Disneyland Hotel-Pool View or Calif. Adv. view?

Not sure how you avoid those small rooms?

I was wondering the same thing. Last time we upgraded to Concierge (a week before our scheduled arrival) and they said there was only a room with 2double beds available (as opposed to 2 Queens). As it turned out, it was one of the small rooms. Well, we got in very late (11:00 pm) and AFTER we unpacked all of our stuff and were ready to jump into bed, we noticed that the carpet was wet near the foot of the bed. We ignored it, but noticed in the morning that the wet spot had spread. We called the front desk and they sent maintenance up right away (like within 5 minutes!). They said the air conditioner was leaking and would we mind changing rooms? Yes, of course! As it turned out, we got a bigger room, with 2 queen beds. It meant we had to re-pack everything and keep it at the bell desk for the day, but it was all worth it. The bathrooms in the larger rooms rock! :cool1: I guess if you're making requests, you should also request 2 queen beds, then maybe you'll get a larger room. I doubt 2 queens would have fit in that small room we had the first night.

Were your beds doubles or queens, or did you even notice?

Oh, and when I was trying to upgrade to concierge I spoke directly to the "room assigner" at the front desk, not the person who answers the phone from "vacation planning" or "reservations". He seemed to have some flexibility in the room assignments and was at least willing to try to help me. He said they assign the rooms either the day before, or the morning of, your arrival. So it might be worth a call that late in the game?!

At one point they did tell me that they assign the larger rooms to larger parties. We only had 4 listed as our party since my SIL decided to go last minute with us. I guess maybe next time, I'd put 5 people down even if there are only 4 of us :-) I was frustrated though because we were checking in at a non busy time and we got there before 8 am and our room wasn't ready until 4:00 (wasn't ready by 3:00 check-in) and then we got the tiny room. It seems to me, they should give senority to you getting a room if you check-in early - or at least schedule house cleaning to your room first!

On our visit the previous time I asked for adjoining rooms...well, we got rooms next to each other but the doors to each of our rooms opened to someone else's room not to each other. Apparently if you want the door to open to the other room you have to ask for connecting not adjoining.

Needless to say my 2 stays on-site have been frustrating. We have contemplated buying DVC but after this...not sure if I want to!

The irony is that twice, when it was just my older son and I, we were put in bigger rooms (two queens with the couch/daybed), and then when all four of us went, we were put in the small room with just two double beds. (All three times we booked "standard" rooms.)
