Hi everyone,

Had a crap day at work yesterday and thought to myself how everyone who was working at Disneyland Paris seemed happy and full of life. A few cast members and hotel staff I asked said that it wasn't just a face, they really were enjoying themselves.

Anyway I decided that night I would like to get a job working there, maybe not as an entertainer (although I would love to but don't have any acting qualifications) but in ICT which I've currenty got a job in at the University of Exeter of which I've learnt some great customer skills dealing with interntational students on a daily basis.

Sadly I couldn't find anything on the forums regarding how to apply and what you will need to sort out if you we're to get a job i.e. housing, medical, bank account...etc

As I've been recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (October 2006) would they take me on and how would I go about getting my medication whilst I was there.

It would be fantastic to see some advice and comments from people whom may have applied before and those who have and still worked at Disneyland Paris.

Regards,

Ryan

I'm sure that this is yet another reason for me to get tossed off this website, but I was offered a position at DLRP preopening.... I turned them down

Hope that it works out for you!!!

If you can get your hands on it, Culture Shock - France is a great book. I use the Culture Shock series a lot as I travel around the world. They focus on long term travel or relocation to various countries, and provide a lot of insight above living in that country - food, currency, daycare, education, work habits, housing, etc etc. If you can't find it locally let me know and I'll loan you my copy - I'm pretty used to France now and won't need it for awhile!!!

re your Diabetes question - insulin is not the same in every country, so you want to check that out. A friend from America forgot her insulin when coming to Canada, and we spent an entire day trying to find a source for her (clinics, hospitals, etc) Since my father is diabetic he tried to help as well.

Her only recourse was to return to America to purchase her insulin

Do we use the 3 strikes and you're out rule:rotfl2:

I'm afraid I can't offer any more advice to you Ryan. But I just wanted to say best of luck if you decide to go for it :goodvibes

Just had to pick this bit out of your post because it made me smile and echoes my thoughts on the CM's I've met over the course of our trips. :)

When I read reports of grumpy, rude and indifferent CM's at DLRP I often wonder if they've visited the same place as I have :confused3 but I suspect these people receive the same poor customer service wherever they go for some reason :rolleyes1

oooh I fear that if I tell you, it would be strike three against me!!! and then I would miss you all (and I am sure that you would miss me as well!) ;)

I also turned down a job at WDW in my past.... :rolleyes1

I would love to hear more about this! What kind of job ect. ect.

And by the way. Does somebody know: Has your Frensh to be perfect to work at DLRP. Or are there also jobs where you can use English as first language and then improve your Frensh skills? :confused3

I heard that Disney as a company are very into their training and spend around 50,000 hours a year (I think) on training.

They have like an academy and also offer language training so I think that shouldn't be a problem, especially as a couple of staff we met could only speak Spanish.

Marcus, last year I approached a young lady at the hostess stand at one of the restaurants and began to ask her something in French. She became very flustered and said 'I am sorry, I don't understand much French'

I asked in English 'do I detect a Dutch accent?' (knowing that the Dutch mostly speak perfect English) She was delighted, and told me that it was her first day, and that she only had very basic French

Wow that is very interesting to know! :scared1:

But her first days must have been very hard then. What if some French who only speaks their only language wanted to ask something? :confused3

I presume they would get someone else who could speak their language to deal with them...we ourselves experienced this whilst at Disneyland Paris in the Beaver Creek Tavern.

I guess you would have to know some key phrases so you could say that you don't speak their language well enough and will get some who understands.

I could help out if the customer was German because I passed my German exams with flying colours but because I haven't used them in such a long time I'm a little rusty...do they get many German visitors?

8% of the visitors are from Germany! (I always thought it would be much more!)
And then are some from Austria and some from the German speaking part of Switzerland! So if you speak German you will have many chances to practice while at Disney!

I think the mail languages in DLRP are
French
English
German
Spain
Italian
