Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I just hope that when they release the reservation system that they don't do it for months in advance or at least leave "empty buckets" of slots for out of state folks to occupy so when the time comes we can at least get our days reserved.

I'm sure they'll have something figured out though- likely to do what WDW does with their system of allowing slots for each guest "category."

So wait, indoor concerts can resume on April 15 with up to 2000 attendees, but we can't have indoor queueing or 16 minute long indoor rides?

Make it make sense, please!

I'm actually with you on this, but I think part of it is that it requires either a negative test or proof of vaccination (similar to what the SF Giants are doing). I wonder if Disney were willing to add that requirement, if things could change for them (not that they will).

Will DLR release ticketing before Universal's 4/8 date? Cutting it a close for GCH reservations plans for a 4/29 opening.

I've love to ask this, since the topic keeps coming up:

If people want to post the advisory changes, that's fair game. And I think it's reasonable for us to discuss how they affect DLR specifically.

But let's avoid any discussion about whether they're fair or valid.

It's obvious that people feel strongly one way or the other, and there's not much of a chance for us come to a consensus about it. And, even if we did, that consensus wouldn't really change anything.

Let's just acknowledge that that are what they are, and keep the discussion here to how they impact the parks.

No, they don't require a negative test or proof of vaccination just to hold the event/performance, but WITH those things, they can go up to 35% capacity. So, in a 20,000 seat venue, that would be 7,000 people rather than 2000.

From my OC city mayor's FB page:

Update from Mayors Call with OCHCA 4/2/21:

CA has been stable so far due not only to the vaccine availability but also the mask mandate. There are upticks in cases in Florida, Texas, and the Midwest. It is encouraged that we all continue to wear masks, wash hands and maintain physical distancing.

It looks like we are 3-5 days away from CA achieving 4 million doses in the lowest Healthy Places Index (HPI) quartile. Once this is achieved, the State will move the threshold between the tiers. For us in OC, this may mean moving from Orange to Yellow. We'll know more in the coming days.

Got it. Our news was reporting it as all tiers, but I see that’s only true of Red.
ETA: actually I misread the CDHP website. It’s required of large indoor gatherings/conferences in all tiers, but not for concerts/live performance, unless it’s a venue that holds more than 1501 in red?

Correct.

I have a question for Californians to see if I'm interpreting the updated travel guidelines right. And I promise I will make it Disneyland related. :rolleyes1

https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/Travel-Advisory.aspx
So this bit from the link (bolded text):

With over 18 million vaccine doses administered statewide, vaccines have made a difference and overall disease trends have improved dramatically over the past ten weeks. Case rates, test positivity, transmission rate, hospitalizations and ICU admissions have all declined since the winter surge. While we have made great progress, many states and countries are experiencing increasing levels of transmission, and it is imperative that California continue to take steps necessary to curb the spread of COVID-19 and contain new sources of infection until we can achieve higher levels of vaccination in California and beyond. The State is issuing the following recommendations, which supersede the Travel Advisory issued on April 1, 2021

  • All travelers arriving in or returning to California from other states or countries should follow CDC travel guidance.
  • All travelers who test positive or develop symptoms of COVID-19 should isolate and follow public health recommendations.
  • Fully vaccinated travelers:
    • are less likely to get and spread COVID-19, and can travel safely within the United States and California
    • should follow CDC travel guidance, and are not required to test or quarantine before or after travel unless they have symptoms concerning for COVID-19 disease.
I am interpreting it this way - that means now, as a fully vaccinated Washington State resident I can enter California and enjoy touristy type activities which could include visiting Downtown Disney as long as I am following the most recent CDC guidance and California tier guidance? At this time it does not yet allow me to buy tickets to Disneyland or DCA. Does that seem accurate? Thanks!

Correct. Which truthfully was always the case (even unvaccinated).

The theme park guidelines are different, as you note, and at present time it doesn’t matter if one is vaccinated or not. Through the yellow tier, only in state residents can book reservations, when they go live. There hasn’t been any information on when out of state residents will be allowed to, but I would expect it to be green tier -unfortunately the guidelines to get to green tier are unknown.

Thank you! That's what I thought but just wanted to be sure my thinking wasn't skewed. I am coming down in June and have reservations at Best Western Park Place. If all I get to do is Downtown Disney a couple times, visit some beaches etc. I'll be one happy disney fan and save my big return to the parks for whenever they do open it up.

Agree on the green tier speculation. Speaking of... hopefully they hurry up with that considering I keep reading how close OC is to the yellow! 🎉

This is our plan too. There’s also the Disney Archives exhibit at the Bowers Museum just 10-15 minutes away. It’s there through 6/20.
