Disneyland Meal Plan??

Hi,

We are planning our first trip to Disneyland end of April beginning of May. When I go to book it through Disney they offer a meal plan. I am considering purchasing the 5 day meal plan. Can someone explain to me how this meal plan works? What do you get, how do you redeem, what is included. I am use to WDW food package which I have loved in the past but I know nothing about Disneylands.

I know the WDW plan well and I think that the DL plan is very similar...

For a moderate cost, you get a snack, a counter service meal, and a sit down dinner meal for every NIGHT of your stay. The night is important as you may stay an extra day, but not have the meals covered. It is designed to save you money, but at Disneyland, it seemed to us that it was not worth the cost. Ay WDW, there are a lot of restaurants and so it was worth it to us. We ate everyday at the plaza and split a meal as they have the largest meals and the yummiest in the park. CA has a loy more for the adult palate, but we still went back to the Plaza as it became a quick favorite (and it was Walts favorite as well) and and extreme money saver. Hope this helps!

At Disneyland you get vouchers. There's almost no savings at all. If you have a $5 voucher and you want to buy something that is $2.50, you do not get change. If you buy two $2.50 items, you'll pay the tax out of pocket.

Most people who like it use it as a way to pre-pay for meals...I personally would rather get gift cards ahead of time to do that, with some disney dollars thrown in for those outdoor carts that can't accept cards.

Really, it isn't a good value. You're much better off splitting with gift cards (preferably Disney ones) and Disney Dollars. Gift cards can be used anywhere with a cash register and Disney Dollars everywhere else.
