Disneyland Divas: Working out, getting healthy and thin in 2010!!

Happy Tuesday!

I'm excited to see more frequent posts on this thread! :woohoo:

No weight loss for me, but I feel incredible and am still on a high from the 17 pounds that I have lost in the past two months. :goodvibes

Yesterday after my walk, my momma told me she was proud of me for sticking with my workouts and healthy eating. I can't remember the last time anyone told me they were proud of my for anything. So that really made my day.

Have a happy and healthy day! :goodvibes

Yay Wendy! :thumbsup2

Hi all! I am happy to say that I am back on track today and feeling good (thanks Cristabel!).

No, thank YOU!

I am proud of you!

Just had two turkey dogs, two pieces of whole grain bread, and a fruit medley with water for lunch. I'm full, yay! :cool1:

Got back from wi and was only up .4! I KNOW that is just from my period and the food from yesterday so I am pleased as can be! Next week will be a great loss!:thumbsup2 I had brussel sprouts for dinner! They were delish!

SarahMay

Donna, I am so glad that you lie to the driverslicense people too.
:lmao: They don't come out and ask - do you weigh the same? So I'm just not volunteering any info... ;)

zero point soup (you can make this, or get some low point Progresso),

4. Make yourself a vision board: put a picture of that dress you want to wear, that swimsuit you want to buy. Have something in front of you to remind you why you are doing this program, even when it isn't fun. And write down reasons you're doing this and read them everyday.

I went to the gym yesterday and today. Tomorrow I have my fitness evaluation. Fun. I also got some tea bags instead of that sugar crystal tea I was drinking. I have a lot of tweaks I can make to my diet that will no doubt add up to some weight changes. Hopefully won't be too scary to step on the scale tomorrow as I don't think I will have the same emotional reaction to kilos as to pounds. Oh, please don't have them convert the scale for me. I just don't want to know. :scared1:

And for the QUOTE OF THE DAY

Ah, your great quotes are back! Good tips there.
I'm so happy you got your own tea bags. Good luck on the wi tomorrow!

I feel your pain! That mean old aunt paid me a surprise early visit yesterday, and she came on with a vengence! Luckily, I still have this cold, so I have no appetite. But I just feel yucky.

Sorry about that. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Sarah, that is great! I like them too.

So I love Jen's tips. Now that we have more visitors here, anyone who has lost more than 50 lb, what is your best tip (but you can't say "drink water" ;))?

Hi everyone!
Today was a great first day on program.

I stayed within my points and made healthy choices. I walked for 70 minutes! :goodvibes.

Maybe next year we will have a whol bunch of Diva's doing the Disneyland 1/2! :thumbsup2

Sounds good to me! :thumbsup2

YEAH CRISTABLE!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
Way to go! :thumbsup2

So I went to my fitness evaluation at the Swiss gym today and got weight, fat measured and heart rate checked. Seems my weight is just almost in the normal range (and since I don't have the desire right now to figure out what it is in pounds, I'll stick with that information). It's a little bit high, but nothing in unhealthy zone. However, my body fat is in the unhealthy range. So it seems I need to get that fat converted over to muscle! My cardio check was OK...I'm just above normal creeping into the athetic range.

I got a program to follow for the next three months. 90 to 120 minutes of cardio (heart rate around 130) two days a week. And 45 minutes of cardio at higher heart rate (140 to 150) three days a week. Plus weights and stretching two to three days a week. The strength training program is along the same lines of what I had been doing while training for the 1/2 in the US, but cardio will be a bit different, since I have two long cardio sessions (instead of just the one long run) and more focus on my actual heart rate, which I will be able to do since I'm on machines rather than outside in the beautiful fresh air. Once spring hits, I'm counting on getting back outside, but for now will work in the gym with the machines. I have a follow up meeting with the trainer in April after three months of working the program where I'll get a follow up program. Should be ready for another 1/2 marathon in June.

I feel very glad that I finally did this and that I now have some structure to my exercise so I can turn this weight creep and fitness erosion around!!!

And for the QUOTE OF THE DAY

Great job Cristabel...you are in the Zone! That is where I plan to be this week too! We can do it!

Jen, congrats on the good results from the fitness eval! You are doing a great job and I know this new program will do wonders for how you feel about yourself!

I have to figure out why I keep sabotaging myself. I'll lose 2-3 pounds, then go off track, and gain 5-6. :confused3 My weight keeps going up, up, up right now.

I made cookies last night. Sugar cookies WITH frosting! Why??? I don't know. :confused3 I ate way too many of course. So before bed I told myself the leftover cookies were off limits!!

This morning, first thing I walk into the kitchen and what do I do? Mindlessly grab a cookie!! Just habit. I was so mad at myself. I just did it without even thinking......

After walking the twins to school, I came home, grabbed the plate of cookies, covered it with water and salt and threw them out. Then I hopped on my exercise bike and rode for 35 minutes. Now I've got my water next to me and I'm just hoping I can break this horrible cycle I've been in. I hate how much I've gained back and I don't like the way I look or feel. :(

Just had to vent.........

Hope everyone else is doing well this week!! :cheer2:

Oops, posted on the Community Board and forgot to update myself over here! :)

:woohoo: Had my follow-up appointment with my doctor this morning; what a WONDERFUL appointment it was!! I'm down 28 lbs so far; 34 to go to get within the allowable parameters for donating a lobe of my liver :thumbsup2 My blood pressure and heart rate were both excellent, down from last appointment, and the response from the front desk clerk and my doctor when they saw me was SOOO gratifying, I can't even begin to tell you!!

Hoping I can really ramp things up and wipe out these extra 34 pounds as quick as I safely can, so I can get mom what she needs!! :lovestruc

I've been thinking about it and I'm trying work out how I can stay on plan during our trip or at least close to it. I'm definitely saving my extra 35 points for those days. My WI is on Mondays but since we'll still be on our trip, I won't go in until Tuesday. I always plan out my meals ahead of time so I can budget so I'll just pick the healthy stuff too, which of course is hard at DL but feasible.

Beth, mindless overeating is usually caused by stress or boredom and you lead one stressful life lady! You have to manage a house, four kids, dinner and a husband! That's a LOT!

I know about self-sabotage, that's how I've got to where I am today.

Hopefully you can find an outlet for your stress/energy/boredom etc through some kind of exercise that doesn't feel like routine. I hate going to the gym most of the time because I find it SO boring so walking places, like to stores I like, works for me.

Good luck Beth, you've already come so far you gotta just keep swimming!

Keep up the great work, Sarah!

Hi everyone!
Today was a great first day on program.

I stayed within my points and made healthy choices. I walked for 70 minutes! :goodvibes.

Congratulations on completing your first day. A walk sounds so nice right now, the weather is perfect, too bad I'm stuck at work for now.

Jen, your results sound awesome. I hope I can have results like those one day. :thumbsup2

Beth, what a great start to getting back on the healthy track. Baking is the one thing I miss doing, but I'm surviving without it and you can too. :upsidedow

Darsa, you're results sound great. Kepp up the terrific work! It's so nice when people comment on weight you've lost, isn't it? It sure makes me a happy camper.

Speaking of people noticing weight loss, my boss said she's noticed that I've lost weight. :thumbsup2 It's great to hear that because it keeps me motivated.

Hope everyone is having a healthy and happy day! :goodvibes

Day 2 is going great so far.

Brunch

  • 2 turkey dogs
  • 1 cup fried rice
  • 1 cup soup
  • 1 skinny cow ice cream sandwich
=
11 points

I just ate a piece of whole grain bread so I won't be starving when dinner is ready.

I have to wait until the roomie and her bf are done because our kitchen is muy chico, very very small.

Wow, Jen. That's a lot of cardio! But you're much sportier than I!

I'm having a good day. Keeping to the program. Feeling good!

I too had a good day today...got in a great cardio session, ate within my points, had lots of water...in that zone. Beth, that is what it had to be for me to stick to it. I had to KNOW that I could do it and in my head the most important thing...the only thing...to do was to stay on plan and lose the weight. If my head isn't in the game then it isn't going to happen, weight loss that is. Good luck!

SarahMay

I went over by 0.5 points but it's okay because I exercised for 1 hour today at the gym. :woohoo:

AWESOME!!! :thumbsup2
That is incredible. What an amazing gift you are giving your mother and yourself! Isn't it inspiring what kind of change the body is capable of, when the mind gets focused.

WAY TO GO!!!:woohoo::woohoo:

OK Wendy, I've mentally signed you up for the 2011 1/2 marathon. Are do you want to do one this year? Do I hear 5k for 2010??? :woohoo::woohoo:

And congrats on your noticeable weight loss. :thumbsup2

Great job!

Wow, Jen. That's a lot of cardio! But you're much sportier than I!

I'm having a good day. Keeping to the program. Feeling good!

Dang, it IS a lot of cardio. More than I'm used to and I'm not sure that I'm going to have time for all of it. But I'm pushing forward and we'll see what we can get.

How much cardio are you doing? It's very important to general health!

I too had a good day today...got in a great cardio session, ate within my points, had lots of water...in that zone. Beth, that is what it had to be for me to stick to it. I had to KNOW that I could do it and in my head the most important thing...the only thing...to do was to stay on plan and lose the weight. SarahMay

Yeah SarahMay! Keep your head in the game!

And BETH, my dear, it's time to GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME! Isn't that some high school song? :rolleyes1

I went over by 0.5 points but it's okay because I exercised for 1 hour today at the gym. :woohoo:

That's gonna work for the day! :thumbsup2
GOOD JOB! :woohoo:

So I went to the gym and did 30 minutes of cardio. It was all I had time for as today is laundry day and I've got to be home to squeeze in as many loads as I can. I monitored my heart rate and tried to try to stay between 140 and 150. OK, this is MUCH harder than I have been pushing myself and, to be honest, I'm not sure I could even have kept it up for 45 minutes. I think this keeping track of my HR is going to be very useful for my training, though I'm not always sure those machines are very accurate.

And for the QUOTE OF THE DAY
I wish I was a glow worm,
A glow worm's never glum.
For how can you be grumpy
When the sun shines out your bum!
