Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

So ate reservations only to be made on the website or on the app too? I can't find where they specify this

I have this question as well, since I can see my tickets in the app but nowhere on the website...
Right? Will they show up in the reservation system since it's linked to the account? Months ago I spoke with a CM and they said it's just linked to the account and will not show on the website. How did WDW do it?

Are we talking making reservations or buying tickets?
Good question. Both, I would guess. It basically just makes it sound like they're not verifying residency on the website. From last week:

  • “Per the state guidelines, the name and contact information of each person who purchases a ticket to the parks should be collected for contact tracing purposes. This information must be provided by the ticket purchaser, who will serve as the main contact on behalf of his/her entire party.”

  • “In addition, at the time a guest purchases park tickets and makes a park reservation, the purchasing guest must confirm that the guest’s party size will not contain more than 3 households and that the guest, and all members of the guest’s party, are California residents, since the guidelines limit theme park attendance to in-state visitors only.”

Well, in the WDW system, you can see your tix on the website...though I think you can buy tix and make park rezzies in both the app and the website, but for WDW, the app and the website have all the same info, so....

My thought is there will be “buckets” like at WDW and there will be a hotel guest bucket that should cover everyone- but it’s just not a guarantee because at some point they may release those to everyone. So if you don’t reserve your dates, you’ll be out of luck. But if you do it in a timely manner, you’ll be fine. Or so I hope. Which addresses the VGC part.
My fear for DVC is what if they slip back a tier before my trip? Like a week before and now out of state can’t come again? That’s gonna be a mess on many levels- not just DVC, but we will be stuck.

Oh OK. Well I'm hoping they just show up as eligible tickets to choose when we pick our party in the reservation system.

My guess would be that the DL app will just kick you to a website page for buying tickets and booking park reservations.

I can't shake the feeling that they will imminently announce a new AP program. I have nothing to go on, but it's a very strong hunch.

I would love to hear something sooner rather than later. But I feel the opposite. I think it will be awhile before anything is announced. If they can sell out on 1-2-3 day tickets, they will make a lot more money that way. Also, WDW is still only selling AP renewals. No new APs as of yet. And they have been open 9 months already.

I feel like the next two or three months are going to be a cascade of unpredictability. (As if the last six weeks haven't already been.) Like I could totally see DL announcing memberships if they had real confidence that they could be above 50% capacity on June 15th.

As long as that page works for folks who already have tix...i guess you could load in eligible tickets on that page, but the way the DL site works now, there is a link to add tickets to your account, but nowhere to view tickets you already have, and if you try to load in tickets you already have loaded in the app, it just says that the tickets are already associated with an acct.

The instructions are pretty clear on the app, and, while it does state very clearly that only CA residents are (currently) permitted to visit the parks, nowhere does it state that you have to live in CA in order to make reservations. Reservations can be made on a rolling 60-day basis, meaning I need to put a reminder on my phone for May 4, and then just need to make sure I get my reservations each day after that. UNLESS, they do it as they do with ADRs at WDW, where you can make reservations for your entire stay the first day your window opens. If I can get all five of my days at once, I will be one happy camper!

I agree, that's what I'm worried about. As much as I agonized this morning about canceling our WDW trip in June and switching it to DLR for later in the summer... I just can't deal with that chaos so we will just wait until things are more stable. I can't even imagine the pain it would bring with DVC points! Vacation planning is supposed to be fun- not stressful.

I wish there was a way of determining how many people within the 35% capacity amount are CA residents with tickets already who also want to go opening day

More fun with Disney tech. But the language on the ticketing page makes it sound like they're going handle it on the website:

"Be sure to login to your Disney account first to link valid tickets prior to the reservation system. Until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks, and in groups no larger than 3 households, in line with current state guidelines. Proof of residency may be required."

They're letting people with existing tickets see which days they're eligible to book on April 9th, which might give some folks a chance to spend a couple of hours on the phone getting it straightened out if they can't get their tickets added. (I say that slightly tongue-in-cheek, knowing that a lot of Disney tech issues seem to get "sorted out" with a little bit of a shrug from a helpless CM.)

I think Disney is going to continue being very cautious. WDW is supposedly still only at 35% (seriously still have my doubts about that based on my trip last month but going on the 35% since that is what Disney says it is at) and they are in a state where the Governor gave the ok to go back to 100% capacity and no masks a long time ago.

I am not sure if you have been to WDW since the reopening, but they are weaving lines through all sorts of places due to the spacing requirements in place. I went through the queue for the Lion King show that is not yet open to get to the safari. At another time of the day, the Flight of Passage line in Pandora was using the Lion King queue. Other rides have lines going outside ride buildings or through closed restaurants so those lines are not out in the walkways. Smugglers Run down there weaved in front of the Falcon, down past Ogas, and then past the Dark Side ship, and almost out of Galaxy's Edge due to the spacing! And again, they are at 35% capacity! Disneyland just does not have the space to do as much of that. At even 25-35%, I cannot see where they are going to put the spaced lines and people. 50% just seems crazy for that.

Not trying to put a damper or be a pessimist, but trying to be realistic. We are still in a pandemic and while the parks are opening, it is not back to normal at all yet.

Does anybody know if DL Ticketing is technically a division of WDW Ticketing still? I seem to recall this from many years ago . If so.....!! !

I am pretty firmly convinced that the new "membership program" will also include WDW and that is why they are not selling new APs over there and only allowing limited renewals. Eventually, those old ones will phase out and the new membership will take its place.

There is a reason why the old Premiere AP will can only be converted to a WDW AP through April 30 AND the legacy pass discounts expire April 30 AND Disneyland reopens on April 30. Something new is going to start then. Otherwise it's a very suspicious coincidence.

My bad, I was referring to partially used tickets. PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED unused tickets will have the 13 day restriction, however, I have heard that NEW ticket sales for multi day tickets will no longer have that restriction and will simply have an expiration date.
Okay, that makes sense. In my case, we don’t have any tickets, so we’re going to need to buy them on the 15th. Hopefully Disney will clarify this on their site soon!

I had a Premier Pass. It expired on 3/31. The 4/30 date to renew by is the 30 day cushion to renew the AP. I renewed back in Feb so I could make my September/October park reservations. Also does not explain why they waited until January to cancel the DL APs when they were allowing the WDW renewals with no new sales. I would fall over in shock if they announced the new memberships that soon. I would like to be wrong, but I really do think it is going to be awhile. They will make more money with people buying multiple 1-2-3 day tickets to get their fixes. I am only willing to do that 2-3 times tops, but I am sure there are a lot of people that will buy a lot more than me.
