Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I think it's BRUTAL that VGC owners with existing reservations are not getting priority or a special bucket of park reservations to choose from like they do at WDW. Disneyland is showing no understanding of the fact that we have to book 11 months in advance and can't just drop a reservation a couple months ahead of time if we don't get a park reservation.

I hope they’ll add that in somehow because you’re very right.

Don't you have to specify the days you want your tickets for?
The wording on the new ticketing page makes it sounds like it'll be like the WDW system - you pick the days you want to go, buy the relevant tickets, and then make the park reservations. The steps are separate.

Taking a test drive through the WDW system might help it more sense:
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/admission/tickets/

Basically, the 1-day tickets are tiered, so it's just a matter of buying a ticket for the specific tier that corresponds to that day. But it'd be usable on another day of the same tier.

The hope would be that the reservations wouldn't fill up so quickly that'd you'd be put in that situation, but it's hard to say what's going to happen here at first.

Wow, as an AP holder I now feel completely unwanted and undervalued. I spend $$$$$ on Disney every year, between my passes (which are a great deal), tons of merchandise and lots of money on food every time we go. And even though we are fairly local, we do 1 to 2 hotel stays a year. I also do trips to WDW.
And yet, I am being punished for being an AP holder.
Thanks, Disney

I have to agree it's sad about Legacy not getting any sort of advance access (but I'm also not surprised; they've been making only minor gestures to keep us interested). I've been tempering my hopes and expectations because I did wonder if we would be lumped with general.

But VGC not getting their own bucket is a huge oversight and I hope something is eventually done to accommodate them. My reservations can be cancelled up to the day before (and in some cases day of). Plenty of time if I can't get a ticket and a reservation. But VGC is a much different beast.

I find this piece interesting:

To accommodate as many types of ticket holders as possible, reservations for select dates may be made available on a rolling basis.

I'm curious what this will look like in practice and how it will impact availability.

I was an Signature Plus pass holder AND am a VGC owner of 320 pts. I feel doubly undervalued!

This re-opening is really tough on everyone. So many different needs, so many different expectations. So many people are going to be disappointed at not getting in on Day One. Or week one. There is just no way to please everyone. There are going to far more angry, upset, undervalued and disappointed people than happy ones.

I feel the exact same way!!!! And to have the verbiage to basically not book GCH until you get tickets and park reservations was beyond frustrating. I have reservations at VGC for the anniversary in July. I booked the main part back in August (using VGC points) of last year and picked up 2 additional nights 6-8 weeks ago (using ssr points). Feels very out of my hands right now. And then I also have November booked too ---- also booked 11 months out. All VGC owners know those points are like gold and this is just so frustrating to see that no consideration is given for how far in advance we have to book!

Apparently CA is aiming to “fully reopen economy” on June 15 (given certain metrics), so I’m guessing that’s when out-of-state people can come? And parks can go to full capacity?

Phew. Lots to take in today.

I am curious about that, too.

Oh please let this mean that out-of-state can come then....fingers crossed (but still thrilled for you CA folks who can whoop it up at the parks if not!!)

It is beyond frustrating. Are we supposed to let our points go into holding? I have a September Labor Day reservation with points that need to be used, too. I sure as heck hope they have the calendar open for 11 months plus! I'm tweeting them and planning to send an email to both DL and DVC. This disparate treatment of west coast members is bad optics with sales of a new tower on the horizon. This policy shows no understanding at all of how DVC works.

Yes, I know. I was prepared to be disappointed to some degree. I knew there was a good chance that I wouldn't be able to get in early (in the first week to celebrate my son's birthday), but what I didn't expect was that I was going to be completely denied the chance to. I'm sure the first days are going to be gobbled up fast by those who have tickets. I just wanted the same chance as everyone else to get in that first week.
So I am disappointed in a completely different way. I feel like Disney just kinda cast me aside.

Maybe they will hold some tickets for those early days aside for the rest of us. That is my hope.

I am planning to send an email too. To DVC Member Satisfaction and DL Guest Services. It is just not right to say not to make a hotel reservation until you make ticket reservations if you want to visit the parks. Booking 11 months out was following my contract and using my membership in the way intended for home resort priority. I should not be punished for using my membership in the intended way!

I don't think the amount of CA residents with existing tickets will be able to fill up even one day given the capacity amount, so I don't think there's any need to worry. That's the only "brightside" (and I use this loosely) to it being limited to CA residents.

I"m going the same. I'm also pointing out the bad optics for the sale of the new tower and that they didn't open VCG when they should have if they consider it just a hotel.
