Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Just checking in. I went and did 30 minutes on the precor machine and 10 minutes on the treadmill. The treadmill I did really slowly just as a way to cool down from the precor. I feel proud that I went to the gym on a friday, especially a beautiful friday....It was 81 degrees out which we barely ever see in May! Hope everyone has a great day!

Sarah

Donna, I'm sorry about your back. I hope it feels better soon. Back pain is nothing to mess around with. Been there, done that.

Sarah, good for you!! Pat yourself on the back for that one. Keep up the great work and awesome dedication. :cheer2:

Jen, I hope you start to feel better soon. :wizard:

Everyone else have a great and healthy weekend!! They are always so hard for me. Everyone is home and eating! lol But school's almost out so I just need to suck it up and get used to it.

I forgot to put my highs and lows for yesterday.

High ~ Doing day two of the C25k and taking one bite of the most yummy BBQ chicken quesadilla while I was starving and then stopping, giving it to the kids, and instead making a Lean Cuisine. :goodvibes

Low ~ I did pretty good today, but I could have had more water.

That is awesome Beth!! I didn't know you started the c25k!! Wooohooo! We are going to be rocking in on Labor Day weekend!!

Isn't it fun once you start? I have had to push myself but at the same time it feels GREAT! I honestly really really miss it since I've been sick. Do you have an Ipod? I think music makes all the difference. It just flies by.

You just might catch up with me..lol. I need to finish week 3. I'm worried this almost 2 week absence might be a set back and I might need to repeat some of what I've done.

No. lol
I just stopped consuming like 4,000 calories a day which I'd been doing the two weeks prior, hence the 14 pound gain. :headache:

I am just struggling to get back to where I was. So silly of me to go off track for two weeks, gain a bunch of weight back, and now be going through this all again. Geez, you'd think I'd learn.

But I'm keeping the severed limb idea in mind for future use..... :rolleyes1

WOW! What a great loss!
Beth, stick to it! You are almost in one-derland!:hippie:

I literally just started. I've only done two days of it, and I run really slow. lol But I figured it can't hurt to give it a try.

No, I don't have an Ipod, but I have an MP3 player so I just use that. Music is music and yes, it helps a ton!

I doubt I'll catch up to you. I am really out of shape. When I had lunch with Donna and Jane, I was dying trying to keep up with them in the casino and they were only walking for pete's sake!!! :rotfl2:

Speaking of repeats, do you or anyone know if you aren't comfortable moving on to the next week, can you repeat a week? :confused3

WOW! What a great loss!
Beth, stick to it! You are almost in one-derland!:hippie:
Thanks!!
I LOVE how you called it one-derland. I want to be in one-derland really, really badly. :yay:

The sick one is checking in anyway. I am seeing the doctor again today - he has this wonderful machine called an accuscope that helps heal the tissue. I have not exercised yet and we'll see what he says.

I was shocked to find out that I am pretty much at the new low weight I was last week. But I feel terrible not exercising and can't wait to get back to it.

Great victory! I see how this is harder with kids at home, but you can do it.

You've been there with the back thing, huh? Doncha love how it travels up your body as the days go on?

Oh, I'm so sorry! I was totally unaware. We were worried about not being there on time so we were walking fast.

The great thing, Beth, is that your strength will get better and better. Except for this little setback, I know it because it happened to me. It takes time but it does respond.:yay: (<---oops, no jumping allowed yet...)

Had a funny dream - In it, I realized I could wear a sleeveless dress. :dance3:

Everyone have a great moving day! Amy Sue, how's the swimming going?

Another sick one checking in. I'm going to go to the doctor today to see what's up. It's been two weeks and I have no more tolerance for not feeling well. I'm extremely disappointed with how workouts have gone and am not sure if the 1/2 marathon this weekend is even a possibility. I will talk to the doctor about it today. I couldn't even run 25 minutes yesterday.

Hope everyone else is feeling better!
Sending an abundance of WELLNESS wishes to all!! :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

That's ok. I knew we were on a time crunch so I didn't say anything, but that just goes to show you how all my life I've been out of shape. Skinny or heavy, it didn't matter, I've never had strength.

I hope the doc is able to help you out with your back.

I'm sorry Jen. I'm glad you're going to the doc though. I hope they will be able to tell you what's going on and maybe give you some meds to get you feeling good again.

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope everyone else is doing well.

I did day 3 of the C25K and then had some problems afterward. Not sure if it's related to the running or not, but it freaked me out and I'm stopping all exercise for now.
I don't want to go into too much detail. Suffice to say it's related to Aunt Flo. I've got a doc appt June 12. That was the earliest they could see me. I hate going to the Gyno, but I haven't been in probably 5 years, so it's beyond overdue. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous that something is wrong.

Anyway, enough of that. Have a great week ladies!!!!! Keep on keeping on. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Jen, I'm so sorry to hear this. You know there will be plenty more 1/2 marathons, so if he thinks you are better off not pushing it, listen to him. Your body is telling you something.

Oh Beth, I am so glad to hear you're going to the gyno. You need to keep up on the pap smears, so if they can't do one then, book a time to return.

I am concerned about you diving into running when your walking isn't even up a brisk pace level yet. You have to ease into exercise if you've not been doing it like, all your life! ;) Seriously, the worst thing is to injure yourself and then there's a long setback. So let's see what the doctor says and then start back slowly, walking first before you get to running (jen, you are my expert runner, doesn't this make sense or am I out to lunch?).

:rose::daisy::flower1: for Jen and Beth (and anyone else who is not feeling well)

I'm pretty sure it would be best to repeat a week until you feel comfortable enough to proceed.

I hope it's nothing serious but I'm glad you are getting it checked out. My sister and I REALLY don't want to go to a gyno. My mom didn't go until she was pregnant. Just the thought of it gives me major anxiety! I do have to go for a full physical with my mom's doctor at the end of this month. My mom wants to make sure I'm healthy before I leave home. I also have to get a vaccine to help prevent 4 out of the 5 meningitis diseases; it's required by my school since I'm living in the dorms.

I'm not dead :thumbsup2

So this past week was REALLY bad. I ate so much due to stress! Surprisingly I only gained 0.5lbs. So I'm at 256 and need to get serious!
I want to be 200lbs by my 21st birthday (November 2nd) so I have to lose 56lbs in 23 weeks. That means I have to lose about 2.5lbs per week from now until November  It's not impossible but I will have to seriously stick to it! The exercise part is not the hard part for me. I can make myself get up off my butt and head to the gym or go hiking but eating...well that's a different story.

It really does help having low calorie foods in the house though. It makes it so much easier to count and stay within my calorie "budget". We have "no sugar added" fudgecicles that are 40 calories each, Light Laughing Cow cheese spreads at 35 calories each, Turkey at 50 calories a slice, Lean Cuisines in the 300 - 400 calorie range and tons of fruit. It really is easier to eat healthy at home!

My mom keeps telling me that I'm taking three steps and then I eat incorrectly and fall back two steps. So my love of food is pretty dangerous.

I'm determined! After I'm out of school this semester I'm going to try something I haven't done in YEARS... two-a-day workouts. When I was younger I would do the Step in the morning and go walking in the evening. As you can tell, I didn't stick with that. This summer will be the perfect time to get rid of bad habits and form good ones in their place. The morning exercise will be for me (I will push myself hard) and the evening one will be for the dog.

Woah, I didn't mean to write a novel. It's late, I better hit the hay!

Hi everyone, just checking in. I did ok with everything this weekend. I walked a lot on Sunday when my fam went to Vancouver and did the aquarium and stanley park and I went to the gym last night even though it was in the 80's again and did 30 minutes precor and 10 minutes treadmill. My back spasmed on the treadmill even though I was only walking at a 2.5 mph pace. It feels better today.

Beth! :scared1: I am thinking of you, you are in my prayers and I hope everything turns out ok.

As for going to the gyno, I remember my first time...it was over with so quickly I couldn't belive I was so freaked out about it. And after having 2 kids it is soooo not a big deal to get a pap!

Talk to you all soon! Drink your water! Especially with all this heat!

Sarah

So I just had lunch which was soooo yummy. However, I had to guess at the points for part of it and if I am right, I have 10 points left for the day! That is way less than I normally have at this time. I have some extra points I can use, but my WW weigh in is tomorrow, so I hesitate to do that. Maybe I should stop at the farmers market and pick up some fruit on my way home. We ran out at home and that is usally a good, low point option. I also have some spinach leaves at home that I could turn into a salad. This is why I usually have a low point lunch...I hate the idea of having so few choices for dinner.

Sarah

My sister and I REALLY don't want to go to a gyno.
It's really not that bad. I mean, it's not fun, but it's not that bad. I don't know why I went so many years without going. Just plain forgot.

My mom keeps telling me that I'm taking three steps and then I eat incorrectly and fall back two steps. So my love of food is pretty dangerous.
I do the same thing! But keep at it, I know you can meet the goal you've set for yourself.

I am concerned about you diving into running when your walking isn't even up a brisk pace level yet.
You're probably right. I always try to do too much, too soon.

Beth! :scared1: I am thinking of you, you are in my prayers and I hope everything turns out ok.
Thanks. I called around and found a different doc who could see me sooner, this Thursday in fact. That's how worried I was/am. I waited so long to go, and now I fear I will pay for it.
Oh well. Thanks for your concern.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying on track!!!

Jen, how did your doctor appt go?

Beth, you are not alone - most of us overdo when we first start exercising again. It's far better to start an easy program of exercise that you can maintain than to go hog wild and get injured.

I'm so happy you got an earlier doc appt. When I'm in that situation, I make sure the nurse knows and puts it in my chart that I'm anxious about this appt so would the doctor please bear that in mind. This can be done ahead but I'd repeat it when I got there.

My back spasmed on the treadmill even though I was only walking at a 2.5 mph pace. It feels better today.

Sarah

Oh no! Not another one... It sounds like you recovered well. I saw the doctor again and he said that I've sprained the ligaments (for anyone who doesn't know, I did this cleaning out my garage). He dx'd this because of the prolonged pain. He said it's not unlike a sprained ankle and the healing process will take longer. No exercise for at least another week. :scared1: I am scheduled to do a trainer workout on thurs though and I am hoping he can work around the back issue.

Hi. I wanted to say that I've done the twice a day thing and it's great. Good for you, for incorporating so much exercise into your schedule.

The eating thing - if you only exercise and don't seriously change the eating you won't lose anything close to the 2.5 lb a week you're shooting for. You're doing great things, I love the low calorie treats you've mentioned above. Also eat more lettuce, cucumbers, celery, green onions. Find a low cal dressing you like. And keep a food journal so you really know how much you're eating per day.

You're making great changes -keep going!

Everyone who is healthy and can exercise, I envy you! Keep it up.:yay:

It doesn't seem the starts are aligned for exercising this week, are they?

My doctor appointment yesterday went fine. I have influenza and was prescribed Robitossun (sp?) with codeine to help me sleep at night. My lungs are fine. My oxygen level is fine. I just have a bad cough and don't have energy. The doctor said it's up to me whether or not I run.

I pretty much have decided not to do the 1/2 marathon. I'm very disappointed, but don't feel like I'm ready - since I haven't done my runs for over a week and since I just don't have any strength or energy.

I feel like I let myself down here. How did I go from feeling to strong to so week in 10 short days. :sad2:

Jen  I could have written your last sentence.
You've made a wise choice. There will be more 1/2 marathons, but I am sorry about the disappointment.

It is puzzling how quickly we can go from being strong to being sick. But the plus side is we should recover more quickly than someone who wasn't exercising before.

Did they test for swine flu, just curious? I'm sure the odds are so small. Did you have the flu vaccine before? And was it too late for the flu medication they give when the flu first starts (forget what it's called)?

:rose:

So I didn't make the top 10 list on the BL challenge this past week. She accidently put me on it as having a 2.2% WL when really I lost 2.2 lbs for a 0.79% loss. The last person on the top 10 had a 0.80% loss so I was soooooo close! Hopefully back on the top 10 this next week.

Beth, glad you are going in earlier to the doc! Everyone else, I hope you all heal up soon! I am still congested but not bad and the back feels way better today.

Take care,
Sarah

Ok I'm making a vow that I'm going to work out tomorrow. I know I'm getting over a terrible upper respiratory infection and pleurisy but I breathe so much better when I'm carrying less weight around. I have a small body frame and I'm just too hefty right now. I don't care about weight or inches I just want energy and health. If I'm moving in three weeks I need to be in shape! Once I start and stick with it I will literally drop all of the weight that I've gained over the past 3 years in month. It's crazy how fast I can lose weight I just don't know what I've been afraid of or waiting for. I'd go work out now but it's almost 9 and I'll never go to bed if I do.... well I might, we'll see. I'll keep you all posted!

Sorry to hear that Jen! I did mention to Bob last night that you had been sick and that you were thinking about not running your 1/2 marathon this weekend and he told me his first marathon he was sick with a cold and took Robitossun and it was his best time of any of his marathons.

 Glad you are going to get everything checked out. I've been having issues with Aunt Floe since Nov. but I think I am finally getting it figured out. It sucks getting old!!

I am having a hard time getting back into counting points and being motivated to run! :scared1: I told Donna earlier that I feel guilty for not going out running since so many of us are unable to and I am able just being really lazy!
