I am with you, Crystal. You must live in Northern California as well. This is extremely depressing news to me. I am overly cautious by nature--I was literally wearing a mask when flying in February--and we've been pretty much SIP for almost 6 months, but this seems beyond overzealous. There needs to be a balance between re-opening (jobs and getting our kids back in school) and reasonable restrictions to control the virus. This is not balanced or reasonable IMO. The goal with shutdowns was to prevent the surge, to get our ducks in a row, etc., but it's almost as if he's made it about eradicating the virus. It will be interesting to see how he replies to the Supreme Court today about school re-openings. This is horrible news IMO.

Yes, we are in the east bay area.

I am very sad, we were hoping for a little bit of good news today.

I am worried about businesses and jobs now than ever. I fear when they FINALLY let things open, there will be nothing left to re-open. I just cannot see how all the small businesses will make it. Totally agree with reasonable restrictions to control the virus. I get that lives are at stake, but so are jobs, businesses and livelihoods.

That's essentially what he's done with the new measures. There is going to be some type of COVID restriction on business in CA for a long time unless yellow/minimal becomes the everything can open without restrictions level. As I'm reading it there's no "all clear" level even with yellow having a requirement that's essentially the virus being eradicated.

Oof! School two week countdown starts once a county goes red. So much for OC going back to school being a good sign for DLR opening.

Trying to think about if Disney tried to use the strategy of only outdoor. No indoor rides or dining. So for rides, we'd be talking Astro Orbitors, Autopia, Tea Party, Casey Jr, Dumbo, Carousel, Jungle Cruise, Tarzan Treehouse, Gadget Go Coaster. Maybe Big Thunder, Mark Twain, Columbia, Matterhorn. Doubtful Railroad, Storybook Canal Boats (while outdoors, too much interaction with CMs). No Main Street Vehicles, Star Tours, Space Mountain, Buzz, Finding Nemo, Monorail, Alice in Wonderland, Mr Toad, Peter Pan, Pinnochio, Snow White, Indy, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Winnie Pooh, Rise of Resistance, Smugglers Run, Roger Rabbit.

At DCA it's a bit better since the pier has more outdoor rides, with Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, Luigi, maybe Racers, Incredicoaster, carousel, maybe Pixar Pals, Emotional whirlwind, Swings, Goofy Sky School, Jumpin Jellyfish, Golden Zephyr, Grizzly Rapids. No Guardians, Soarin, Monsters Inc, Toy Story Midway Mania, Ariel.

At that point, does it make sense for Disney to actually reopen? We aren't even considering dining spaces, as they would be limited to patios and having to distance tables. And stores would need to have capacity controls. Capacity would need to be much much less than 25% since there wouldn't be anything to do.

I mean, I miss Disney hardcore. Like, literally feel it in my heart that I need to go back. But I know it's not possible right now. But I guess we'll see what happens with the afternoon meeting.

No it does not. Even Disney can’t charge full

Theme parks across the country have been open for months and cases in just about every single state are dropping.

Just so people are aware, the state data on shared map/info is the 7 day rolling average for 8/12-8/18. It's not the most recent data.

Just being overly optimism we would have usually had more news on Hotel reservations cancelling through Sept 19th by now. I haven't seen any blogs posting the email cancellation update we would have usually seen yesterday. (I know one user said their trip from Sept 17-18 was cancelled, but others are saying 18-20 trips are still showing current.)

And for me with the "indoor rides" I really feel like they could make the case if they cut those rides capacity to 25%, what is the difference from having 25% of people in a book store or flower shop?

When asked when Disneyland might be allowed to reopen, Newsom responded:

"Specific to... amusement park operators, we are working with them," the governor said. "It is a very dynamic conversation, and so we didn't include it in the update today. That is a separate conversation. It's an easier to one to have, frankly, with some of the larger ones. We're trying to accommodate for some of the other amusement activities in the state, and so you'll be getting that as soon as we work through that. One of my afternoon meetings is in this space, and we're actively looking to see where we land on that."
