I've read all the sites on doing Disney with diabetes but had a few more questions.

  • You can store insulin at the First Aid Station like DW correct?
  • If so - do you need to show ID to get it back? Or do you just ask for it? I'm wondering if Grandpa can pick it up or if it has to be me.
  • Does it need the pharmacy label on it or would they be willing to store a small bag in the fridge?
  • Which first aid station is the most centerally located?

Thank you.

At DLR you can definitely store your insulin in the FA office inside the park. I would recommend having a pharmacy label on the baggie, even if that means having the pharmacy print out a label to put on the bag. If you want grandpa to pick up the insulin for you I would attach a note to the bag saying who is authorized to pick them up.
In DLR i believe there is only one FA office located on the right side of Main St behind a corn dog stand on the right side when looking at the castle. IDK where FA is located within DCA. Thankfully I have never needed it there!!
If you have more specific questions it would be a good idea to call the parks FA office for answers. Good luck and have fun on your trip!

The first aid center at DCA is located on the Wharf, it is pretty much the middle of the park.

Honestly, I would just carry the insulin with you. (in a small cooler bag or better yet a Frio bag). I would find it totally annoying to walk back to get it every time your daughter wanted a snack or a meal. We've been do WDW in the summer and we've never had insulin 'go bad' as long as it was in a frio in our back pack. Now my son pumps, but back in the day...we just carried it around. I know DW isn't huge like WDW but any extra walking just to have a snack is too much LOL.

Thank you all for the advice! I never realized I could ask them to print a second label. We pump (omnipod) and use a frio pouch but have still had insulin 'go bad' from the heat and have noticed we get better numbers if I draw it up out of the cold bottle then let it warm up to room temp in the syringe. But there's always the fear of forgetting it there. Maybe I'll try what you suggest and I'll put the frio in a little cooler and see how it holds up.

oh , I totally get that. We also pump but we never actually bring insulin into the park with us anymore. But a pod is difference because you can't just slap a new one on if yours goes bad. I bring site changes with me but generally not insulin (outside of what's in the pump).

I don't know if this would help you or not :) My son also uses an Omnipod, and we carry a spare pod and one of the cartridges for a Novopen Jr. It's smaller than a whole vial of Novolog, so it fits easily in the case we use for his PDM. I've never used a Frio, but we travel in the winter, so it's not too much of a problem. Keeping it warm enough on our last trip was more of an issue for us :lmao:

We did use the first aid place by the Crystal Palace for pod changes, just because he was so little at the time. Now that he's older, and will stand still while we change it, I probably won't bother going to first aid.
