Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Does anyone have thoughts if Grand Californian will have discounted rates when reservations go online tomorrow? Right now I'm booked at BW Park Place for my early June trip but I am going to check tomorrow and see what the rates are for June, but I'm also going to book my October and December trips. I also wonder if they will be offering packages with tickets now or if I'll have to wait until June 15th since I live in WA.
I can't get it to come up on any of my browsers, but a friend had "rooms starting from $586/night" pop up for her when she went to the Grand page on the Disney website. Can't get any further than that right now though.

That is generally what the prices are normally.

I wouldn't expect to see any special rates until Disney has a hard time filling rooms. Which may or may not happen immediatly. I doubt they will have any problems, given it will be the only hotel open initially, with no word on when the others will come online.

Expect to pay rack rate.

Ugh, I just saw that the waterslides at the pool at GCH will not be available. What is that about? What a bummer.

Hopefully that changes by July.

Yeah that's what I was figuring too. Totally willing to pay rack rate for September/December since I'll be visiting the parks but not for June since all I will be doing is DTD. Thanks for the info/help!

I honestly am hoping that the rates for the Grand Californian will be reasonable for the next few months because of the low capacity entry allowance, only California residents, and there are no Magic Morning benefits.

I made reservations at another hotel that I can cancel for mid May just in case I can get tickets and a park reservation. I guess ill find out Friday morning!

Thursday! Reservations for the Grand and tickets open tomorrow not Friday.

I own at the Villas, but my waitlist hasn't come through so add me to the list of people going for a room reservation tomorrow morning. Any thoughts on rack rate for a suite versus 2 regular rooms?

Uh. Legacy appears to be getting killed off assuming it isn't a glitch. My membership and ticket section now say "Discount Card Re-issue" and nothing about Legacy in my app. I know it said Legacy before I went to sleep and I have not gotten the latest app update pushed yet.

I'm intrigued by the potential implications of this 👀

Also interesting that it no longer specifies Discount A versus Discount B. Website still does on the discount list for merchants.

My Disney travel agent tried to book the Grand for me yesterday and the rate for a standard room was $900 per night. I’ll be staying at the Fairfield Inn 😂 Seriously though, I was very disappointed.

$900 a night?! WOW!
I also made a reservation at the Fairfield because of the proximity. Not sure if I will keep it since I’ve never stayed there

Btw - since we were talking about a potential hotel bucket for reservations:

The hotel bucket on the Availability Calendar seems to be working as of this morning:

I'm glad to hear this because we have a room booked over the holiday weekend in July and I don't want to have to worry that park days will be unavailable, but I also don't want to buy my next set of tickets in like 2 weeks.

The one thing I'm still hazy about - whether having a hotel reservation is enough to get into that bucket, or if the tickets have to be part of a reservation package. The wording on the website implies the latter, but I think there was someone in the April 15 thread who said that she was able to book park reservations with full availability using tickets she'd purchased beforehand. (For the cost of those rooms, I'd really hope it wouldn't matter where the tickets came from.)

I think someone in another thread said they were able to get opening day after it had been fully booked using their DVC reservation at GCH. As far as I know you can't book a package if you stay on DVC points.
