Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend 2025

I mean selling out in under an hour for both the 5 and 10 is still incredibly fast when comparison to the average non rD weekend.

Because there are so many 5k and 10k races all over the country, they're usually not really considered "destination races" like say a major marathon would be, like people coming all over the world for The Boston Marathon. But for rD, every race is a race that people from all over will flock to participate.

I mean selling out in under an hour for both the 5 and 10 is still incredibly fast when comparison to the average non rD weekend. So I wouldn’t say there is less demand. We just have a skewed view
Fair point… and I will admit I might have been too fast to share my thoughts, cause like literally a minute later the 5k went sold-out.

Still, the chaos feels much less, and in a way that seems to be more than IT related. This is by far the easiest registration I’ve ever done for a rundisney event (well non-virtual anyway).

And yes, perspective is skewed by all of the past pain with rD registrations. I have a few other runs I do on a regular basis, and *if* they sell out, it’s in the last week or so. Though they are all much, much smaller.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out over the rest of this morning and the next few days.

Oh, wow. The 10k is back open.,

It all ended up working out. Had a web browser Registration Queue ID ready and it worked and had the 'Register and Pay' button. However, that button did not appear on the iphone safari app (even with refreshing and populating all fields).

Overall signed up for Dumbo Double Dare!

DD and I are in for the half, and DD and DS are in for the 5k, but it was not without anxiety. I was in pretty quickly on my computer, but once I got to the pay page it kept looping me back to the sign in page, followed by a text verification (which I hiostriclly never get). I gave it a few attempts, changed credit card, and when it still didn't work, I had another "fresh" queue ready to go. This is why people do multiple devices, Disney, although admittedly it was much smoother today. I had a number of devices within a few minutes of each other. DD did the 5k registration on one of the devices, and I just did the half. Stressful but happy to be in. Although of course now I'm regretting not signing up for the Dumbo again, LOL. I wonder if the race problems from last year's event dissuaded some people from going again.

By this time late year, everything but the 1/2 was sold out, including the kid's races, and yoga. I'm a bit surprised that the 5k and 10k fell line with the 2024 registration, but Dumbo is lagging.

I still stand by the fact that last year's Disneyland Half Marathon was absolute garbage and it's why I am only doing the 10k in September and in February because I am not going to put my faith that they listened to the complaints and fixed anything until after they actually show me that they did. So maybe that can have something to do with it as well.

The 10k keeps opening and closing again. Kind of weird.
Site glitch I’m guessing.

I think the reschedule isn’t helping. Because some people took off time for the reg. And probably couldn’t manage to do it so close togefher

What happened with the hlaf last year? My DW never said anything about it, and I didn't hear anything from all the other runners as we were moseying around the parks.

Oh geez, well, the bottle neck that happened during mile three in DCA was a HUGE thing for me. We literally stood still for minutes. So many minutes. It was awful. And I just feel like they were not ready to bring back the DL races to the standard that they used to be at. The city was more involved. The course had more things along it once you left the parks. The park time for the HM was so minimal. Like, I just was not pleased for the amount of money I am throwing at these people.

My only beef with the theme is how somebody thought the Groot design should be red and orange (green and something would be a LOT more appropriate). Made me wonder how "off" the rest of the theming was going to be ... I barely even looked at the stuff for sale ... but I usually find that stuff becomes clutter anyway.

I’ll give you the other stuff but expecting more than a few miles in the parks for DL was always the consumer base trying to use a WDW standard that just doesn’t work for DL. It’s always been on the short side

They can fix the other stuff. But the mileage in the park isn’t going to change too much. And anyone going into a DL 1/2 needs to realize that.

This is the drawback of having a smaller park. It’s always been only a few miles in the park.this has been consistent even before the hiatus.

(And I’m not saying stuff needs to improve it does. Character stops especially. But holding that particular issue up isn’t a great idea because there’s only so many ways to pull this off. That’s just setting up for disappointment.)

Sure yes, I have been running Disneyland for years and I get that. But I still think they really lacked in mileage this last time. And what they lack in mileage in the parks needs to have entertainment made up for in the city, IMO. So, I just choose to run the race I like the most, which is the 10k. Which also could have used SO MANY MORE Characters during it, but I digress.

Thanks for all the memories, LOL, and don't forget the horrible lines getting back into the esplanade for those of us staying at Disney hotels. That was the WORST. I hope they fix that or do runner only lines.
