Disneyland FTW Question...

Janet, I am so excited you are planning another event at Disney. I know it will be fantastic, just like your VR and othe other fun events you have planned. Keep us posted.

Malibelle, thank you for the kind words. I have no idea what kind of vow renewal we're going to have for our 25th anniversary, but I promise to fill everyone in on it as soon as I figure things out. However, that probably won't happen until the middle of next year, so you're gonna have to stick around. ;)

At some point I will start a Planning Journal. I'll probably wait until early next year to do so.

I'm also toying with the idea of starting my own blog where I can put all sorts of wild & crazy ideas. Believe me, I have so much stuff floating around inside my head that even I am amazed by it. Of course, the limiting factor will be pricing. A girl can only dream so big before reality rears its ugly head.

I am approximately 2 years from my 25th wedding anniversary. Since I have time on my side, I went to the Disneyland Fairy Tale Weddings website and filled out the "Request Information" page: click here.

In response to what I filled out, I received a generic e-mail message. My question is, will they also send me a brochure in the US Mail or do I need to telephone them and ask for it specifically?

I posted that on September 29, 2007. It is now November 13, 2007 and I still haven't received anything in the US Mail. I guess I got my answer, at least as it pertains to Disneyland.

I only bring this up since today I received an e-mail for something (I forget what) and included with it was a link for info from the FTW folks in WDW. I threw caution to the wind, clicked on the link, and filled out the form. I think the webpage mentioned that I should be receiving something from FTW in WDW within the next two to three weeks.

After I had done that, I headed over to the DL FTW webpage. I re-filled out a request for info, but this time I stated that I wanted a brochure and/or DVD/CD with information pertaining to a FTW in Disneyland / Disney's California Adventure. I don't know if such a thing exists, but if it does, I'm now on record as having officially requested it.

So, the race is on. Who will send me something first? ;)

LOL...hard to say...

Oh, and I can't believe that I didn't answer this before, but you know how you get the FTW folder with stuff from WDW? DL has one of those, too...

I really can't wait to see what you plan! I think if Disney granted wishes, you'd be the wedding planner for every girl here! :goodvibes

Cryssi, I see how you are. Withholding information from me, eh? And to think I thought we were all friends here on the Dis. You don't by any chance happen to work for the FTW organization in Southern California, do you? It appears that they've been with holding information from me, too. :lmao:

Seriously, I didn't know whether or not they had a brochure. I had HOPED that they did, but I didn't know for certain. Thank you for clarifying that for me.

Is there anything else that you're not telling me? Now's the time to come clean. Come on, spill the beans! ;)

I really can't wait to see what you plan!

Pezalicious, I can't wait, either. I actually spent some time surfing the 'net yesterday looking for prior events that have been held in Disneyland. The ones that I found were corporate type of events. Movie premieres and so on. Big ticket item stuff. But it was fun to see a few of the things that have been done there.

So, the race is on. Who will send me something first? ;)

Disneyland sent me another "generic" e-mail. This one, however, had one major difference in it. I'll list the original e-mail message first, and then I'll list the most recent one. You tell me what you see.

:faint: WTH??? Dang! We should have done the sleeping beauty castle wedding...I believe the minimum at the time was half as much...

Oh and Janet, I will see what I can dig up at home tonight...I'm not intentionally witholding, I promise! :rotfl:

Disneyland Resort park weddings begin at $100,000.00.
QUOTE]

What are they smoking?! I called them just 3 months ago and was told that a park wedding started at $60,000 but they were working on a "budget" package starting at $25,000. If anything, they should be getting cheaper!

Just proves my theory that WDW's DFTW is WAY more on the ball than Disneyland's ;)

I think that when we started planing back in 2002 an in-DL park wedding was around $50k. They were still doing intimate ceremonies beside the castle for ~$1800 if you had 15 or fwer guests. We considered that option but there as no way it would hapen. But the price increase doesn't surprise me. Nor does the organizational skills of DL FTW.

I’m sorry I haven’t been around in a few weeks. Real life has gotten in the way (just like it has a habit of doing).

Even though I haven’t been around here on the Weddings/Honeymoons Board, I have been sporadically on the Dis. But I’ve been confining myself to updating one of my old trip reports. Yes, I’ve finally started fixing the broken links in (and also adding photos to) my old FTW VR Planning Session trip report (click here).

It’s a very slow & tedious process since it became painfully obvious to me that I needed to replace an awful lot of the photos in my on-line photo albums. You see, when my photos were moved from Yahoo to Flickr over the summertime, what used to be a passable resolution on Yahoo is sadly no longer the case on Flickr. I’ll share with you an example of what I’m talking about below (it's a screen capture but it should get the point across):

On the left side is an old low-resolution photo of mine, and on the right side is a higher-resolution photo that I replaced it with. I bet you can now understand my predicament. The low-res photos were simply driving me batty!

It’s going to take me a long time to replace all of the photos in my on-line photo albums. So, for now, I’m simply going to start replacing the ones that pertain to my trip reports. Since my FTW VR Planning Session trip report mentioned my Summerhouse dinner party, my Summerhouse photo album was one of the first albums that I began replacing. I’ve also found a little time to replace a handful of the extraneous photos surrounding my planning session. Eventually, I’ll move onto the photos from my planning session, and then the photos from my vow renewal.

Like I said, it’s a slow and tedious process for me – compounded by the fact that I’ve been using an iMac for the past couple of months and the vast majority of my photos reside on my Microsoft-based PCs. ARG! One of these days I’m going to bite the bullet and purchase Photoshop for the iMac. Until I do, I'll have to perform my work on two different computer platforms –- a Microsoft-based PC for any photo work (since that's where my Photoshop software resides), and an iMac for everything else (since I'm really loving my iMac).

I don’t know when I’ll be back on the Weddings/Honeymoons Board, so I’d like to take a moment to wish everyone “Season’s Greetings!” I’ll share below the holiday greeting card that I sent to my family last week (I used Shutterfly). I had a lot of fun creating it.

Since those were screen captures and thus low-resolution, I'll share a copy of the cover artwork below since it's of a higher-resolution:

That's my husband & I surrounding Santa Claus, while our son & daughter are in the background.

I'm awfully glad that my husband & son have such wonderful senses of humor, otherwise that picture wouldn't have been possible. I'm not the type to send out a "serious" type of greeting card. But you folks already know that about me, don't you? ;)

I hope to begin posting a little more frequently soon. Season's greetings, everyone!

Janet

I haven’t received any planning info from either Disneyland or Walt Disney World. I’m going to have to break down and contact the FTW folks via the telephone. I’ll do that once the new year begins.

I also was trying to squeeze in a Disneyland trip over the holidays, but I can’t get a room reservation at any of the three Disney resorts. Drats! I was so hoping to do a little impromptu VR location scouting. Oh, well. Perhaps I'll consider booking a trip for Easter or late spring instead.

I just wanted to wish you a happy holidays to you and your family! My VR planning is coming along well - our planning session is in 2 months! I hope Santa brings you something nice this year!

Cryssi, I'm sorry I didn't read your post when I popped into the Dis the other night. I simply did a drive by posting, you know how it goes (!!).

Yes, you should have done the castle wedding, you silly girl! But at least that site is available should you decide to renew your vows one day (hint! hint!). Start saving your pennies now. ;)

Okay, Lurkyloo, I'm gonna blame you. Had you not asked, the price tag would have stayed down a level or two. But, oh, no, you had to go and ask, didn't you? Shame on you!

All kidding aside, I was just as surprised by the new price tag as you were. Perhaps when my 25th anniversary rolls around, the price tag will drop. Way down...

A girl's gotta have dreams, doesn't she? ;)

RangerPooh, an intimate ceremony beside the castle for ~$1800 sounds like a steal. Wow! I wish Disney would bring back the good old days, ~sigh.~

I still can't believe that they don't offer an in-park photo package to their FTW couples. That is probably the most surprising difference between Disneyland and Walt Disney World weddings / vow renewals.

Janet! Long time no see (hear? post?)! LOL I highly doubt DH will want to do a VR (ever) since we went all out for the wedding :headache: ...but perhaps one of these years I can persuade him to do an Intimate VR at the World...

Lisacope, hello! And happy holidays right back at ya -- and your family, too!

I actually thought of you the other day when I was replacing some of my Summerhouse photos on Flickr. Over the years, many folks have asked me what the Wishes fireworks look like from the Grand Floridian's marina location. I used to have just one or two fireworks photos in my old Summerhouse album, but last week I decided that wasn't enough. I uploaded all of the fireworks photos that my Disney photographer took during my party. They're now located in their very own Flickr album: click here.

When the album opens, simply click on the "View as slideshow" link (top, right-hand side of that webpage). As the photos appear, they should give you a small glimpse of what the fireworks look like from the marina venue. And if you have the Wishes soundtrack, play it when you're viewing the slideshow. It should make you feel like you're actually right there at my party. Make sure to enjoy yourself -- that's the only request that I have of my guests! ;)

I know that you have a marina party planned for your FTW vow renewal. I hope my photos add a little bit to the excitement that you must be feeling as the year 2008 gets ready to begin. Your vow renewal will soon be here and I'll be viewing your photos instead. My, where has the time gone?

Cryssi, never say never. You never know what a man will want to do when the time comes. If you check out the following post in my old trip report (see below), you'll see that my husband took me completely by surprise. Make sure to play the music video (link given in post) because that's how my husband made me feel after 20 long years of marriage. That man was full of surprises. And still is.

Click here to read my post.

Boy, have I said lately how much I love my husband? ;)
