Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I never understood the original ban on out-of-state guests anyway as COVID doesn’t stop at a state line.
It does if out of state visitors are restricted. If you look at what happened with Florida and "spring break", you can see why. They have gone from a 4300 cases per day early March average to 6500 cases a day average. Florida has 53% of the population of CA. CA currently has an average of 2400 cases per day, down from 4200 cases a day in mid March.

Living and teaching in AZ, masks are no big deal at this point! I saw an IG video of unmasked people in public and it seemed so strange!
Agreed, I don't even think about it any more, it just feels normal.

I did find it interesting that a relative's school just went back to in class (for those who wanted in class) with the 3' distances for kids. Now, 8 days later, 2 kids in the class are sick (presumptive Covid at this point, they are 9). I am surprised the school isn't closing the classroom, but they aren't....

Just to add on, masks aren't required in Florida at all, and Disney has it mandatory in their parks. It will remain in at Disneyland for a while....

WDW did just change it so you can remove them outdoors for pictures. I've been wondering if we'd see Disneyland follow suit with that eventually since that's a Disney policy. 🤞 People are much happier being able to get a quick maskless vacay photo and also gives CMs a break in policing the picture issue. When we were there for the holidays, they just couldn't even keep up with how many guests were removing them for pics, seemed to be a constant problem.

CAPA just clarified the addendum. Vaccinated out of staters can attend parks who have adjusted their reopening plans to include them (aka SW). However, no requirement for parks to do so.

This is incorrect. CAPA is not the state - it's just the trade association.

CAPA is simply approving of Sea World's interpretation. That doesn't mean the state agrees with it.

That is huge news. I wonder if Disney will follow suit sooner than June 15th? If I were a betting person, I would say yes.

Because CA worked hard to get our numbers as low as they are now and we don't want to see spikes because other states followed a different plan. It's not that it will stop it completely, but it's another mitigating factor.
And it is magically not a mitigating factor when half of SoCal comes to Las Vegas every weekend...

He said he's still waiting for confirmation from CDPH but if CAPA also agrees this is the correct interpretation.... that's a good sign, I suppose. I wouldn't get excited until we hear from the state... followed by Disney... haha.

This is actually worse for people, not better. Because there is no pathway for anyone under 16 to be allowed in from out of state.

In principle I totally agree with you however California is a big state and depending on where you are located and your views on Covid your in state people can pose the same problem as out of state guests. Some states have done a much better job than others but again it all depends on the views of each person. We would gladly show proof of vaccination if needed. Here in Oregon I think we have done a good job but certain areas of the state still refuse to get on board just like California. BTW, our State Park Campgrounds have been full of California plates ever since this Covid started.

Just playing the devils advocate. Not trying to start an argument .

Good point! Why change it? So weird. What is going on over at Seaworld's headquarters??

To circle back to what I said before... Disney is definitely sitting and banging their head on their desk. This is just a weird little rollercoaster going on here.

It's not incorrect, they literally said that. No where did I say CDPH said anything, I am simply relaying information from CAPA

They had to change it because what they originally had didn't even match the amended guidance. I'm not sure who is more incompetent here, the state or Sea World. It's a real Battle Royale for that title at the moment.

This is the single-worst argument of this long political discussion.

Just because my neighbor doesn't mind it if my dogs go into her backyard doesn't mean I have to let her dogs into my backyard.

To add on to this, I have never seen so many CA license plates in my life in TX as I have this last year. We have many friends and family who’ve had guests staying with them from CA, so I know for a fact that Californians are traveling to TX. I’m sure we’re not the only destination either.
