Disneyland ½ Marathon Weekend~2012 Check-in!

We'll be there that weekend, but we're not running. We are commin down for a wedding and the bride's family is organizing a group of people wanting to go to Disneyland after the wedding. It will be a great introduction to Disneyland for my DD princess:who will be 3.5 at the time. She is really wanting to meet Snow White her favourite Princess.

We'll be staying in Diamond Bar where the wedding is, and the bride is having a block of rooms put aside for out of town guests to reserve. Now all I need are flights.

Getting so Excited!!!:cool1::yay:

Don't miss out on the most magical miles you'll ever run! :wizard:

Just posted this on the other board, but did anyone who's signed up for the 5k notice they are offering pins for the 5k this year? Ordered one out of curiousity for the medal lanyard, it'll be interested to see what the theme and the pin/medal look like. I'm thinking the 5k will be Cars w/ the opening. I'm really hoping for a retro-type DCA logo to go w/ the new park theme, or entrance area at least, but I don't thing they'll just limit the logo to DCA b/c we go through DL too.

How did they word the pin you could purchase with the 5K registration last year? I thought last year when I purchased a pin it would be specific for the 5K but it was the same one for the 1/2. It would be awesome if it was a 5K specific one.

When I was registering and on the receipt email, it asked if I wanted to purchase the 2012 Disneyland Family Fun Run 5k Commemorative Pin. I was thinking it was going to be similar to the medals like they do w/ our 1/2 pins. It's the 1st time I've noticed it for the 5k, but someone on the other thread said they got one for the Halloween 5k in WDW, so I'm hoping it's just something new to the DL races.

I hope it's not the same. I'll have to email run disney. When I get an answer, I'll let you know.

If anybody is on the fence about the race, you better decide now ~ registration jumped again today to 93%. The race will sell out this weekend and probably more tomorrow than Sunday, so if you've waiting, better hop over to register!!

I can't believe it's already close to being full! It feels like it's filled up so fast this year.

It's filled up a lot faster this year. Last year my little sister and I registered in March, after the first price increase. So I finally decided to run the race again. But this time I'm strongly considering making it part 1 of the coast to coast.

Good luck with the C2C! I wish I could get out to WDW so I could go for it, but it's sadly not going to happen anytime soon.

Same here! One of these days I'll go for my C2C, but it'll be awhile. Maybe we can go for it together!

Hubby & I just signed up on Friday and are quite excited. This will be our third Disney half (wine & dine in 2010 & Donald this year) so we can get the coast to coast medal!! :cool1: we are wait listed for points at VGC but am thinking we need to make a back-up plan on accommodations....

Does anyone have any suggestion?? How nice are the good neighbor hotels?? Will it be an easy walk in the morning?? We are DL newbies for the most part as we only have visited 2 days a couple years ago on a go everywhere spring break trip.

Also coming from MI we are flying but have no idea about what airport to go to, if there is a magical express or equivalent, and all that kind of stuff..

We could really use some help.. Please!! :flower3:

For hotels, anything on Harbor is good ~ easy to get to the race and close to the parks. A lot of people stay at the HoJo and they have good rates. Best Western Park Place is right at the crosswalk, not 100% about resies though, I think I read Saturday might be sold out. Carousel Inn is right next to them also, pretty much anywhere on that Harbor couple of blocks is good and easy access. If you stay on Harbor, getting to the race will be easy, you just go straight down DTD and turn right at the DL Hotel and you're in the staging area. It's about a 1/3 of a mile or so, plus if you need it race morning, some of the restaurants will be open around 3 or 3:30 for coffee or jamba juice and bagels so you can pick it up along the way.

As for airports, the 2 main airports are Orange County and LAX. Orange is closer, but a lot of times a bit more $ than LAX. Just watch for good sales w/ Southwest and you might be able to get a good deal. There's no free Express bus like WDW, but you can take either Super Shuttle or a Disney Shuttle/Bus. The Super Shuttle is a little bit cheaper though.

For park tix, go through Get Travel, they offer discounted tix for runners.

Hope this helps!

A couple of questions for those of you that have run this race previously.

1. How often are there water stations?

2. Are there long lineups for character photos?

Just did Tinker Bell in January and did Disneyland 1/2 last September, water stations are in abundance. They have more water stations at these races than at the other races I do! It felt like we came up on an aid station every 1.5 miles!

The lines for characters are long, depending on the character and depending on where you are in the corrals. I stopped during Tinker Bell for a picture with Buzz Lightyear because 1) we were less than a mile from the finish and 2) He's my daughters favorite and so I knew it would make her happy to see a picture of him. So pick and choose who your "must haves" are is my strategy.

I registered for the 1/2 marathon the day registration opened.

I registered me, DH, and DD for the 5k yesterday and hours later, it sold out!

I booked our flights today because with the threat of gas going up and up, figured I'd better get our flight done and over with. May not have gotten the best deal but...at least we're locked in to going now!!

So excited!! This will be my 3rd 1/2 marathon at Disneyland (did Dland 1/2 2011 and Tinker Bell 2012). It will be my very first time doing the 5k so I'm excited for that.

I'm registered! This will be my first time running at DL but not my first 1/2 :)

The 5K sold out before I could decide to sign up but my mom and I now plan to volunteer for it. :thumbsup2

Sarah, sorry you weren't able to sign up for the 5k. Let me know how that goes, might do that next year w/ Tink. W/ the Goofy race the weekend before, don't know if my legs will be able to handle that extra race. Well, my legs and bank account! :rotfl2:
