Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

From OC register:

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have announced the dates when the Anaheim theme parks will begin selling tickets and allowing visitors to make mandatory reservations following a year-long closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Theme park ticket sales for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will resume on April 15 no earlier than 8 a.m. Advanced online reservations will open on April 12 no earlier than 8 a.m. for visitors with previously purchased tickets.

Reservations will be required to visit Disneyland and DCA once both parks reopen on April 30 with limited capacity after a yearlong coronavirus closure. Visitors will need to purchase theme park tickets before making a reservation. California theme parks will be required to limit admission to in-state residents.

Prices in the five-tier ticket system will remain unchanged from when the park closed in March 2020. Visitors purchasing multi-day tickets will have to make theme park reservations for each day they wish to visit. There will be no discounts or priority for Disneyland annual passholders purchasing theme park tickets.

Visitors with previously purchased tickets will have to make a reservation for dates that match the pricing tier of their tickets. Disney will publish a calendar on April 9 showing which dates will be available for each pricing tier.

Parkhopper tickets will be available — but visitors will have to choose the theme park where they will start their day. Parkhoppers can cross over to the other park starting at 1 p.m.

Hotel bookings will resume on April 15 for Disney’s Grand Californian. Hotel guests will need to separately buy a ticket and make a reservation to get into the theme parks. A hotel stay will not guarantee a theme park reservation.

Restaurant reservations for Disneyland and DCA restaurants will open on April 22.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting on April 30. Both the Mickey and Friends and Pixar Pals parking garages will be open.

All of a sudden overwhelmed! So if I'm reading this correctly, since I already have tickets, I can book a reservation on the 12th?
For all my handwringing - it does look that way. Curious to see if they sell parkhopper tickets on April 15th (though it certainly sounds like they're ready for parkhopping).

So curious to see how far out the reservation calendars will go.... Assuming the reservation system will validate CA residency in order to make a rezzie. We are not CA residents but do have existing tix and a VGC reservation for end of June. Doubt parks will be open to us by then, but one can dream..... :)

It does say further down that people will be able to park hop - they have to pick the park to start in, but will be able to hop after 1pm that day.

It also says to get a reservation before booking onsite as you are not guaranteed a park reservation.

They've posted the calendar through the end of June - 9am to 7pm for the first couple of weeks, then 9am to 9pm.

Makes me think that they'll just book those two months at first.

Also interesting to note that they aren't going to limit people from booking dining reservations - they'll just note that a dining reservation doesn't guarantee access to the park.

And there was a previous note that made it sound like they weren't planning on limiting ticket sales to CA residents - basically doing what the other parks are doing and working on the honor system.

Also out of state, also already have tickets, and have a hotel reservation for the week of the 4th of July. Just hope I can get in then!

Can somebody help me with what is probably a really stupid question. I have my tickets linked on the app and can see them. But I don't know where to find them on the website. If I go to "link tickets" and enter them, it says they're already linked. Are they just there some place? I'm trying to make sure somebody can try from my computer at home if I'm not here and want to make sure everything is in place to do so.

Sooo, APs got kinda screwed by this. Of course we didn’t have tickets when the parks closed. We had APs, which were also entrance media. But now we can’t make reservations until we have a chance to buy tickets days later than other ticket holders?

I was really hoping for the first weekend for my kiddo’s birthday. I’m pretty sad about this. 🥺

I'm kind of ticked about this as well, as I'm sure a lot of AP holders are. I wonder if we'll get a legacy passholder "perk" that will allow us to buy tickets on the 12th. As of right now Disneyland has been doing a lot to hint that legacy passholders aren't quite their target demographic anymore.

I'm honestly very, very surprised that they're letting people with existing tickets go first. The only justification I can think of is that it's a great way to soft-launch the reservation system.

But it doesn't really make sense from any other standpoint, since they can keep kicking the can down the road on those tickets. It's bad for the former APs, it delays DL's initial income, etc.

I'm happy for those who benefit from that - but I wouldn't (and didn't) predict that. And I would guess that it's mostly a chance to avoid a total tech meltdown on day one.

I think you'll have plenty of ability to make reservations when ticket sales open up, because you'll only be competing with Californians who both did NOT have APs and have already-purchased tickets in hand. I don't know that that population is going to hit capacity for the first weekend.

Sorry if this is a dumb question...but what if you are able to buy tickets but can't secure a reservation for the specific days you can actually go? Can you get a refund for the tickets?

More than likely, you'll have to keep them until you can find a date to go (or beg a CM for a refund). The wording on the ticketing page says that you should book your reservation immediately after buying the ticket to guarantee access. (I think WDW handles theirs like this.)

It’s possible, but it makes things more unlikely being further back in “line.” I mean, super first-world-problem and all that. I’m just bummed.

I also noticed awhile ago that they’re doing previews for CMs and “local community members” that whole week, and apparently that’s including a bunch of their core influencers, some of whom are friends/acquaintances of ours. So I will probably be watching them frolic around the parks that week on social media. I will try not to feel bitter. 😬

Don't you have to specify the days you want your tickets for?
