Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Looks like Haunted Mansion is gonna be the biggest wait time... it's stayed around 60-75 mins for awhile. 😳

I wonder if the way it backs up bc of the distancing will be a big part of their decision regarding the overlay for Halloween/Xmas. If it's this backed up.. on a low capacity CM preview day.. I can't imagine how wild it'd be with the Haunted Mansion Holiday theme.

We love love love that overlay but I don't think the chances are looking good for it..

Holy smokes! Was that wait time for today or at WDW? I know I heard in one of the livestreams that wait times were inflated for some reason (like Gadget's Go Coaster was listed at 20 mins but was actually walk-on). Though, now that I'm thinking about it, HM will probably be that high when the parks open because the stretching room takes a while to get through.

Worth it? Yes! 😂

For Disneyland.. I had some of the CM preview livestreams on for background noise as I worked and it stayed that high all day. 😬 Probably because they can only put a couple groups in the elevator at a time.

It was always a walk on for us at WDW but they don't have a elevator so the preshow wasn't going and you walked right through it.

Idk I like having the preshow... but oof that's a long wait!

Gosh, I hope most of this is behind us by then and things are looking a lot more normal including HMH.

I'm just imagining the thought of HM speeding up and dropping like Tower of Terror lol

CM: "Buckle up, everyone! You're about to become part of the attraction..."
????
"Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion, I'm your host...your Ghost Host"

LOL. Not quite what I meant. But the preshow is more than just the elevator doing down. They could skip all the extras to make it faster.

This is the content I need in the morning. :rotfl2:

Maybe they can't speed it up? I'm not sure on the mechanics/behind the scenes of things but could be it was more hassle than it was worth? I do like the idea of the preshow staying but longer waits means less times to repeat ride it (unless you're willing to wait) which is a bummer. We ride the HM over and over and over.. and that's just on one day.

Haha, totally got what you were saying! I just have such a weird sense of humor and thought how funny that would be to combine the two rides lol

I bet they could skip some portions of the spiel. That's a pretty good idea to move things along.

Honestly not sure if the elevators can move any faster. We have ridden it back up with the wheelchair and it moves super slow going up and still creeks. Will be interesting to see.

I just asked my husband who is an Elevator Mechanic and he said those hydraulic elevators can be sped up but only in the down direction.

I recall reading and seeing a diagram: this elevator is on hydraulic rams under the floor; let the pressure out to lower, pump it back in to raise. I think you are right, it's not built for varying speeds.

Freshbaked posted a full ride-through overnight on Youtube. I won't link here due to spoilers for the new elements. Glad they were able to get a preview along with CMs.

Napolini (the counter service next to Naples) is NOW OPEN! Woo Hoo!

I just got an email from the Patina Group. I'm so happy! I know we talked about this place awhile back in this thread and wondered about when it would reopen, and I had spoken to the manager at Naples who said "when the parks reopen it will open." So, glad to see that actually panned out!

I love the pre show and can’t wait till it’s back at WDW, but if I had the choice of little to no wait or 60 min+ plus I pick the no wait every time. You still get 90% of the HM which is still in my top 5 rides even without the pre show

The short version is that Potrock didn't say anything that we didn't already know. There's a membership program of some kind coming this year sometime. There honestly wasn't enough there for anyone to write an entire article about it.

(I've got a sore spot with OC Register - I'd love the board to block links to them. Brady loves to take any small thing and write a 2000-word article about it. Potrock said a lot of interesting stuff - the membership stuff wasn't really even on the list.)

Here is an article without the paywall. It was about the passholder program

Thank you both! Yes, the OC register can be pretty fluffy with info!

Has there been anything about when the other resorts will open? Looking at June 30th-July 3rd and there is availability at the Grand Californian but we want to stay at the DL hotel if its open. I have only been to DL/DCA once for one day after the Rose Bowl in 2018. I have a wedding in San Diego on July 4th so figured this would be the perfect opportunity to go for a few days and especially check out Avengers Campus.
