So I'm at Disneyland right now with my parents and my girlfriend at the resort. We've had a great time the 2 1/2 days we've been here (one night and a day at DL and a day at Knott's). We've been doing everything together recently, but we're changing it up tomorrow.

We plan on all going to the park tomorrow Wednesday morning, and then having a big lunch at Rainforest Cafe. Then we'll be on our own in the afternoon/evening.

I would really like to do something special with my gf  . We're planning on doing some rides, catching a bite to eat and watching the fireworks. I would like to do something special though. This is my fifth time to the park, but she has never been so I want to do something unique but I'm coming up with blanks. Any recommendations? or even on food for that matter? We want to do something light since we'll have such a big lunch.....and yes, Blue Beyou is out of the question (sorry) :guilty:

Thanks!

Maybe stop by cafe orleans for some mickey beignets? It is so romantic in NOS in the evening when it's all lit up :) Or you could snuggle on storybook land canal boats? I am not sure what to do as DH and I always have two little ones with us so I am out of date lol But Disneyland is just magical and romantic...first time or first hundred times. I am sure that she will enjoy just being there with you. Stroll around the park hand in hand and just enjoy the moments. :)

I would suggest the Aladdin show in California adventure if you have not already seen it. as well as tower of terror right there. Since you didn't say if you were legal drinking age... If you are I would suggest the Cove bar, located in the back of the Ariels grotto. You do not need reservations and they offer a full bar and nice sized appetizers. Even if you are not drinking age you can sit at the tables and order the apps. it has a great view of the boardwalk.

Agreed. The production is of a Broadway caliber and (especially in this economy) many people can't shell out the money to see a Broadway show on a regular basis. Other unique things to check into are riding in the Lilly Belle (which is dependent on which trains are running that day, ask at City Hall or at the Main Street Train Station), riding in the pilot's cabin on the Mark Twain (ask the CM at the dock, who will ask the pilot for you, great aerial view), and picnicking on the checkers table on TSI (great for people watching and significantly less crowded now that there's no pirate band). The French Market in NOS is CS and sort-of the budget version of Cafe Orleans and Blue Bayou with a dining area that rivals Cafe Orleans imo. You also might want to check out the live performances schedule and go listen to the jazz or marching band.

How about getting some yummy snacks in the evening (maybe when the fireworks are getting ready to go off, and hop on the train, and take a nice ride or two around the park in the train, snuggling, nibbling on the yummy treats, and maybe stealing a kiss or two  while planning what rides you two will hit next?
How about making a pressed penny of her favorite character or characters?
Have a great time!:goodvibes

Sharing a cotton candy (or some other park treat) at the wishing well after dark. :) (Of course with a few pennies for wishes!)

Maybe you could pick out a special pin to commemorate the trip and her first time to Disneyland and you could give it to her as a surprise during the fireworks. There are plenty of cute ones of Mickey and Minnie together! I don't know how old you guys are and if you are allowed to leave the park area, but you could get a dessert to split in Downtown Disney and you can enjoy it while watching some of the street musicians. I am sure just being there with you and having a good time together will be romantic enough

Get a few glasses of wine at DCA and take it from there.
I'm not so sure suggesting alcohol is appropriate when the OP stated he was there with his parents and we have no idea if he is over 21.

However, since he posted that they were at the resort 10 days ago, it's probably irrelevant now.

True that. Figured if he was on a family vacation with his gf and parents he was of a older age...

I have a couple of ideas, though I like everyone else's ideas better.

One unique thing is you could go to New Orleans Square (or wherever you can find an artist; they are in a few different locations) and have a caricature done of you and your girlfriend to remember the occasion. I have seen several couples having that done when I was there and it looks like a really sweet thing to do - and I bet your girlfriend would think it was special, too (girls like that kind of thing, especially if the guy initiates it). It costs somewhere in the $20-$30 range, from what I heard. Not too costly. You can have the artist put whatever message on there that you like and the date, etc.

Another food-related idea is to maybe do a coffee/dessert-only meal (I hope you guys like dessert). If you want sort of calm, cozy atmosphere, you could try Storytellers Cafe in the GCH (the also serve liquor there too - IF you are an of age drinker!). GCH has a lounge off of the huge main lobby area which is very cozy. You can share a beverage near the fireplace, listen to the piano player, soak up the ambience. If you want to soak up the ambience of Disneyland, you could do a dessert-only meal at Carnation Cafe on Main Street. Get one of their yummy servings of apple pie a la mode and also order a Matterhorn sundae or banana split and some coffee drinks, and share them with each other while enjoying the sights and sounds of Main Street. It is a charming little restaurant with good desserts and a prime location.

Or just get a few cups of coffee and check out the waterfalls at the D Land hotel...

That's better for daytime though, because they close the gates to the falls around dusk.
