I'll be in the area in March, and am hoping for a day or two in the parks (well, park. I dunno if DCA is worth going to right now).

In memorium:

I see we had the same idea, Deletedpenguin!! In your signature you have thumbnails of all the bronze statues that surround Partners, which you shot in black and white (they look very cool:thumbsup2 ). I also did those in black and white this past December (see my Trip Report - the link is in my signature below). They really seem to be just begging for black and white photography, so I have a hunch many other folks have had the same idea!!! If not, they will now!!!:goodvibes

Yes, I thought your signature looked different from the last time I had seen it! But those little bronze statues around Partners and throughout DLR really look great in black and white - I almost think I like them better in B&W than in color. Some things do photograph with more depth and richness in B&W than in color, but other things look so vibrant and alive in color, as we see here every day on this thread, and as shown in your awesome nighttime shot of the DCA Paradise Pier area!:goodvibes That's a great picture, and the colors are instrumental!!

Thank you! Here's another for today:

I may have posted this before. I've lost track. If I did, it has been awhile.

stunning photo!
But why are you titling it 'in memorium'?????

After researching DLR for our upcoming trip, I can answer that. No more sun on the ferris wheel. It will be a Mickey face. I feel kind of sad, we will never see the sun version. To me, it fits with the CA theme.

Here's the scale model for the new look Paradise Pier, complete with Mickey replacing the Sun Wheel:

Wow.....I'm guessing that they are doing this while the park is open?

I'm surprised to see the lagoon empty.

Yes it was during the day. The lagoon is empty because they are working on the new World of Color show that will be in the lagoon. I assume that it will be like Fantasmic in that they will spray water in the air and then project images on to it.
