Any recent experiences with the Disneyland Express and HoJo? Do they go to the DLH first and require a bus transfer or not? How long did you spend on the bus when arriving from the airport? I've read some horrific stories on here about being on the bus 45 minutes AFTER going to the DLH, and I'd rather not go through that. We are flying into SNA, and I would rather not go to DLH and eleventy billion other hotels before getting to the HoJo. I am impatient, and my kids are too ;). So what has been the recent experience with Disneyland Express? Thanks!!! :goodvibes

We used the Disneyland Express, but not when we were staying at Hojo. It does stop at the DLR hotels first and then drops off at the other hotels (it took us about 45 to get from LAX to the Grand Californian). I know there is a Disneyland Express bus stop directly in front of the check-in building at Hojo.

If you are that impatient though, you should probably look into private transportation because even shared van rides can take a long time (and in my experience, way more time than the DE) as they can make several stops not anywhere near close together.

I took Super Shuttle last year, there was only one other passenger on the way to the hotel, and we were dropped off first. We arrive midday on a Thursday, so I'm not too worried about crowds on SS. The thing is, I don't want to bring my car seats. I'm traveling solo with 2 kids, and I can't manage them and all of our stuff. So I'm trying to avoid SS. But if the bus takes forty forevers to get to the hotel, I'll suck it up and take SS. Private limo/car service is way out of the budget.

we did super shuttle 3 times from SNA, each time was great except the last time when we shared with 3 other familys. OMG talk about crowded, and it took forever.
This time we are flying into lax and will be doing the disney express. Im not worried about the time it gets in, we will b e flying in at 7:30 at night so all I need to do is get checked in and go to milli's for a meal then to bed!

We took the disneyland express last year. We waited 20 mins at SNA airport for the bus. We got on with another family. They were staying at the GC, we were staying at BWPPI. We got dropped off first.:cool1: I thought the family staying at the GC would get dropped off first.

I have taken both the Disneyland Express and the Super Shuttle and have had different experiences on both.
I have been on a Disneyland Express that is almost full and it can take a long time to drop off everyone at their hotels and in my experience, they seem to drop off at Hojos last.
I have also been on their bus with one other family so we went directly to the Disneyland Hotel, stopped their and paid, dropped off their family at their hotel and then directly to Hojos.
How long it takes to get to your hotel is directly related to how many people are on the bus and how many different hotels they are staying at.
I have also taken Super Shuttle a few times. Once we went directly to our hotel and got dropped off immediately.
Unfortunately, the other times we visited several neighbourhoods in Anaheim and Beuna Park to drop off residences and on one occasion, the driver got a little lost. Those particular trips were the longest ones ever!
I prefer the Disneyland Express because I would rather go directly to the Disneyland Hotel and then drive around Anaheim dropping off other passengers than drive around neighbourhoods I am not familiar with.
But that is just me!
I think that if you are impatient, a shuttle is better but I would make certain that you were going directly to the Disneyland resort area before I got into it!

Hi! This is a little off topic, but was wondering what they charged you to use the Disneyland Express?

My Sister will need to get back to LAX from the Grand, and I wanted to let her know the cost.

Thanks!:goodvibes

I believe the round trip cost is $30 for adults and 24 or 25 for kids.

I have a party of 6 so it may be a different story for me, but I am sold on the taxi. We get a van taxi for $40 + tip from Long Beach. I'm sure it's a little more from LAX, but the Disneyland Express is only good for the cool decorations on the outside of the bus IMO. I was freaking out because the bus didn't come for a long time and I thought I was in the wrong place. The whole experience was just too much. The taxi will stop at the grocery also, which was a huge bonus for me since we didn't have a car. The return taxi to LGB did cost $60 FYI. I think airport taxis are more price controlled.

Here's the DL Express site if you want pricing:

I don't know if they're still in business, but this is the van company HoJo recommended we take back to SNA in 2005. They were the same price as a cab...flat rate...and the three of us had the van to ourselves.

I'm not sure how they work arrivals, but I'm sure the gals at HoJo would be able to give you details!

I may be doing this myself...I'm still working on the fine details of a car rental, hoping I can get a company to drop us to HoJo's since we don't need picked up!

We just got back from your DL trip. We flew into LAX, took the Disneyland Resort Express bus and stayed at the Hojo. After the first stop at the Disneyland Hotel, where they asked for vouchers or payment (about a 10 min process), it was only about a 15 or so minute ride to the Hojo. It totally depends on how many people are on the bus and where they are staying.

We arrived on a Tuesday, so the bus wasn't packed, maybe only half full. After the DL hotel, we stopped at 2 or 3 places first.

Our 5 yr old son was impatient too, but we didn't go into the parks the first day anyways, so we didn't lose any park time b/c of the bus. We went to DT Disney and ate at the Rainforest Cafe and did some shopping.

Yes it does make a difference there! :)

And also the OP doesn't want to take carseats, so that really does leave the DLR express.

Now I haven't taken the bus TO the resort, only from it (and I left from DLH), but our bus definitely didn't have the cool "wrap" on it. Plain white boring bus. Sigh.

We stayed at Tropicanna and Carousel, both close to Hojos and can say that the hotels across from DL on Harbor seem to be the last ones dropped off after DLH. The good news is they are also the last ones to be picked up when you go to leave.

But in all honesty it is not a huge wait, it depends on how many people are on the bus.

Last summer I had a bad experience with Disneyland Express Bus out of LAX. We waited a loooooooooong time for a bus! We called the phone number on the invoice (I had prepaid, which was a mistake) and they said that the bus must have just picked up and another would be there in 20-30 minutes. We waited some more and called again, they said they had called the bus driver and he'd be there soon. Minutes later the bus doesn't stop and just zooms by. He was full! We call again! They say, "soon"! Next bus, stops and tells us we can get on if we are willing to stand in the aisle---I don't think so! We wait, finally get on a bus (at least an hour and 45 min wait) and quickly make it to Anaheim. Brief stop at Disneyland Hotel, Hojo was the second stop. Meanwhile, at least 3-4 shuttles and countless taxi's had offered to take us for less than we had prepaid for Disneyland Express! I don't know if my experience was typical but if it happened to me, I'm sure it's happened to others! Forewarned!

When we stayed at HOJO's last year we were the last drop off coming from SNA.

This past March we stayed at Park Vue....the bus was late picking us up to take us back to the airport. Not only that but they had to take us to DLH where we transferred to ANOTHER bus. Then we got on the freeway and the carpool lane was at a dead stop. We made it on time...but it wasn't a fun experience.

I have not done it but I called harolds limo service it is 65 bucks up to 6 people and 85 up to 9.

This was from long beach

I know he does san ana and lax but not sure if it is a different price

I ended up gettiing a full size rent a car for 22 bucks a day for 6 days for a total of 173.00 name my own price on priceline.
