Wow, I think this thread needs to end. Sorry, just my opinion but one can only vent about the Matterhorn so much before it gets really old. I don't mean to be rude but I don't think you are "Earning Your Ears" by complaining about Disney, as you can tell we all love Disney here.

I for one think Tino is right to be disappointed... He booked in peak season (as per hydroguys recommendation to avoid refurbs), he even called Disney prior to making his booking only then to have one of the key rides he was targetting closed...

HOWEVER it's happened and there is nothing you can do about it now. Nothing you say or do will cause Disney to shift the refurb schedule so put it out of your mind and get on with planning your holiday or bite the bullet and cancel your holiday and try for next year...

Thank you kiwitravel. I love Disney but I have every right to vent. You dont have to read the thread. I am not hear to earn my ears. I am hear because I was disappointed about something. Um Carebee21 my kids are taken care of I have some money in case of emergency maybe I should have more but you cant take the money with you when you die. Carebee21 maybe you dont understand what the word misinform means because thats the word I used not mislead. Theres a difference, look it up. I know I wasnt misled. I was misinformed. Carebee21 thats the point you just dont get the calendar wasnt out so the guy who laughed at me should have told me. Hey as of right now we dont have a refurbishment scheduele for those days but he didnt. He just told me no said these third party sites were wrong laughed it off like I was so wrong. But put me on hold and supposedly went to ask MICKEY MOUSE or somebody else. What do you want from me. I can only post my experiences with Disneyland so far.,and so far they suck. I have not been there yet If I love it I will post it If I hate it I will post that also. But I can only post whats happened so far.

Listen, I get that you are mad becuase they didn't fully disclose to you about the calendar being out. I agree he should have told you.

Trust me when I say that you will have a great time at Disneyland, Matterhorn or no Matterhorn.

Ride Pirates first. It's not unique to Disneyland but half of it is missing at WDW. Enjoy the Tiki Room without Iago and Zazu! Enjoy Fantsayland with Alice, Casey Junior, Toad and Storybook Canal Boats. Even enjoy it's a small world with the topiaries and the clock show.

If you focus on the negative it's going to be a bad trip. Try to focus on the positives.

I will try. I just hope nothing else is being refurbished when we are there. I wonder if these Disneyland boards would have known by now the way they new about Matterhorn before Disney confirmed it. Is there a dinner package to see fantastic. I only see a dessert sampler. I might try it because it gets me a seat ,I think.

Relax about the Matterhorn. I grew up in NJ and went to DL in 1979 as a teenager. Loved the Matterhorn! Had great memories of it.

Didn't go back to DL until 1994 with my kids but they were too little to ride it so I didn't go on it.

Flash ahead to 2006. The kids are teens and I looked forward to trying the Matterhorn out again. Well, either my memory was a bit off, my body has softened, gravity has increased or the mass of objects has increased over the years but I found the ride to be completely unsatisfactory. The "seat" (more like one of those rollup pads you take camping) made my butt feel every little shake, bump and vibration (of which there were many).

Frankly, not a big deal. If you want something that's WAY more fun that isn't at WDW, go on Indiana Jones. Much more enjoyable.

You can find information like this on the direct Disney website:

http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/fantasmic/

It is a dessert package only. Although you can easily see the show without paying for a dessert package. The package saves you some time (you still need to check in early) and gives you a chair to sit in. Only you can decide if that is worth the money. We personally find it to be too expensive, and would rather save the money. Since you will be there for 7 days, I imagine you will have plenty of chances to see the show without the dessert package.

I would suggest that if you have further questions you start a new thread, as this one is very long and any question you ask is in danger of being lost in the shuffle.

You can also easily use a google search engine to find out information (like the one you asked about the dessert package).

You know what I find interesting. I thought from reading up on Indy and Dinosaur in Disneyworld that they were essentially the same ride. Yet the height requirement for indy is 46 inches. Yet Dinosaur is only 40 or 42 inches. That's a big difference I guess indy, is a little rougher ride. As for the Matterhorn I wanted to ride it more for my kids because they make the height requirment which is shockingly only 35 inches. I thought i
was a misprint when I first read it.

This website (wdwinfo) only lists the following dates for rehab:

•06/13/11 - 06/17/11 - Matterhorn Bobsleds
•06/20/11 - 06/24/11 - Matterhorn Bobsleds

My mousesavers newsletter listed:

Matterhorn Bobsleds (Disneyland) under partial refurbishment 6/13/11-6/17/11, 6/20/11-6/24/11 and 7/11/11-9/1/11.

The fact of the matter is that there is conflicting information on the boards. I can see how call centres might also have conflicting info. Construction timelines get changed all the time, and re-opening dates are never set in stone. I'm not sure what "partial refurb" means. Perhaps one line will be working? Maybe it means it'll be down sporadically.

Try to look at it half-full ... consider yourself lucky if only one ride in DL is down for refurb while you're there. ...and maybe it won't be. ;)

I have the unofficial guide and readers hate the ride. People on these boards hate the ride because they say its boring and not worth the wait. I am repeating what others have said. As far as the Matterhorn what set me off was that I called Disney and didnt get accurate info. Ididnt know the people who answer phones for Disney were clueless to what is going on. So I took to the boards to vent. When somebody spends thousands of dollars that they really shouldnt be spending for a vacation for the kids, I would expect decent customer service, and I didnt get it,plus the guy at the other end laughed it off like I was an idiot for saying Matterhorn would be closed for 2 months.

I wouldn't blame the CMs that you spoke to on the phone - as I think everyone who's checked the refurb calendar can tell you, the refurb hadn't been confirmed when you spoke to them. They didn't lie to you, they simply didn't know. Several people on these boards have contacts above the average CM, that's all :confused3
I think it's unfair to call them 'clueless' - Disney CM aren't supposed to release any information that hasn't officially been announced. So even if they'd heard this, they wouldn't have been able to tell you about it.

As many PP have said - don't let this ruin your vacation. DLR is an amazing place to be. There's such a feeling of magic there :wizard: The lack of the Matterhorn isn't going to change that. And if it does, that's your fault, not Disney's!

I hope you have an amazing time

And if you're seriously this upset that one ride at an amusement park isn't going to be operating while you're there, I think you need to step back and take a good look at you and your life. Because either something mentally is off or there's a much bigger issue going on...

Wow. And, if you get your rocks off by following a thread for the sole purpose of acting like a condescending twit, maybe you should follow your own advice, eh? Talk about issues.

Tino, I understand your frustration, believe me I do. I finally had my daughter talked into going on her first ride on Screamin' (in DCA). Three days before we left there was an accident and the ride was closed for our entire trip. It was bummer, but man, there is so much to do there it was merely a bump in the road. You're going to have a great time!

Also, FWIW, the Matterhorn is NOT a pleasant ride experience. It's very hard on the body and the ride itself isn't necessarily one of those rides where you get off and say "Oh my goodness let's ride it again!". I rode the Matterhorn for the first time in five years back in 2009 (been visiting the parks since about 1977). I went back again last year and didn't even THINK about getting on it again. I have no desire to even ride the darned thing until they do a Space Mountain type of track re-furb. Trust me, you're not missing out on anything but the nostalgia of the mountain, itself, and you can enjoy that from almost anywhere in the park.

;)

Think of it as a blessing in disguise... You are going to love the Disneyland Resort so much that you are going to want to come back next summer. Now you get to use the Matterhorn and the new Carsland as a great reason to make Summer 2012 at the DLR happen! :thumbsup2

Tino, get a grip on reality. It is ONE ride. You need to calm down. Cancel the trip. Who cares, just stop whining. DL doesn't owe you a thing. And we shouldn't be subject to listening to your non stop complaining. And why do you feel the need to cuss so often??? Get help!!!! Man up! I doubt your kids are letting this ruin their vacation. You are what will ruin it in the end.

I like where your head is at! ;)

I have excepted that the Matterhorn will be down, but some people for what ever reason still don't believe it. It's right on Disneyland calendar.

Okay, folks...

I was keeping my eye on this thread yesterday because I could see it had the possibility of careening downhill at any moment. It was teetering on the edge, and I probably let it go on longer than I should have.:goodvibes I hadn't checked it again until now.

I think the thread has run its course, and it's time to close it now. There is no need for rude comments to each other, especially on the open forum - this is not the place for that kind of thing.

Tino has gotten lots of good feedback from everyone about the Matterhorn and how Disneyland handles ride closures.
