Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

They might be able to move tables outside. Some restaurants already have outdoor dining, like Uva, La Brea, Naples, and Ralph Brennan's. Others like Blacktap, Ballast Point, Catal do not. However with limited capacity, it probably wouldn't make sense for restaurants to open if they can't open the dining rooms to at least 50% capacity.

Maybe just the shops and quick serve food locations will open at first. Disney never released a list of businesses that would open up on July 9.
Catal has a patio on the second story from what I recall. Idk if guests would be allowed to walk through to it, I would think so.

WDW doesn’t release numbers but park reservations are still available to Resort Guests, regular ticket holders, and APs. Only for a few days have APs filled all the AP allotment for a specific day. It does look like guests are staying away.

We see the same in Disneyland Paris. Reservation system was released today. No situations like Shanghai or WDW. None of the dates, including the AP previews are full, plenty of availability for hotel guests and APs. And today they released a special on 1-day tickets with a $20 discount. These tickets have a guaranteed access and can be cancelled up to three days before arrival for a full refund.

Looks like Newsom is closing some things down for three weeks, which could potentially expire around 07/22 if it started yesterday.
Anybody else holding on to the smallest bit of hope that he comes out on July 6th and gives theme parks the approval to open when those three weeks are done, given that they follow the rules of no indoor seating, masks required, social distance, etc.?

Like I said - smallest glimmer of hope, knowing full well that I will have to reschedule our trip for the end of this month. 😭
I don’t think DLR will open until Sept 😔 As you said it’s “at least 3 weeks”. Disney can’t consider opening until that is lifted. Then, they’ll need state guidelines and DLR said it will take them about a month to get geared back up didn’t they? Mid-end Aug is best case scenario- and that counts on no 4th of July surge in the next couple weeks, I’m an optimistic person but even I don’t see that happening- so Sept sounds more likely to me.

Too bad we can't fly to Paris :(

I'm going to modify for August 28 - September 3 with the hopes of getting our trip in before Labor Day.

Useful graphic on where we are with vaccine development. Took a glance at the Pfizer data, looks good... just wish they had 4 week data in their study.

ETA: Not linked here, but I think NYT has a related article on the ethics of intentionally infecting (with their permission of course) those who got the vaccine to rapidly test its effectiveness (vs. just waiting around and tallying cases after natural exposure). Kind of a neat read. Any volunteers?

It’s July and August where APs have filled days. In few I meant in relation to having reservations through Sept ‘21. WDW guests book resort stays a year in advance and would book Dining 6 months in advance.

With all December dates still open for all categories, Disney still hasn’t opened up resort and ticket sales. 9 days until 2 parks open with reservations still available.

DL must still be working on linking Resorts and tickets to My Disneyland before they open up ticket sales and possibly resort reservations.
To put it bluntly, AP availability for WDW sucks. Only thing left in July is Epcot 7/29 and 7/30. Aug is starting to fill up. The first Sunday you can get into DHS or MK is 9/13 and the first Sat is 9/19. APs can hold 3 park reservations at a time, unless they have an onsite stay and then it’s length of stay.

If they run a similar AP:standard ticket ratio at DLR APs better brace for some major disappointment.

Personally I don’t think they’ll work to link DLR reservations to the ticket system. DLR has such a small onsite capacity vs the properties currently open at WDW I think onsite stays at DLR will come with guaranteed park access...

I don't know what is going on in Counties north of us . but on Monday when San Diego announced the roll-back (closure) of Bars and inside Dining . they did say there will not be any "new openings" in the next 3 weeks . in San Diego .

Was San Diego ordered to close? I don't think I remember seeing them on the list. Did they close voluntarily?

no San Diego closed the Bars and indoor Dining on our own (the power's that be did the deed) because our numbers have been up for approximately a week . We are close to being added to Newsom's hit list (on the bubble so to speak) the Bars & indoor Dining roll-back I agree with .

Probably for the best. If I’m not mistaken, San Diego county was one of the first to open indoor dining in SoCal. I knew a ton of people who went down there to eat and do day trips from La. I think as of now pretty much all of SoCal doesn’t have indoor things open with the new orders and closures

I know its only your (and my) opinion. But I also think that with only the capacity of the 2 on-site hotels, that they would be crazy not to assure on-site guests that they can get into the parks. We have rented VGC for Sept 13-17 but have not purchased park tickets yet. And of course you can't purchase them right now. But it would seem very counter productive to have on-site hotel guest locked out of the parks just because they waited to purchase tickets. That would of course cause cancellations of those hotels (along with any other revenue it would bring in).

Renting VGC has its own consequences (sorry - no cancellations, or refunds) and I may have to endure that if things are not opened up by then. But to be locked out of the parks just because I did not buy my park tickets long ago- wow.

I agree, especially given the proximity of much cheaper third-party hotels. At WDW, I like to stay in the bubble. But at DLR, the convenience and price of the Harbor hotels usually wins out. But I'm definitely not paying Disney hotel prices if being an on-site guest doesn't even get me guaranteed admission into the parks.

Is it totally wrong that I hear this in the voice of the Ghost Host?
