Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Well since I got side tracked with paperwork I forgot to check in over here!

Been working on watching what I eat, dropping as much soda out as I could, drinking lots of water & cutting my smoking almost in half now!! Some days you wake up & just don't really care, but trying to make a consciencous effort to watch what goes in my mouth!!

Since I first started posting in here (3 weeks ago??) I've lost 4 lbs!!!!! So its a move in the right direction...I'm hoping with the weather getting nice, going outside & moving around will kick-start the exercising thing!!

Great job to all you ladies & continued success!!! Thanx for being a great support group.

High point ~ Exercising when I really, really, really, did not want to this morning and not stopping when the running seemed too hard.

Low point ~ Going grocery shopping while I was hungry!! Which resulted in buying a bunch of "stuff" that isn't very healthy and now I am going to have to deal with that being in the house and resisting that temptation.

Night!

Great job on the running!! A little soreness is good. ;) Reminds us that we have muscles. You have a recovery day today, right? Let those muscles heal so you can strengthen up again tomorrow!

And NO, never go to the store hungry. :scared1:
Yesterday, I bought my son some hob nob cookies and gave him one in the car and they were taunting me all the way home. DS and I were having fun pretending to be the cookies while we were driving home. "Jen, eat me! I will make you so happy. I'm SO delicious." For the record, I didn't have one. Had sugar free jello for desert. Not quite the same, but worked.

Some good remedies for soreness - epsom salt baths! And be sure to move tomorrow, (gently at first).

I totally know what you mean by not being the athletic type when young... I never had any brothers... But it is never too late! Don't forget, dancing is exercise too!

I second the epsom salt baths. :thumbsup2 And I don't use any fancy schmancy ones, just the milk carton sized ones that you can get at the grocery or drug store. And I put a little bubble bath with it. I ran out of mine earlier this week. Must get more soon. My knee, upper leg hurts from yesterday's hills.

And I'm going to have to chime in for being another non athletic type when young. I hope PE teachers these days do a little more to encourage young ladies who are not hard core athletes to exercise -- there are so many FUN things to do that we just did NOT do in PE when I was in school.

YEAH!!! Congratulation!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Can I ask how the quitting smoking is going? So important. Needs to stay at very top of priority list. For you and your family both.
EDIT: just reread your post. Congrats on getting your smoking down to half!!! And good luck getting that to ZERO asap!!!

Can I weigh in today? :confused3 This morning those daily weight fluctuations seemed to work in my favor. (or my scale is broken). I'm down 2 lbs. I want to lock it in now in case I go up tomorrow.

And for a running QUOTE OF THE DAY
Running should be a lifelong activity. Approach it patiently and intelligently, and it will reward you for a long, long time.

Don't forget, dancing is exercise too!

Yes it is! And I like doing that. Not with anyone watching of course, but I do enjoy cranking up the music and getting my groove on.

Thanks for the Epsom salt idea. I'm ok this morning. It was worse last night for some reason.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: You are doing so good!! Keep it up Laurie!! You should be so proud of what you've accomplished this far. :goodvibes

I say lock it in baby! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the encouragement on the running. I am only walking today.

Good job on resisting those cookies! I had some ice cream last night that I'd bought, BUT I worked it into my calories so it didn't do too much damage calorie-wise, just not the best choice health wise. Oh well.

Hi everyone,

So I did go to the gym last night even though I wasn't feeling well. I did 30 minutes on the precor at a medium to high exursion level. I feel very proud of myself for going even when I didn't want to! Have a great day!

Sarah

Hi everyone...just wanted to stop by and say hello. I am in a BL challenge on another thread and I was biggest loser of the week for this past week! I am really happy about that! I hope I can continue to place in the top 10.

Sarah

Congrats on being the BL! You have a great goal to be in the top 10!

I've decided when I can, meaning when I remember, I'd like to come here at the end of the day and post my highs and lows. No one has to read it or comment unless you want to. It's just something I think will be helpful for me. :)

So for today:

Wow that is terrific! 4 lbs. is great! Slow and steady is what they say! And cutting the smoking in half is a huge accomplishment! Keep up the great work and enjoy the summer weather.

Sarah

That is dedication and you should feel proud. Exercising even when you really don't want to is the biggest challenge. There are days that I can't wait to go running but lately I have had to push myself out the door or get extra encouragment from Bob and I am one grumpy runner until I get past about the first mile and then I get in the rhythem and am a semi-happy runner!

Today is my running day and I used to run in the morning or at lunch but it is getting warmer and I hate to run in any kind of heat so I've been running at night when it cools down. I've found that I really like running at night...it's very peaceful not a lot of traffice or others out - for now running at night is working for me.

I really need to get into doing something on my off days but I just haven't done it yet. We did ride bikes to breakfast on Sunday which was my off day so at least I got some exercise in on that day.

Have a good one everyone!

Tomorrow is weigh in day!! I hope the scale brings pretty numbers to all those weighing in. :wizard:

So for today:

High point ~ I'm not sure there was one. It was a bad day. I guess it would have to be that I started a new food journal after misplacing my old one. Got to write it all down!

Low point ~ The huge binge I went on from approx. 1 in the afternoon until well, just a few minutes ago. Just eating non stop. WTH? Why must I sabotage myself like that the day before weigh in???? :(

:yay::yay: that is wonderful!!!! Keep going.

Sooo true.
Love the story about you and your son.

:(

That is great.
Definitely a high point!
I did that too, lost food journals. Just started new ones, like you.

I had no time to exercise yesterday and today I was at DL at day. So lots of steps but no cardio. Ate pretty well at DL, too.

Gym tomorrow!

Hang in there, everyone. :dance3:

It's Friday.

Good news: I'm down 2 pounds. Also down 1 inch on the waist, which now puts me in the healthy range, so I'm very happy. :)

Bad news: Exercise did not go well. Tried to get my workouts in, but felt very weak with this flu. Was up all night last night coughing. SO ready to be well. My race is next week. Send pixie dust. :wizard:

Guess what? We bought Disney Dance, Dance, Revolution last night! I love it already and know it will be another tool in my weight loss arsenal. Especially for rainy, dreary days like today. Yippee!

Anyone else have it?

I had a loss this week! :thumbsup2 I am also going to the gym tonight. My mom said she didn't mind staying with the kids a little longer so I am going in right after work.

Hope everyone has a great weigh in and don't forget to drink that water!

Sarah

This week is kicking my butt. I've been stress-eating due to final projects and exams and have only exercised one day this week! I'm going to the gym today, hiking tomorrow and gym again (or hiking) on Sunday. I don't want to gain back the 1.5lbs I lost past week!!!! :(

Friday check in!
On Monday, when I got back on track again for the hundredth time, I weighed at 224. Today I am at 218 for a loss of 6 pounds. YAY! Back in the teens again. lol

Congrats to those who lost or maintained. Everyone else hang in there!! I hope you all have a good Friday. :goodvibes

Good luck keeping up the good habits with projects and exams! Good skills to have, as you will be having those pretty much regularly until you finish college. You can do it! :cheer2: And good job getting to the gym at least one day this week. :thumbsup2

What? 6 pounds in 4 days? Be honest...did you sever a limb?

Congratulations!! :cheer2::cheer2:

No. lol
I just stopped consuming like 4,000 calories a day which I'd been doing the two weeks prior, hence the 14 pound gain. :headache:

I am just struggling to get back to where I was. So silly of me to go off track for two weeks, gain a bunch of weight back, and now be going through this all again. Geez, you'd think I'd learn.

But I'm keeping the severed limb idea in mind for future use..... :rolleyes1

Beth, you have been working at losing this weight for a long time. Slip ups are bound to happen. Good for you for getting back on the wagon so quickly. Hopefully each time it will be shorter and shorter that you are off the wagon and any slip up you will get right back on! Good job coming back...I know how hard that can be. Be proud of yourself for not letting it take longer than 2 weeks!

Thanks Sarah. I am proud. I have been at it awhile now. A year and 3 weeks in fact. But who's counting! :rotfl2:

I've managed to lose half of what my final goal is, and while I've had slip ups and put some weight back on, I always get back on track and that is the main difference I've noticed.
In the past, I'd lose 20 pounds and then get lazy and end up right back where I was or even higher. This time I was able to lose 50, and for the most part, I've kept it off over the past 7 months! So that part of it, I am happy about.

Now, I just need to get my butt in gear and get busy losing the other 50 pounds. :thumbsup2

WOW! It sounds like everyone is having an AWESOME week weight wise! So proud of all of you!!
And Beth...you are my hero! Man I wish I could drop like that!!!

I weighed in at 185.5, so only one pound less than last week but I will take it!! That makes 58 total lost since I started in January. Can't wait to drop 2 more and hit 60!! Maybe next week...but it might take me two since I am taking a quick 3-day trip to DL Sunday. And TOM hit me yesterday...I swear I have had cravings so bad!! I have wanted to eat everything in sight.

Times like this make me realize how important it is (at least for me..) to weight every morning. Keeps me from slipping too far. Yesterday I weighed in at 185...and I has hoping for a lower number this morning...but then good old Flo came and I started grazing....so I was not suprised to see I was up 1/2 lb today. But that's ok. It reminds me how easy it is for me to gain. And how important it is to stay on track. I am feeling lots better but stil coughing and having some trouble breathing with activity..so I haven't tried the treadmill yet, so I'm sure the almost 2 weeks with no exercise isn't helping. Darn pneumonia!! Hoping I can try tomorrow.

Have a great weekend! Stay on track everyone!

Hey Amy! Glad to hear you are slowly but surely on the mend.

And you are right about it being so easy to gain!! I hate that. I gained 14 pounds in two weeks, but do you think I'll lose it in two weeks? Heck no.

Anyway, have fun at DL!! I refuse to diet when I'm on vacation, but that's just me. ;)

Beth, that is fabulous! You know what to do, gf! You are on track, you are going all the way. You need to give us more tips! :yay::lmao:

Take it easy on yourself. Great on the pound!

:wizard:

:wizard: Oh, that cough. I hate that cough (mine earlier this year was the worst I'd ever had). Take it easy on yourself too.

Sarah, Cristabel, good work, keep on going!

I am very down because I threw my back out yesterday. It was just a movement but I know it was from cleaning out the garage. My husband's went as well, but his happened while we were working. Mine happened several days later.

I saw the doctor today and he said no exercise for at least two days. I'm wearing a brace (that's what got me through DL yesterday), icing, and taking an anti-inflammatory. I have gotten to the point where when I don't exercise, my mood reflects that. And of course I'm eating just as much as when I do.

So hopefully I will not gain too much during this time period.

Everyone else, who is healthy, enjoy your exercise!
