Disneyland Divas: Working out, getting healthy and thin in 2010!!

Just ate a Snickers bar...was trying to go with out candy this week but didn't succeed in that! It is within my points for the week so as far as that is concerned I am ok but still.

Oh well. At least there were some peanuts in there! I have the darndest time giving up sugar. I think after 5 or so days, your body does adjust and you don't crave it as much and ultimately you are better off without it.

Good luck with that! Keep us posted on how it goes. Meanwhile, stay within your points and keep exercising!:goodvibes
 
Wow, that is awesome! And once you get back on track, I'm sure your weight will go down quickly, as it has in the past. What weight do you really want to be at ultimately? How much do you want it? Why do you want it? What work are you willing to put in to get there?



I did the Disneyland 1/2 last year and it was great. If you put in the training, you will have no problem with a 16 minute mile. Are you planning on running? Running/walking? There are some good training programs on the web if you want some pointers. Trick is to stick with the training program day in and day out and you will be amazed at how your body gets stronger and faster. I so wish I could do the race again, but from Switzerland it will be impossible in 2010. I'll be back in 2011!

Congrats!

I wasn't feeling well today and skipped the gym. So I sat on my butt and ate. Oh, and I did make reservations for another DLP vacation for the kids' February break. They get a week off. I was trying to find a sunny, warm place to go in Europe, but was unsuccessful at that (doesn't seem to exist!), so opted for DL. I'll be without DH for half the week since he will be working, so I figured this would be a good kid friendly place. No one knows we're going, but I figure I can tell my Disney enablers on the DIS.

That's funny about the peanuts! I'm having a hard time with sugar, too. But I just discovered the Special K Chocolately Pretzel bars. They're only 90 calories, and help curb my sweet tooth.
 
And I noticed on my drivers license from when we first moved here, it lists my weight as 280!!! :eek: I'd forgotten I'd been up that high after first moving here in '07.

I mean I go in, and I'm pushing the 200 mark and I give them my renewal paperwork and the guy looks over his glasses and says "Any changes?" I say "nope". He looks down again, and says 5'3, and 129? So, I say "oh yeah, probably 132 now:)" I mean seriously, I'm gonna tell them my real weight? Get out of here!

Guess who is down 10 pounds. Me!!!!! I weighed myself this morning, and I am down another pound this week. It seems like a pattern now. One pound per week. I'm hoping to keep it up and be 15 pounds lighter by the time I see you all in 4 weeks!

I just put the recipe for some pulled chicken sandwiches on facebook if anyone is interested...they are about 7 points each and very yummy!

Thought we could use some good new recipes as we go into the second month of this year! Hope you enjoy it!

Lipton Crockpot Chicken
In a crock pot put 1 lb frozen skinless boneless chicken breast, 1 can 98% fF cream of chicken soup, 1 packet lipton onion soup mix, and 6 oz FF sour cream. Cook on low for 5 hours and serve over rice or pasta! 4-6 points per serving plus pasta or rice)

Greek Style Cheeseburgers
In a medium bowl combine 1 lb raw lean ground turkey, 1/2 t dried oregano, 1/4 t table salt, 1/4 t black pepper, 1 small garlic clove (minced), and 1/2 cup onion (minced). Gently form into 4 3/4 inch thick patties. Coat a nonstick redged grill pan with cooking spray. Heat over medium-high heat for 30 seconds. Place burgers in an and grill for 4 minutes. Flip burgers and grill until cooked through to center - about 3-4 more minutes. Place burgers on sandwich thins and top each with 1 1/2 t reduced fat crumbled feta cheese and some baby spinach leaves. Serve immediately. Yields 1 burger per serving (4-6 points per burger depending on actual ingredients used)

Refried Bean Soup
Heat 14 oz reduced sodium chicken broth. Add 30 oz can fat free refried beans, stir and heat thoroughly. Stir in 1 can hominy drained and 1/4 cup salsa. Serve. 4 points for 1/4 of recipe...9-10 points for 1/2.

Eating yesterday and today has been really crappy. I did walk Jingles today and we started clicker training, too.

I believe I'm going to join Weight watchers this week. I really need that extra support and guidance because just starting off, I feel so overwhelmed. Right now joining is free and I got a deal in the mail because I tried weight watchers many years ago and didn't stick to it. It also gives me an accountability partner.
 
I hope it works out for you Cristabel...I really enjoy WW and it does tend to keep me fairly on track. Let us know how your first meeting goes!

I am bored so I am wanting to snack...not good...especially when I am at work and the only food available to me is vending machine food...ie snickers bars. You know, when I was still drinking soda if I was bored I would just have a diet soda...no calories...no problem. Now since I have sworn off soda my choices are limited to high calorie options like candy...not good.

Yes, I meant to say "calorie free." Like rooibos. I think that has a nice sweet flavor to it. I've been drinking some Swiss herbal teas at night, but I'm not actually sure they are completely calorie free.

Gosh, I do miss my sunshiney runs and healthy foods I had in my routine at home. I have yet to get into a good healthy groove here. One step at a time. One good choice at a time.

They aren't tea bags, but granular crystals. My guess is that they have 35 or so calories as they taste like there may some sugar in the mix. I have to take the time to figure out how to convert the nutrition labels here.

I have my fitness test and will get a program at the gym this week. I'm gonna start being accountable!

Get tea bags! No sense getting calories in tea - save them for something more fun I say.

I do pack healthy snacks...but that doesn't stop me from being hungry or being tempted by the unhealthy stuff around...and I am starting to think you are right about the soda...it would be better to drink that then eat the candy. I may go off my no soda pledge....for the sake of my waistline!
