Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Same.

While Disneyworld was a lot of fun... the food was very lacking....

I wonder.... Since Dinseyworld is now lessoning its distance markers( I always said idid NOT want to be the poor people pulling all those up all over the country.) I wonder is Disneyland will do the same on the 16th. I still expect masks, but maybe allowed off for taking pictures now.

Hey.. weird question has anyone seen the chimichanga's? Is it sad how much I am craving one.. with a corn dog a dole whip and maybe one day a sourdough bowl and soup followed by ice cream from Ghiradelli's.

They do have chimichangas. Oddly, I think they are at the Karl Strauss beer truck in DCA.

I'm all for this but not sure how it will work. What about under 12? What about 12-15 years that won't have time to be fully vaccinated by June 15? What about those that medically can't take the vaccine?

I think the assumption is those 12 and under don't have to show proof so they're not eligible yet. I'm vaccinated and my kid will be soon too so whatever but I don't see Disney being too happy with this.

It hasn't been confirmed yet but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the route the state takes. The Hollywood Bowl just announced that they're reserving the majority of their seats for vaccinated guests.

I'm interested to see if there ends up being some type of pass program to show your vaccination status (something similar to New York's Excelsior program, maybe?)

CA is exhausting. Pick a plan and stick to it.

Yes they are. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a way to encourage people on the fence to get vaccinated. I heard CA MLB baseball stadiums have special sections for vaccinated guests...... The whole thing is exhausting. From the months of "deadly variants" and "don't let your guard down" to no masks at all anywhere in a matter of weeks. :oops:o_O

CDPH is just a trade group. They make recommendations, but no theme parks are bound by their recommendations. I highly doubt this will even come to be the standard for theme parks. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

But then again, I never thought Disneyland would close for over a year. 🤷‍♀️

No, CDPH is the California Department of Public Health. They make the rules.

I think a vaccination pass for CA residents is definitely coming. However, I think anyone from out of state will be required to show either a vaccine card or a photo of one that matches their name.

They are going to require vaccines for 12+ so that they can DROP the masks and distancing requirments entirely and go back to 100% capacity.

I told you things were going to change drastically for theme parks after June 15...

And hey, I would be just fine for that. Chapek pretty much confirmed in an interview yesterday that no outdoor masks will be necessary at WDW in the summer.

I think they'd wait until under 12 could be vaxxed though before throwing it all out but who knows?

People are focusing too much on the "under 12" group. Statisically, this group is NOT in danger from Covid. When you require all the 12+ to be vaccinated in a space, there is practically ZERO risk to those under 12 who are not vaccinated. As it stands, the mortality rate for this age group is 0.004%. It's less than for flu, even.

Everyone needs to remember that public safety measures are not intended to protect every individual, but rather to avoid a catastrophic failure of the healthcare system. A few under 12 year olds walking around in a theme park, mostly outdoors, in the presence of fully vaccinated people OVER 12, even IF they happen to be infected with covid, will not have any real impact in terms of viral spread or on the healthcare system as a whole.

This makes sense, but June 15 just seems too soon. I think once it's announced, it would make more sense to start on the days that haven't been released for reservations yet.

We have reservations for later in June and it would be hard to vaccinate my 12 year old in time to qualify as fully vaccinated.

Ah but we all know some policymakers tend to follow different science. 😉

I'd even just be happy if they can catch up to where WDW will be with their covid policies by summer.

Have you looked for appointments? My 15 year old goes tomorrow for shot #1. He will be fully vaxxed by June 19. Appointments seem to be readily available at pharmacies all over the country right now.
