Thanks for that great explanation about the castle from GBShorts and Sleepless Knight. That story almost rings a bell, but I never knew all the details.
Here's an ultra-wide shot at 10mm for today.....

Another version is that they quickly put the top back on "backwards" when Walt came in and he noticed it. As he looked at it, he decided that he liked it better. It really does look less menacing that way.
And great pictures everyone. I really need to visit this thread more often.
this Pic. was taken on sunday Nov. 23

Am I the only one not seeing this pic? It's weird, because I see the img address for it, but no photo showing. . .![]()

Ithis picture - where were at to get this shot?
I think it's more likely that the Herb Ryman putting the spire on right before Walt walked in is correct and that multiple versions have arisen because the story got misquoted over the years. We do know that Walt deliberately wanted a smaller castle because he wanted it to be more intimate, so this story fits with that very well. That's the version I've heard. It's also the one that's told in the new book The Imagineering Field Guide to Disneyland - according to that, it was Imagineer Herb Ryman (who is also responsible for creating the first bird's-eye-view of Disneyland) who flipped it backwards just before Walt walked in.
I'm not sure which version is true, though . . . I didn't know there could be so many alterations of a different "Disney myth"!![]()
Great pic, eym!
KCMike, NostalgicDad, Eym, I'm loving your castle pics!![]()

And Danny,
That castle shot with the carousel... WOW
Thx - I was thinking that was from 2005, but I just looked at the Exif data embedded in the .jpg, and it says it was taken 12/20/2003.That's great, jlmarr! When was that taken? Last year? It is a great perspective/angle of the bridge against the gray sky, combined with the holiday decorations and the neon lights!
