Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

In addition to the Westin mentioned by @DLgal, there is a Residence Inn along Katella Avenue on the opposite side of the convention center

I was actually looking at this Residence Inn. Just putting in random dates (the Marriott calendar doesn't go out quite far enough yet), the Residence prices looked do-able. And having extra space and a full kitchen are great perks.

I'm in the early stages of planning on what to do, where to stay, and how to get to Anaheim. As for the three properties on site (DH, GCA, PP) are there any difference in onsite benefits between the three? Like how in Orlando, Deluxes get that Extra time once a week in one park that the moderates and values don't get?

There aren’t necessarily any different onsite benefits (they all give guests the 30 minutes 🙄 of early entry to either park), but proximity/amenities vary greatly between the three. We own at VGC, but also will occasionally stay at DLH if my husband has a conference there. We will never stay at PPH. Elevator issues and lack of dining are current issues, but they really threw guests a bone with their own entrance to DCA. 🤭😆

Anyhow, if you plan to go to the parks, you can’t beat the proximity that GCH provides. It has its own entrance into DCA, and an entrance to DTD. DLH is more of a walk, but a decent perk is the monorail into DL (if it’s actually operating). Truthfully though, you can easily find other extremely close accommodations that will save you a ton of money unless you’re set on staying onsite. The 30 minute early entry is not worth the upcharge IMO considering that many times the majority of the rides aren’t even open. 🥴

We prefer Hyatt as our hotel of choice. It looks like there is a Hyatt House Anaheim near the convention center. Is this relatively close? It says there is a shuttle to the parks. Thank you for sharing details about the location and accommodations! It’s so helpful!

I'm not that married to staying onsite. I just wanted to see if the benefits are worth the costs. There's so many close hotels, that walking over seems to be a fairly decent option for quite a few of these places.

IMHO the on-site benefits are NOT worth the cost at DL. There's a much larger price gap between on-site and off-site and not nearly as many benefits as at WDW. It's so so easy to walk to DL from a huge variety of properties nearby.

We have stayed at the residence inn and springhill suites at the convention center so right across from the Hyatt House. Quick 10-15 min walk to the parks on a well lit street with lots of other people, most people stay off site at Disneyland. It’s located by a CVS, Walgreens etc for quick and last minute items and a number of quick restaurants too!

Has anyone stayed here:

Courtyard by Marriott Anaheim Theme Park Entrance.

I have only stayed at Disneyland hotel but for budget we will probably not be able to do that so this place looked great for us. We have marriott points and I will bringing my son who will be turning 7.

We’ve stayed here as well and it was great! I will say our favorite parts were the water park (likely too cold in Jan) and the large rooms! Quick walk to the parks (7 min) and close to Panera, McDonald’s etc for quick meals or snacks on the way to the parks.

I'm not planning on doing the first few DL race weekends, but wanted to share that back in 2016 & 2017 I stayed at the Anaheim Fairfield Inn across the street. It was nice, if unremarkable, just a few minutes' walk from the parks and race starts, and most importantly, WAY less expensive than the DL resorts. I really wanted to stay on site for those trips, but the DL resort rates were just ridiculous for me.

The only reason why we stayed at DL hotel when I did my race because we booked through a travel agent and got a packaged deal which included the races tickets! I miss being able to book with a travel agent and getting guaranteed race spot :(

We are planning on staying at VGC but we’ve stayed at best western park place for previous races. It is right at the crosswalk! It’s basic but totally fine!

That's what I did for my DL race weekends, too. You didn't have to book a package with an on-site hotel. They had a couple of good neighbor hotels as options for the bib packages.

We happen to be staying at the BW Anaheim Inn on S Harbor Blvd at the beginning of May. So that would also be a convenient location for the half marathon weekend?
Absolutely, it's just a couple doors down from the BW Park Place Inn which is basically at the cross walk.

I haven't planned what my kids (high schoolers) will be doing that day yet, but I know it will be independent work. :rotfl:
Mine are first graders!!! I thought about trying but if things go haywire… either with Disney or my class (which both seem likely) it’d be a disaster!
