Disneyland Resort Picture of the Day #5!!

You all make me want to be a better photographer.

Lana :)

Same here! I looked at this thread a lot before my last trip. Then looked at my pictures. Then looked at this thread. Then decided I HAD to buy a new camera!!!! :rotfl2:

I have always believed that the camera is a tool, but the photo is made by the person behind the lens. Sure, you can get wider, closer, sharper etc but the camera does not set the exsposure(not much challenge to automatic) compose the photo, choose the subject. my thoughts.

This is so true.
I thank all for sharing your talents with us.

That's what I kept telling myself when all I had was my point and shoot :rotfl:

Sharper and clearer is what I wanted. More control over the depth of field. And to be able to take pictures in the dark rides and night shots. I couldn't get squat in a dark ride with a point and shoot and y'all's pictures are so crisp and clear.

Every camera type have their limitations. I have a Hasselblad that is like driving a model A, but I still use it for certain shots, I am still very new to digital. For the most part a snap shot photograper.

I agree with Lana!
Love this one Mike!

Thanks so much. Any new trips on the horizon?

Also have to agree with Jack. Some of my best pictures were with my Sony cybershot point and shoot. I think some of my best shots are when I take the time to compose the shot in my mind, set the camera for optimal shooting parameters, and then fire away. I like to get the shot from different angles too. High, low, tight crop make for more advanced storytelling. Oh yeah, also have FUN!

I agree Jack. One of the biggest myths in photography is that a more expensive camera and expensive lens will improve your photography. Sure....sometimes limits on photography are based on your equipment (i.e. taking dark ride shots...you need a camera with high ISO abilities and some fast glass).

But IMHO the best thing a person can do to improve their shots is to increase their knowledge of basic knowledge of photography. Gain a better understanding of the relationship between ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. Understand how harsh light can impact your photos. Take the time to learn to read a histogram...and use that knowledge to make immediate changes in your camera settings. Learn how to hold your camera to improve your chances of getting sharp photos. Learn the basics of composition.

I'm one of those guys who once believed that purchasing high end camera bodies and lenses would improve my photography overnight. That did not happen...but once I started to understand the basics of photography, my shots started to improve. I still have a lot to learn, but at least I am making progress. :thumbsup2

You are speaking a foreign language to me. :) Most of my pictures are taken with my phone. That's why I am so thankful to those of you that share your knowledge, ability, and the products of your investments with the rest of us.

I know this isn't the type or quality of picture that is usually posted here, but I just love it.
