Disneyland Tinker Bell (Tinkerbell) 1/2 Marathon ** Jan 27-29, 2012 ** Check-In

BUMP! How's everyone's training going?

Great! How's your's going? Ran the Nike 1/2 on Sunday and have the Honolulu Marathon early Dec, so hoping to PR w/ Tinkerbell.

Medievaldave~ Good luck w/ Goofy in Jan! That's on my calendar for '13.

If anyone is looking for airfare for race weekend, Southwest is having a huge sale right now and race weekend is in it!! The nice thing is that it's the mileage sale so LAX and SNA are the same price. Just booked a roundtrip for $91 from San Jose!!! :woohoo: It's probably cheaper than the gas and a fraction of the time. Little worried about flying down though~ never flown to DL before (always driven) and I'm afraid I'm going to fall in love w/ the ease and convience of flying and never want to drive down again!! :rotfl2:

We're almost under 100 days!!:banana::banana:

Hi: I'm new to the boards (sorry if this is a double post). My cousin and I (33 & 30 y/o no kids) are brand new to running and signed up for the Neverland 5k. We are staying at the Grand California. Any other beginning runners signed up for the Neverland 5k.

Congrats to all who are signed up for the 1/2. My knees are killing me after 2 weeks of training with "couch to 5k" (the iphone app). More power to you guys and gals!

Me too! I'm going with 4 of my good friends (one of whom is a frequent runner) but the rest of us don't run at all. I think I'm more prepared then the other 3, since I walk roughly 6-8 miles everyday just at work.

We plan to take it easy though and stop for all the character photos.

anyone dressing up for the marathon or 5k? I'm sure there will be a lot of tinkerbells. Anyone ever heard of Team Sparkle? I can't post the link (I dont have 10 posts yet) but it's a pretty cool site and they have fun running gear.

I'm not going in full costume, just accessories. I get to hot and would be ripping it off by mile 5!! :rotfl2: And I think I'm all done too! For the 1/2, I have a lime green running shirt(matches DIS/WISH too) and black capris (or long tights if it's cold). For accessories, I have some green tinted body glitter that glows in the dark (good for both races :goodvibes), a skinny green mesh boa from Halloween to attach to the underneath of my running belt, little Tink stud earrings and green shoe laces for my shoes. Also found this little lovely on the Disney Store website last week and it's on it's way to me right now:

I figured I could attach it on top of my running hat w/ bobby pins.

As for the 5k... Mr. Smee popped into my head this week. So I think I'm going w/ that. I'm thinking cut off sweats for the bottoms and a long red beanie for the hat, b/c I have a feeling that 10:30 on a January night could be cold and it'll keep me warm.

I agree w/ you about a lot of Tinkerbells.

I was at the Spirit Halloween Store earlier in the week and they had a Tink costume w/ a light-up dress and I was thinking of making it a skirt over my capris, but they only had smalls left so no go. Here's the link for Team Sparkle if anyone's interested:

I think instead of a Twilight Ticket that should have a viewing of World of Color before the race just for runners.
That'd be nice. My one experience in Dec 2010 with WOC was terrible and we skipped it in Oct, so we didn't have to deal with the chaos and disappointment again.

Wow! Sounds so great! I'm kind of new to running (2-5k, 1st 1/2) and I can't imagine having anything attached to me! :) I can't wait to see everyone. I'm thinking of a purple & green running outfit and thought of body glitter, but that's it. :)

I finally purchased a treadmill (I know, I know...please let's not do the outdoor run vs treadmill debate :upsidedow). The weather in Seattle this time of year is a little gross and is not helping me accomplish my training plan.

We've only got 69 days - about 10 weeks before the race!
I'm updating the runner list right now!
Good luck with your training! YOU can do it!

I would suggest BW Stovall's if looking for a budget friendly option. I think the race will be a lot of fun!

I just booked a room at BW Stovall's. Their 30 day advance purchase rate is only $84.00. :thumbsup2

I'm signed up for the 5k, my Mom and I signed up yesterday.

Hi Courtney! Hopefully we can find a chance to meet up. My mom and I will be there Saturday and Sunday.

Not going to lie!!!!!! I havent ran since the Disneyland Half. LAZY. the problem is that i have goofy before Tink at WDW

I hadn't ran since the Disneyland Half either until this past Monday and I'm running the Las Vegas Rock and Roll Half in 16 days. :scared1: Oops! :rotfl: At least the R&R has a 4 hour time limit, I may need it.

I'm dressing up as Peter Pan. I really want to be Tink but I know there will be so many.

Sarah, yes please! I'd love to see you and your Mom again.

I'm thinking of dressing like Tiger Lily.. I need to find a brown tunic thing.

WOW!! It’s great to see so many people being a part of the Disney Half Marathon. I’m hoping to do one of the marathons as well!

I wanted to remind all of you that we have a 25% discount available from January 23-29, 2012 for those of you participating in the marathon (this is a 25% discount from our regular room rate for that time). When making a reservation, let our in-house reservations team know that you are participating in the marathon, or mention the discount code LKEA, and we’d be happy to help you get the discount.

Good luck to all of you!

DD and I are coming for our first visit to Disneyland for the Tinkerbell Half Marathon. We are going for the Coast to Coast medal. Our other race is the Princess Half. We are "perfect princesses," since we have done all the races since the inaugural. I don't think that we can do all the Tinkerbell Half Marathons, though. It is a lot more expensive for us to get to California since we are coming from South Carolina. As far as outfits, we are dressing as Tinkerbell, since that is what we had planned for this year's Princess. (Last year we were dressed as Minnie Mouse). At the Princess, I think the majority of the racers wear some type of costume. It helps pass the time out on the course for someone as slow as I am to look at the different costumes. Some are hilarious! I hope lots of runners dress up for the Tinkerbell. It adds to the fun. Now that I've said all that, I guess I need to start working on our costumes. I've had the material for two months!

I'm mostly a walker and I haven't even done much of that since the DL 1/2 in September...oops! And I am also signed up for the Marathon Relay at WDW three weeks before I am doing this race.

Guess I better start moving!! :yay:

Hi. I just found this thread and am so excited for all the runners and walkers. This will be my 4th Disney half marathon but first (obviously) Tinkerbell half marathon. She is my favorite character so can't wait for it! Also going for my second coast to coast with the Princess being my second race. I love that one. Have all my goodies from Team Sparkle to wear along with wings. Of course, I donated to Tony's fund for GKTW. I hope I get to say hi to most of you. Good luck to all!

We will be there...all signed up, training going great until last Thursday something happened to my hip/butt, not sure what is going to happen! We are staying at PPH!

If anyone still needs a flight, I got an email from Southwest about deals and that weekend's included. From SJ, there were a couple of flights for $59 for each way.

Less than 2 months!! :yay:

Hey everyone! Hope training is going well!!

Don't know if everyone got the email or saw the posts on the WISH thread, but they sent out another email last week and they put the race program on the race site. The posted some of the park hours ~ Friday, DL is 8-8/DCA is 10-9, Saturday, DL is 9-12/DCA is 10-9, Sunday, DL is 9-10/ DCA is 11-9.

They also posted the map for the 5K. We get to start on Main Street!! :yay: No running through the castle, but it's almost all through the park, the only part outside of the park is when we exit by Splash and run around the entrance backstage by the Dinorama and under the tram area into DCA. We finish same place as the DL 5K~ b/w LM and WOC. (Tried to upload the image, but I couldn't save the map from the site or the program. Sorry!) And if you look at the program w/ the map route, I think the 5K medal/shirt is the same as the image next to the map.

So excited! Only 6 more weeks!!!
