Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I can't even imagine the lines at 9am when groups have to be 6ft apart. it's going to be all the way down to katella

Disney probably won't release official numbers but capacity will be capped at 25% if Orange county stays in the orange tier. That's like 35k visitors allowed between the 2 parks. I don't think every single person is going try to be there at rope drop.

Behind the scenes has said Disney will be limiting the first days at 15-20%. Soft openings are supposedly at 10%. And I know several friends who will not be arriving until kids are out of school on the 30th.

I wonder how they’re going to handle the people who show up at the gate and have tickets but that didn’t realize they needed a reservation.

I know “too bad, turn them away” is an easy answer, but I can hear it now: I came all the way from... I’m spending $$$ on the hotel, etc.

All I know is that somehow I will be in the line behind them when the gates open!

They will just let them in because the parks won't ever be at capacity. 😜

WDW and UNiversal have specific systems to control capacity .
You will see security everywhere to protect the guest, castperson, and property. It’s basic and functional and necessary. I hope everybody has a safe experience. It will be interesting to hear reports from Californialand .

Have there been any rumors re: Paradise Pier Hotel and the Disneyland Hotel reopening? My sister and mom may be joining us during our September trip and usually stay on property. I'll probably just have them book something refundable in the meantime.

I wonder what Uber and Lyft will be like from the airport (OC SNA). We went to Vegas a couple weekends ago and I didn't even bother trying to get an uber, apparently wait times can be over an hour. Just got a Taxi to & from the airport. I would imagine a Taxi would be pretty expensive from the airport to disney land.

In the main forum there is a transportation thread and we have been talking about Uber. Taxi flat rate is $44, and Uber is unreliable right now. Rides are getting canceled and prices are more than they should be. :(

Off topic but what was the wait for a taxi? I have to go to Vegas in a couple of weeks and I am contemplating hiring a car service if it’s difficult to get a taxi. I already know Uber/Lyft waits are crazy.

There was literally no line at the airport at noon on Friday or when leaving our resort at 7am on Sunday (NY NY).

Recently tried to take Uber or Lyft from SNA to Laguna Beach. Normally, that would have run about $26 in regular traffic. The quotes I was getting were jumping all over the place, some up to $80 but nothing less than $65. If you found one, it might be an hour before you were picked up. I finally managed to grab a $65 Uber. A day later we got an Uber to take us from the hotel in Laguna to Newport Beach pier area, and it was over $40. Lyft was slightly less but I had too much trouble with their app and they had longer wait times. When we tried to book to go from the hotel back to the airport, it was even worse and nothing was available for over an hour. We took a taxi, which was right there, and paid $85. That was quite an eye-opener.

Only way to change name is unlinking the ticket and when relinking it'll prompt for name for the ticket. Now, I haven't tried this WITH A RESERVATION already. That may become problematic, or not. I don't know.

Regardless, it's a call to CS.
Just an update for anyone else with this issue. after being on hold most of the morning, the CM was able to change the name on my ticket. She also said that it wan't necessary, as long as the ticket itself has a reservation on it, the name doesn't matter.

I wonder what is going on? We had similar issues at WDW early last month. Much more expensive than usual and much longer waits. In Maui a few weeks ago there were literally no cars in Wailea whenever we checked.

Thanks for posting back. We have an extra ticket linked in my disneyland account for my daughter who is studying abroad. There are no park reservations associated with it. It sounds as if I'll be fine to de-link and reassign?

Carlye Wisel on Twitter said that CDPH will clarify if the update to the state restrictions will allow theme parks to accept out of state guests that are vaccinated:

Sounds like Seaworld just decided to interpret this as a go ahead and changed their website accordingly. Other folks on Twitter also noted that Universal Studios Hollywood also removed the banner talking about out of state guests not being allowed in too. So guess we'll see.... Either way, as usual the state COVID restrictions are confusing everyone. :rotfl2:

The real question is: will Disney act on this if it is a go ahead? Will the state require theme parks to require proof of vaccination? Or will they just do away with the out of state restriction completely? The tier blueprint has always pointed to the travel advisory as the reasoning for it and if that's modified, does it change the tier rules then?

Everything that's been going on the past few months in WDW and vaccination passports, etc etc. has pointed to Disney not wanting to ever require proof of vaccination. But then again, who knows what could happen. If you would have told me last year at this time that Disneyland would still be closed, I wouldn't have believed it. At this point, who knows.

I didn't know where to put this info because we have this similar conversation happening in like four threads so just came back to our good ole trusty speculation thread.

There is a small part of me that thinks the confusing wording may have been on purpose so that it was out there, but could be later defined as the powers that be saw fit.

You can't make this stuff up. It's pure entertainment at this point.:joker:

The out of staters trying to outsmart the restrictions. The California residents defending the restrictions. Certain theme parks obvious disregard for the restrictions.

Keep it up people. Just make sure the science isn't involved.

I haven’t seen many Californians on here defending the restrictions. Just trying to explain what they are. Living here, we understand this roller coaster better than others.

I personally don’t care either way right now. I’m going when there are capacity restrictions, so whether that’s in state or out of state really has no bearing on me.

Normally I'm the positive one but I don't see this being the move that suddenly allows out of state folks to Disneyland.

It's too complicated. What about kids? How long would their negative test last for? And god forbid, what if your kid tested positive halfway in the trip and you're staying at the GCH? And honestly, if we're gonna require vaccination proof for out of state, why not in state too? And down the rabbit hole we go. I just don't see this playing out. Disney wants nothing to do with all that chaos.

If Disney has word from the state June 15th is their for sure go ahead, it's probably much easier to just wait it out.

Yep. Can you imagine the poor front gate workers looking at the "vaccination cards" trying to figure out if it is valid or a forgery? Or matching the time on the negative tests? And I was told for our industry, you can't have mix and match. If you want the extra people, including out of state, you get the vaccine cards and negative tests from everyone.

Well then I take back my “I don’t care either way” statement. I won’t be happy to have to get my younger 3 kids negative tests twice for our trip when it was booked without such a requirement.
