Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Since this is a speculation thread.... what does everyone think -- holding a 9/25 - 9/28 VGC reservation. DVC cancelled my Labor Day reservation for me. Thoughts on this reservation?

I *feel* like 'heck no' it isn't going to happen but since I have basically the same dates as you I hope it does! I already mentally decided I would go even if it was just DTD that's open. Well, that and if the concert we have tickets for at the Garden Grove Amphitheater on 9/27.

I had planned a glorious adults only trip and it seems like a lifetime ago (April) that I was booking thinking this virus was going to be loooong gone by September. :sad1:

My adults only trip was in April too! Gahhhhhhhh
Expecting a cancellation email for our September 6 trip any day now....

We had a reservation for Courtyard Theme Park entrance the beginning of December and got this in an email this afternoon:

"Our records indicate that you have a reservation at the Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance. Please be aware that the hotel will be temporarily closing through December 17, 2020 and your reservation has been canceled."

me too! but I got my email today. not that I can likely travel from Canada by then anyway without quarantine

I was actually pretty excited for Avengers Campus to open this year. I know they are behind, but I wonder how far behind?
That's pretty close to a must have for a potential trip this year if DLR opens. Wish there were news about progress.

All the silence on Avengers Campus makes me wonder if they’re hoping for an opening date this year yet to draw people to the park? You’d think if they were pushing it to 2021 they’d just announce it right as next years bookings open up so people can plan.

So is anyone with better knowledge of the hard lines in the sand as far as closures in Cali able to help me out? I guess I need someone to tell me "it is literally not possible!"

We have a flights from PDX on Jet Blue and hotel September 26-29 at the Hyatt House. We were going to see a concert at the Garden Grove Amphitheater and then hit up DL. The concert is outdoors and has not cancelled but I can't see any way that it would be possible with restrictions I am reading online? I mean if there is even a sliver of hope I will gladly hold on to the reservation but it doesn't look like the re-opening--even if if things turned around tomorrow, would allow for it. Not to mention we don't have DL tickets. I can't tell if an outdoor seated concert would be at Stage 3 or 4.

The more I type it the more I think I have my answer. I am just torn between cancelling early and then having DL open and a concert I miss out on! I just know I can barely keep up with Washington's rules so I for sure have no idea about Cali.

I don’t think they care about people having time to plan (this is DLR, not WDW) so much as actually having their park open. I suspect the timeline on AC is somewhat contingent on parks reopening- until they know they have a solid shot at opening best to keep their mouth shut.

If there is no cost to you to wait it out why are you cancelling now? The lovely thing about CA is what is a rule today may or not be a rule tomorrow. Or maybe it’s a rule but with a waiver. You just never know... #WelcomeToCA

I guess you're right. I'm just having the hardest time with the unknown and I don't know if I am being plain stupid for having faith or still might happen. Lol! I'm pretty sure my best friends who are going with us are 100% certain it will all be cancelled. I guess I wasn't sure if there's certain timelines Cali had to be in the phase before going to the next one too. I could swear we had something like that here in WA, like you had to be at one phase for X amount of time before you could move to the next but maybe I'm crazy. I'm trying to loosely keep up on home and any potential vacation destination :Hawaii, Cali, Florida.
So basically I can't remember anyone's rules right!

I'm going to be the voice of reason.

Your concert will be cancelled.

Disneyland will not be open. IF by some miracle it is, they won't be selling new tickets by that point. It will be several weeks while they work through APs and current ticket holder reservations before they even think about resuming ticket sales, and seeing as how you are not booked at a DLR hotel, you won't have a chance to buy tickets.

Cancel your trip and move on. It sounds like this hanging over your head is stressing you out.

DLgal - Where do the numbers need to be to be removed from the watch list? Seems like we are getting closer...

It’s literally not possible.

I honestly do not understand why the concert hasn’t been cancelled. As far as I know this is a stage 4 item aka end of pandemic. We never even made it through stage 3 before we rolled back to stage 2.

DLgal - Where do the numbers need to be to be removed from the watch list? Seems like we are getting closer...
The key factor that Orange County is missing: <100 per 100,000 for three consecutive days --- to get off the watch list. THEN, who knows where the next steps are for theme parks. The known next step is 14 days before SCHOOLs can consider reopening for inperson -- and folk have using that as a litmus test for theme parks --- but that's just a wild guess.

San Diego just got removed from the watch list at Day 5 under the 100 mark; so the state is taking its time on removal. Hopefully they will have SOME guidance for theme parks upcoming.
