Some cruise lines have avoided Puerto Vallarta in the past few days. Adding sea days, or, if possible, going to a different port.

The Captain will make the final call on whether it’s safe to dock in certain Mexican ports. You’ll be duly notified by the cruise staff or through official comm channels.

Most likely a collaboration between the captain and corporate risk management and security will decide whether they go to any port having political or criminal unrest.

When our Israel ports were cancelled it was like the above poster said collaboration between corporate and the captain. In our case it was mostly corporate and corporate was the one that decided to pull out and what the compensation would be. I think captains make more decisions when at sea. They depend on the land team to know whats happening on land at any given port.
