Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

Same!

Is the expo for this going to be wild like what we just experienced at MW? Are people planning to get there Wednesday or Thursday for all three races?
I've never done a DL race before and am only going on my experience with WDW and MW (hence the ridiculously early reservations 😂 ). I reserved Jan. 10-15 but the first and last days are based on timing to fly out and back from NC. I also haven't really decided what races I want to try for so I covered myself in case I choose the challenge.

This far out those rates will continue to change. The uptick in booking right now is likely what's causing that rate hike. It'll settle out before the weekend. Just keep an eye on it and rebook as it dips.

There's one hotel, I forgot which one, which has prices in the "reasonable" range until the end of November. Then on December 1, the prices all shoot to like $900/night until mid-January.

The entire hotel can't be that busy for a month a half this far in advance, can it?

EDIT: It's the Residence Inn Anaheim. Prices for 5 nights are anywhere from $1000 to $1750 for anytime between now and the end of September. Starting October 1, it's $4495 for 5 nights, regardless of which 5 day period is booked.

It's possible they have an event or conference scheduled this far out that could be pushing those rates. Likely it's just the standard calculation setting those this far out. The likelihood of someone booking this far in advance is that they MUST have that room, and hotels know that. The rates WILL drop.

If it's fully refundable and the hotel you want, they may not even charge to book it. Go ahead and grab the room and just watch for a price drop to rebook. Me personally, I'm waiting. DH is Titanium with Marriott so we'll book the JW either on points or cash, but not until much closer to the dates. It is highly unlikely to sell out (and even if it does he's guaranteed a room because of his status, either there or another nearby property).

A 3 1/2 month conference, at Disneyland? Wow! :) No, I think it's just too far out.

I am looking to book September and the Hyatt House has some crazy rates then too, like $1000/night. They don't even have January open yet. I wouldn't be too worried just yet, there are so many hotels in Anaheim and rates should drop. Heck, when I booked Halloween at the BWPPI I didn't pay that much more than any other time of year. I have a million Capital One and Citi points I don't have any use for so I think I'll convert to Wyndham and look at Hojo. I've never stayed there but it's 30k points per night year round. I'm still trying to convince myself not to do Marathon Weekend AND Disneyland but I love making poor choices so I'm trying to see how cheap I can make Disneyland if I book the hotel and flight on points. I guess I can hope I get locked out of registration so I don't have to make the decision. I would just to the half or challenge and fly out Thursday after work. Still risky with MN weather in January but do they do un-advertised emergency bib pick up before the races like WDW? I'd hope that if my Thursday flight got cancelled I'd still get out by Friday. We have had terrible snow/ice this year so hoping next January will be the opposite, ha!

I have Hilton Honors points so I was looking at Hiltons, and all of their hotels near the convention center are listed as sold out. Is that possibly true? Or are they just not available to book yet? Other hotels in the area (but not walkable) are available to book.

I don’t think they can be booked yet. I’m Diamond so I can usually book rooms at sold out hotels. It doesn’t show that for me right now.

Yeah the Hilton I usually book for LA trips doesn’t allow reservations this far out either, I booked a trip for Jan 2019 and I remember it taking a bit before I could book the hotel portion (and the rates weren’t great when I finally had the ability to do so).

This is my issue, only I have club registration so I can’t even leave it up to chance. It’s not a bad problem to have, just not good for the budget!

Well you paid for the club which means you are OBLIGATED to sign up, right? Or it's a waste of money, right? Gotta spend a few K so the few hundreds aren't a waste, right? I think that's how finances work... :rotfl:

that’s pretty much how my brain has been trying to justify it… and it’s only this once that I’ll have guaranteed registration, so I’ll definitely only do it this one time and never again, right? 😂
