Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I know you featured the beignets but seeing the monorail track all I can think is when we see them testing the monorails...

I’m right there with you. As I’ve been coming to DTD while the parks have been closed, trying to get my Disney fix, I always end my time there having Dessert in the esplanade. I would be freaking out right now if the monorail suddenly went by.

DVC - VGC - Canceled our Sept 2-5 this morning :(
Hoping to get to DtD next week (we scrubbed all travel and opted for a beach house in San Diego), had to mentally prep the kiddo to see closed gates :(

My VGC reservation for 9/20-9/21 still active (I'm not going, I'm going to give it away to a local friend if they're open), I went to go check for more future dates and noticed they inadvertently put a link to the WDW theme park reservation page in the VGC results. Whoops. Why yes, I would love to visit Animal Kingdom while staying at the Grand Californian!

ETA -- Correction, JWM opens 8/19 (Wed) not 8/17 (Mon).
My VGC for Sept 5-7 is still active, too. Keep waiting for it to cancel so I can switch to something else.

It’s a public testing site fully funded by the government. (Sounds like the “cost” for using Disney property is a dedicated line for their employees.)
I was thinking that Disney, in order to have a testing site, had to open it up to all. Main Gate sits on a curving 2-lane road that isn’t very safe for non-CMs.

WDW didn’t even announce the early opening of the test site to CMs. An Entertainment CM was tested at an off-property walk-in site on Wednesday morning and his positive results were received on Saturday morning. Because he always wears his mask at work and when out and about, he went to have a 2nd test done and drove into Orlando. If he had known about Main Gate, he could have made an appt. there. His Dr. confirmed his positive results.

At least the testing site is available and CMs who test positive are letting other CMs know because they know Disney won’t openly alert anyone.

Since this is a speculation thread.... what does everyone think -- holding a 9/25 - 9/28 VGC reservation. DVC cancelled my Labor Day reservation for me. Thoughts on this reservation?

Interesting observation about HOJOs, from the looks of their website it appears they are not allowing new reservations until next year. I do, however, have a reservation for December that hasn't been canceled yet.

I'd say it's likely not going to happen. I think we are looking at Oct. 1 as an earliest possible reopening date for the parks.

School starts here on Thursday. I have been telling my kids that they won't likely go in person until October. I don’t see parks opening before schools in OC.

 I know you're probably right. I hate to cancel and then it opens, but I hate holding on to a reservation that won't happen too. So frustrating! I just wish that DVC/Disney would put a line in the sand more than 7 or 14 days from a check-in date.

I'll be curious to see if they open up 2021 reservations soon. From what I recall, don't they usually start opening up next years hotel reservations in late August/early September? You wouldn't think they'd want to delay doing that since so many people have given up on 2020 and are going next year.

I cancelled our October trip 6-11 trip last week. I decided that even if it was open, with all the changes Southwest kept making to our flights that kept adding time in airports and on planes due to their reduced schedules, it would just add too much stress for me. I'm sad but there's also a part of me that's relieved I know now what our plan is, even if the plan is that we're not going.

We were so much missing DLR that we were looking to hit WDW for a quick getaway for the last week. Alas, SWA stopped our SAN-MCO direct. No way going through phoenix or houston. --- so back to looking at emails Hoping for DLR reopening --- or something. anything.

After watching DtD vlog over weekend -- gotta go get my Jazz Kitchen fix ;)

“AGVA actors were preparing for shows in the delayed Avengers Campus themed land and the canceled Oogie Boogie Bash event, according to AGVA Disneyland representative Steve Rosen.”

(From the article above)

Me whenever Avengers Campus is mentioned at all 👀👀👀
