance to meet other DISers, the DL Podcast Team members, and have some snacks!

It's also a chance to contribute to Give Kids the World - a great organization that helps terminally ill children live their biggest dreams, just like we do every vacation!

Take a look and hope you can join us!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the fun meets! :tink:

Please add me to the half list. I'm staying at the GC. Thanks! :goodvibes

I'm so mad at myself
I signed up for the Tinkerbell 1/2 and Neverland 5K months ago! But got caught up in life...got pregnant twice and lost both...and have since put off training in hopes of becoming pregnant again. It hasn't happened yet...and now there's pretty much no way I can do the 1/2 :guilty: I am still participating in the 5K - will probably walk most of it and maybe jog a little - even with no training I'm pretty sure that will be no problem! But for the 1/2, I will at least be a spectator!

So sorry to hear this. What about walking the 1/2??? The pacing requirement is a 16 min mile.

I thought perhaps you could transfer your registration, but the deadline for that was 12/15. At least they offered that.

If you end up not being able to run on Sunday, please come join your fellow DISers at the meet in the first post of this thread! We would love to have you and it's a chance to win some fun prizes!
