QUOTE OF THE DAY

Way too much emotional energy and thinking is wasted because we keep reviewing past behaviors. The past is gone. Today is all we have. Don't squander time and energy thinking about what you should have done, could have done, what you did or might have done.

Today is a new day. Move on. The point of power is in the present.

By Michael Angier
I LOVE that quote!!!! So true and I needed it today. Lots of cheating going on this past week for me and I've been beating myself up for it. I need to just learn to let things go and keep looking forward. Thanks.

I'm glad you are feeling better and I'd say congrats on the 2 lbs but I hope it's not because of things being "off" like you said. :confused3 (I still say congrats because 2 lbs is 2 lbs. LOL)

Cristabel, be careful, don't do too much. Like Jen said , you don't want to hurt yourself.

Sarah, way to go!!!!! Keep it up girl!

Okay, now for me. I was at 232.8 last Friday and today I am at 230.2 for a loss of 2.6 lbs. :yay: I was hoping to break into the 220's but that will just be my goal for next week. :thumbsup2

UGH! I'm up 1 pound this week. I knew it was going to happen. I was just too busy all day and then overheated at night to get much exercise in. It's been near 100 all week. Excuses, excuses.
Well, at least another week begins today......................
I'm sorry you're up, but you've got the right attitude. It's a new week with a new goal and you can do it!! Just keep moving forward and keep at it. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Why do you need to complete two weeks of mileage in 3 days? :confused3 I'm afraid you might get injured if you do that, especially if you haven't been exercising in 2 weeks.

I missed exercising all this week, as I picked up some kind of bug during my quick DL trip. I'm just trying to get back to my daily schedule and actually did LESS than I usually do for my first run yesterday, as I need to get back into things. I don't want to hurt myself. I was just happy to be exercising again.

Watch out overdoing it or you might end up overwhelmed - physically and emotionally.

Glad your back! :thumbsup2

I need to stay on track with my mileage or in the end, there will be consequences from my dad. I doubt I will hurt myself, especially doing the elliptical and the bike. I like it actually, it's a nice boost. I didn't exercise for only one week, which was last week. I'm doing this week's miles as well as last weeks. I just slacked off and didn't start on Tuesday like I should have.

I should be okay, I'll have Sunday and Monday to recooperate and start again on Tuesday.

Beth - congrats on the great loss! You are so close to 220's! I broke into the 250's today so I am looking at your numbers with envy! And I know the last couple of weeks have been difficult for you yet you keep posting some great numbers! Maybe what you are doing is what is right for your body right now. :confused3 Who knows...bodies are weird!

Anyway, I skipped my work out today. I read something on the news that really upset me and I just felt I had to get home and spend some time with my children so that is what I did and it was fantastic! I am getting out my old workout videos and will do one tomorrow morning. Anyway, I hear it is good for your kids to see you excersize because then they see that it is an important part of daily life.

Congrats to all who lost weight, bummer to all who didn't, but for all of us this is a new week. It will have highs and lows...it will have challenges to be faced and conquered...and we can do it!

Don't forget to drink that water!

Thanks. I'm glad I'm still losing even with as much as I've been cheating. BUT I can't help but wonder how much more I would have lost IF I'd been "good" the whole time. kwim?
I think it's because I have so much to lose, that's it's still coming off and then once I get closer to my goal, it will be much harder. That's when the exercise will probably have to really kick in. :confused3

I'm glad you went and spent some time with your kids. That's always nice. :goodvibes

I was only able to complete 6.5 miles today because, unbeknown to me, my gym closes at 10pm on Fridays! What a jip! They're open until midnight M-TH, why not Friday?!

My sciatic nerve is acting up so I'm going to bed soon. But I love the soreness!:woohoo:

Tomorrow I'm going to a place called roadrunners. It's a runners & walkers store. They have these certain tests to calculate what shoe is most right for you. I'm so excited because I have these Saucony shoes which are definitely not adequate but do, and now I'll be able to get the right shoes for me. Which means less injury!

They have locations all over, just click the name and it'll take you to the website. I think it's totally worth it!:goodvibes

So last night I was over at my mom's house and she told me that when I walked through the door she could tell I had lost weight! This is the first time someone has said that to me this time around. Even though I have only lost 7 lbs since joining this thread, I have lost 14 lbs since starting to lose weight 5 weeks ago. I can't really tell yet, but it was nice to hear it was starting to show to those who know me. Just more incentive to keep going. I also ordered the next size down of work pants. I really don't know how they are sized, you know, if there is a big or little difference in the sizes, so I just ordered one pair to try it out.

Hope all of you are having an energetic, active, healthy day! Drink that water, it helps fill you up so you are less likely to grab an unhealthy snack like this! popcorn::

mommaU4 and sabushka: CONGRATS on the weight loss!! You're doing great :thumbsup2

Have fun getting those shoes Cristabel. Soon you'll be ready to hit the road with Osita for some running!

BillyFan: Stick with exercise and healthy eating and the lbs. will come off!

So I did my long run today, though it wasn't very long. I'm just not 100% yet, but I made it about 4 miles with a little walking in the middle. Wish me health to get to my 10k run next weekend!

So I weighed in this morning expecting the worse.

+0.5
Phew.

Now back on track.

Cristabel--Congrats on getting on the scale. It's so tempting to just not face the numbers, but I think it's important to be honest with ourselves and sometimes we will find that things are not as bad as we feared!

And congrats for getting back to the program!

Hi girls--sorry I've been absent.

I had my colonoscopy yesterday (along with an endoscopy == i.e., down the throat!) That meant the day before I was doing a liquid fast of clear liquids only. Everything turned out great and I am SO relieved it is over.
The worst part was getting the i.v. going--I am not an easy "stick"--have really deep veins.

Now to get back on track . . . .

But I love the soreness!:woohoo:
You're weird. :rolleyes1

Just kidding!! Good for you and that's cool about the shoes!

I'm glad it went ok.

Went to a wedding today. I made sure I worked out before hand and then during the reception I tried to make good choices on the food and I only had a small piece of cake, though it had a lot of frosting. Felt I did well overall. Hope you all had a good day too.

Sounds like you did a good job! Weddings, vacations, parties, etc will always be there. All we can do is try our best to make healthy choices and if we have some treats, not beat ourselves up and move on.

I did ok today. Going out tomorrow night with DH so I won't be eating much during the day because I know I'm going to eat out.

So after a successful visit to roadrunners, I have myself a pair of brand-new, just-for-me shoes!

I think anyone who does walking or running, at the gym or outside, should go in and get tested, it's free!

First they have you walk and step directly on a mat, one foot at a time (opposite directions) and this shows your gait, where you place the most pressure, and your arch level. Then they have you walk on a treadmill and record how you walk. They pull you aside and show you what things could potentially cause problems for you. (i.e. when you take a step your foot goes either left or right)

For myself, I have nearly no arches so that pulls my ankle inward which can cause injury. I needed "motion control" shoes.

There are three different groups you can fit into: stability, neutral, or motion control.

Of course the shoes are extremely pricey but they are guaranteed to last 500 miles for workouts, less if you wear them every day.
As a price range, my shoes (Brooks) cost me $92, but I absolutely LOVE them. I'm excited to wear them for my workout on Monday!:woohoo:

Hi Girls.
I had the yummiest salad for dinner tonight. Mixed greens with granny smith apple slices, dried cranberries, fresh strawberries, slivered almonds and roasted chicken breast. Drizzled a bit of vinagrette, and it was delish!

Sounds yummy! Especially on these hot summer days!

I get to go to work today. Another overtime shift but I like this one best because it is not a double...it is on my usual day off is all. At least I am home just after 4pm, so it is not so bad. I have a double tomorrow. I may try to go to the gym at work tonight since I won't get to go tomorrow as I usually would.

Hope everyone is doing well this morning!

Sarah

Just did another run this morning. They are shorter as I rebuild my strength -- not even three miles and I was pretty much coughing by the end. I guess I'm still getting rid of all that cold gunk (too much information, sorry) But I will get through this and do my 10k next week, even if I have to walk some of it.

Have a great Sunday everyone!
-Jen

It's late and I am finishing up a bag of Fritos.:sad2: Sooo....I should probably sign my boo-tay up! If that's ok...:flower3:

I was always on the petite side. Never skinny, but small. I am 5'1" and the most I weighed in high school was 115. When I turned 25, I had a long term relationship end and that is when I started gaining weight. I also had a job sitting at a desk ALL day. I don't think that helped. A year later, I met my husband. Before I got pregnant with Maddie, I weighed about 140-ish. I was overweight. Then after I had her, I weighed 214. That is the highest I have ever weighed in my life. I was pretty sick with preeclampsia and I know that is where a lot of the weight came from. I lost a lot of it with WW. I quit WW after losing about 57 lbs. I have since gained almost all of that back. I am almost at my heaviest. I weigh 200 lbs and boy does that hurt to admit. I have been off and on with WW. It works, but just like most programs, it takes effort to work. So, I am back on! Woohoo!:yay:

I go back to work on the 21st and I am sooo bummed that I didn't work out at all this summer, just some running here and there. I am not an emotional eater, or even an overeater. I am just lazy.

My WW goal is to lose about 70 lbs so I am at a healthy weight. But I would like to get down to 120 (personal goal). I will focus on 5 lbs at a time and go from there.

You all are doing awesome! I am really looking forward to this.:dance3:

edited to add...
here are some things I challenge myself to do this week:

Drink at least 4 bottles of water a day
Exercise (running or elliptical) 3x this week for 30 minutes
Stay within my daily WW point target
