Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend 2009 - WISH meet

I started a new thread so we can post our bib numbers. Is it a wave or corral start?

Thread for bib #'s can be found here. I can't answer about wave or corral start, I plan to find out when I get there.

Thanks for creating a link, Lily! I hope to get some time later on today and edit the first post to show a listing of all those who have posted numbers.

Thanks, Robert for clarifying about the waves. Based on last year's info, it looks like I'll be with the middle group.

Aloha Jeff, did we decide where/when to meet? Hard to get all these ducks in a row, isn't it?

I'll be arriving Friday evening -- and I have to hit the expo and catch some zzzzzzzs -- big time zone change, then I'm up to walk the 5K on Saturday. That means Saturday is probably better for me. I'll be leaving Tuesday -- and looking to celebrate my birthday Monday (or all weekend!!!).

I'm planning to try for the special birthday pass on Monday -- anyone ever got one? Apparently it's like the special fastpass that my family "won" on our last visit -- except it gets me and my party of 5 to the front of the line. Yowsa! Anyone that wants to hook up for some park hopping, let me know. And I gotta hit the Mission Tortilla place and get my free birthday tortilla... I love my birthday!!!

Enough about me! I hope to catch up with you guys sometime during the weekend.

Hi Wendy.......my new best friend! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

The Fast pass is certainly an option, but if you already have your park tickets, I believe you can get a giftcard for the cost of a one-day admission. In FL, I got one for $75.....probably a little less in CA. You can use it for any merchandise at the parks or hotel gift shops. They will not let you use it for food. I bought myself a nice souvenir (a Mickey garden gnome) and still have money left over for my next trip. I'm not sure if the WDW card is good at DL and vice versa, but you can ask. It's your birthday, you may as well treat yourself to something nice.

Hi Wendy, I met you last year on the DL half as we were wogging around the POND.

Yes, if you don't get an email to exchange for your birthday entrance/gift card, just bring your ID to show them at guest services.

We'll probably catch up with you at DL and hang out a bit with you! I can't wait!

Marcia

I've been slacking on the threads, but I'll be there for the DL half and am interested in one or more meets. :)

I didn't see a general DL 1/2 Marathon thread, so I hope it's okay that I post this here...

For those who have done the race before, do you ever go straight into the parks after finishing? Other than being stinky and sweaty, I can't think of any reason why I'd need to go back to the hotel first before hitting the parks. Normally I'm not up early enough for rope drop, but after the race seems like a good opportunity to get in and avoid the long wait for the popular rides.

Just realized I never posted to this thread....... :confused3

John (Space Ranger) & I will be doing the 5k on Saturday & the Half on Sunday. Staying at Howard Johnson's on the Entertainment Rate. :cool1:

Looking forward to the WISH Meets (Friday & Saturday at 7pm in front of Jamba Juice......right?????) Hopefully we will be able to make it to both. :)

Front of the line pass or $75... I'll pick riding with my friends. (You see why DH the budgeteer is hopelessly frustrated with me???? :rotfl2:) Remember though that Monday is my birthday, so if no one is hanging around, then I'll get the cash, I guess...

I do not yet know what we have planned, but Scott and I will try to stop by Jamba Juice at least one of the nights to say Hi to everyone!

We don't leave until Tuesday so we'll definitely hang with you, but my suggestion is to take the gift card! :thumbsup2

Getting our WISH shirts ready for next week's presentation!

Hi Lynn!! Hope we will get to see you and Scott there! Both Eric and I are entered. We will be arriving too late for the Friday meet but will try to make the Saturday meet.

Travel plans are coming together so looks like we should be able to make both dates.

I miss seeing you all since Jan!

Hard to believe only 5 weeks away :banana::banana:

This will be our first ever DL trip. Sat and Sun we will have park hoppers and plan to be inside for much of it. I'm definitely looking forward to meeting up with folks and we'll be looking for everyone. I'll try to be at the meet-up places where we can. We will be doing our best to jam in as much as we can for the short weekend trip.

I don't know about going into the parks right after the event. I understand that there will be time to enjoy the parks since they are smaller than WDW so I'm heading for a change of clothes and a refreshing shower.

Hope to run across you in the parks if not FE!

Sorry I missed this question -- After the 5K, I go straight into the parks. After the half, though, I need a shower and a cool swim or soak (and change of clothes) before I'm park-ready. But I will definitely be in the parks afterwards -- Gotta wear that medal around, right????

And as far as the characters during the races -- I remember bands and stuff outside the parks, but I only remember charcters inside -- which sorta makes sense, as the Disneyland Half isn't confined to as much private Disney property as the WDW half is. (I mean no criticism -- that's just the way it is.)
