Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I already paid for my tickets and got them emailed to me when they first announced the July opening date (😒😭) so a bit different for those with tickets in hand. Good to know they’ll let you trade them in!

Unless all places are letting you do that? Haven’t really paid much attention.
There have been reports of DL refunding tickets. But remember there are no tickets for sale at this point so you can’t change your mind until Disneyland allows ticket sales again which could be after they open.

I know this is minor in the grand scheme of things, but I doubt things like Haunted Mansion holiday will happen if we get too much into the fall. That puts any holiday overlays in jeopardy.
Im worried that due to the time between announcing that theme parks can open and DLR actually opening will mean they will forego the overlays to get the place open(possibly, but hopefully not) and that makes me sad. But I would be so ready for a trip that I will suck it up and being my own spooky outfits/accessories🤣 I don’t want to say I’m desperate, but I’m desperate🤷‍♀️

I have a feeling the entire holiday season is in jeopardy at this point. 😔 The longer the closure pushes into Fall I start to wonder if they’d even decorate the castle...

Was just sharing the info that GAT will swap your tickets to WDW in general. As tempted as I am, I’m not going anywhere near Florida just yet. 😅

Yeah- it’s one thing for me to drive 4 hours to DLR, hopping a plane across the country is a whole other travel beast- especially these days!

Funny enough it’s not the ‘Rona that’s got concerned about FL. It’s more the plane tickets, 5000% humidity and hurricanes 😂

LOL this is why we decided to go in January earlier this year. Yes we froze but there were no thunder storms, severe humidity, or hurricanes that threatened our trip hahah

On another note, JW Marriott opens on August 19th!
@StarlitNight05 - I wonder if the closure of the Courtyard by Marriott is related? Nevermind, all three Marriott properties are under different ownership.

Hoping to get to DtD next week (we scrubbed all travel and opted for a beach house in San Diego), had to mentally prep the kiddo to see closed gates :(

My VGC reservation for 9/20-9/21 still active (I'm not going, I'm going to give it away to a local friend if they're open), I went to go check for more future dates and noticed they inadvertently put a link to the WDW theme park reservation page in the VGC results. Whoops. Why yes, I would love to visit Animal Kingdom while staying at the Grand Californian!

ETA -- Correction, JWM opens 8/19 (Wed) not 8/17 (Mon).

Still?!! Exciting! They’ve been pushing it back and pushing it back and pushing it back so I’m glad to see they’re going for it. It’ll bring at least some jobs to the area. (I guess if one wanted to staycation in Anaheim one could probably get a sweet deal on the room price compared to what JWs usually charge!)

And YES! I would love to visit AK while drying at VGC 🤣

We like going to WDW for the events, no events and the transportation nightmare is not worth it. I’d go to DL for the atmosphere alone. I’m more of an OG HM gal so no overlay is fine, but I’m worried this will potentially stop any Christmas theming. Love my Small World Holiday.

I'm guessing it'll take at least 7-10 days from the green light to actually opening the gates. Time to get computer systems up, restock merch, get the staffing schedules done, etc etc. If TDA wants to, since the parks will be closed they could run 3 shifts full tilt to decorate for Halloween/Xmas (whenever opening happens) and not have to worry about disturbing the guests. I'd bet they could get it all done as far as decorations go. But considering how long they take HM down for to do the overlay I'd say that the overlay probably won't happen. Given how careful they have to be to remove/install/program they aren't going to want to rush that.

Of course, that's all pure speculation on my part.

I’m sorry, but if Disneyland is open with minimal holiday decor, that’s depressing. 2020 completely sucks!!!!!! I’m so glad we rode HMH 100,000 times last year 🤣🤣🤣
I completely missed everything in Toon Town last December, because I kept refreshing for HMH FPs. I literally rode 32 times in four days. I had intended on walking through Toon, but just never made it... :rotfl:

All DLR properties are now closed until Sept 16, according the CS rep spoke with a few minutes ago.

EDIT - I got confused about which thread i was posting in! I meant to actually speculate in this thread, not the DLR reopening thread.

Anyway, DLR properties closed through Sept 15, which I thought was interesting given that they'd only been issuing closures a week at a time. With hotels closed it is of course still possible that the parks themselves will open.
Thanks for posting this, appreciate the information. I'd planned to cancel my VGC reservation for Labor Day today anyway after looking at the Covid numbers for CA. They aren't looking good right now.
