Disneyland ½ Marathon Weekend~2012 Check-in!

I plan on doing the Color Run too!!! Looks like it will be on the 28th of July.
I'm all signed up for Bay to Breakers, are any DISers doing that one this year?

No, I'm missing this year. :sad2: I wanted to, but RnR announced their new race in Portland and I signed up way back last May and it's the same day. So I'll be running w/ you, but not with you. :goodvibes Next year is a yes for me though. Don't really like this year's logo, don't get the monkey. Do kind of like the reg options w/ the shirts though.

I'm currently in the Bay Area but moving down to SoCal this month  I had signed up for the Divas 1/2 in SF this year but now I'm not even sure if I'll be able to make it back up depending on my new work schedule. It'll be a bummer to lose out when I've already signed up for it. I'm hoping that I have a better shot at still being able to do the Disneyland since I should be working nights by that time. We'll see!

Good luck with your move! Are you transfering for work? Don't know if this will work b/c most races are so $ hungry now, but maybe if you contact the race you can defer your reg until next year so you can make it back up.

Just wanted to update on the process of e-mailing runDisney if you have a time to submit for corral placement. I e-mailed about 2-3 weeks ago, and after having gotten an immediate computer response saying they received my e-mail, I just got an e-mail back from someone today confirming that they recorded my time and I was all set. So be patient- it may take a while, but it appears that you will get a response from someone when they do actually note the time.

Woo Hoo! Its official! I just confirmed my spot!! This is my first 1/2 Marathon! Very excited and nervous at the same time! See you all in September! Can't Wait!!

Are you planning to join the other Bay Area marathons like the Color Run ?

I plan on doing the Color Run too!!!

They finally released the date on the page! It's going to be July 14th and somewhere around Candlestick. They said reg dates, $ and course would be soon, but at least we have a date now. Not really sure about the 'Stick though. Haven't been there since the Giants, but if it's still the same, it was exactly a "great" area. But it will be a fun race!

I had a horrible dream last night. A friend and I were running Tinker Bell 2013 and ended up being swept and a DNF!! I was devastated and angry because, in my dream, we were goofing off. Not taking the race seriously. But when they handed me my medal (which, even in my dream, I refused to wear), it was the ugliest medal ever! :rotfl: So instead of waking up and being freaked out this "could happen" to me, I woke up knowing that dream will never be reality just because the medal was so ugly! :woohoo:

Thought I'd share with people who may understand!

Have I started training? I ran a 5K race yesterday and have signed up for a 10k that will be in July. So, I guess I am forcing myself to gradually build up to 13 miles. I am getting a little nervous!

Anyone start training yet?

I have worked my way up to 5mi now. Would have given myself the C25k label as of Jan. 1 (had to stop and walk during a 5k last Fall) but have been running 3 times a week since.

The plan I use incorporates interval training once a week and then 2 additional runs (I try to make one be hilly and then a longer weekend run). My longer weekend run is with a running group and we go for distance while saying at a "conversational" pace so while I sometimes feel like we are going at a really slow jog it's nice becuause I easily make the distance which is something I was really scared about.

Love it! I completely understand that one. The only "medal" that I have that could ever compete w/ the disney ones is my Tiffany's necklace from NWM. But I think that's more b/c it's Tiffany's and not the design. :rotfl2:

This may be the 1st year I actually 1/2 way train specifically for this race! I do the SF 1/2 the last weekend in July and usually have a bigger race in the fall so this race has always been a maintenance run. But if I don't get into NY in Nov, then this will probably be my last race for the year. But training for WDW starts the week after for Goofy & Tink in January!

I do have to add though, I am really ready for this race again!! I'm going down at the end of the month for the weekend and was wishing that I could have DL empty like it is for the 5k. And then it got me reminiscing about the past 5ks and the way the park looked in the morning... so much better thinking about that then working.

Yeap! I am always training. I schedule myself multiple half marathons a year just to keep me training. It's really hard to blow off a run when I know I have a race coming up. Sadly, we're moving in to our "off season" here in PHX so training becomes very difficult. This is why I like the DL 1/2 because it forces me to train over the summer!

I just looked up with the NWM medal looks like - and man! It's a beaut. I don't blame you for liking it more, and you can wear it all the time without looking like a crazy person. I might have to sign up for one of those races!!

I can't wait for Tink registration to open!! I'm so totally there. And I think I'm going to do Princess in WDW in February.

My DH, DD and I will be running the Dland 5k this year. I'm excited. It'll be our first time doing the 5k!

And the firemen in tuxes handing them out to you really help!

You guys are going to love the 5k! I think it's my fave out of all the races that I've done. Probably b/c there's no pressure b/c of the 1/2 the next day, but there's something about the 5k I just really like. And b/c there are only so many people compared to the 1/2, the park is a lot more quiet and the way the sun hits the landmarks when it's coming up... It's just a really great way to enjoy the park in a way you normally wouldn't and many don't.

Hey another San Fran runner! Which half of the July race are you doing?

Also in for this race. Can't believe I actually signed up for the 5k this year (registered too late for the 5K last year, got my entry through charity). This ought to be an interesting way to celebrate my 23rd birthday!

I doing the 2nd 1/2 this year and really excited for it. I done the 1st 1/2 a couple of times as well as the Nike Women's the past 2 years and am worn out w/ the course, so trying something new this year. Plus, I don't want to run up that hill before the GGB and the one on the other side of the bridge. :scared1:

Are you doing the Color Run? That one looks like soooo much fun. I have to try again tomorrow night, b/c by the time I got on the site last week, it was already sold out. Fingers crossed for that one!!

Originally I was only going to sign DH and DD up for the 5k. But as I started thinking about it, I started to worry DH wouldn't take the appropriate pictures. So I signed myself up as their personal photographer. :woohoo: I do love seeing the sun come up on Disneyland, having it seen it now with the 1/2 marathon for Disneyland and Tinker Bell. It is pretty incredible. So I am excited!!!! :yay:

Just sad that I don't have any more races until these Disneyland ones. We're moving in to "off season" here in PHX. While the rest of the country is starting to get outdoors and get their run back on, we here in PHX have to start taking our runs indoors. Boo to that.

Don't blame you! I did the full last year and am cutting back due to trainer's request. Planning to do the Half it All next year before returning to the full for the 52 club (since for some reason the club doesn't recognize people who go in reverse go figure? :confused3:). The only other race left in the year maybe the Nike Woman's Half if I get in via lottery. Maybe being the key runner.

I actually live in Denver, so no color run for me. Plus with multiple trips planned this summer (Grand Canyon in June, San Fran in July, and then Disney in Sept) I doubt my parents would by very keen for traveling for another 5K (all ready did that two weeks ago). Hope you got in!

I did get into the Color Run!! Went on early just to have the site up and the reg button was already there so I got in. And it sold out again for the 2nd wave.

Saw the 52 Club thing and am going for that one as well. I love the sweatshirt. So simple, but I guess it's the little things that get you. :rotfl2:

The big one I'm waiting on right now is NY. Luckily the wait will be over on Wed, but it seems like forever. As much as I want to get in, my credit card is hoping a little bit I don't get in until next year. I was looking at hotel prices for the weekend, and they are crazy. And w/ Marathon Weekend and Tink back to back right off the bat in January, $ is going to be tight. The tiny bit of saving grace there is that my AP will still be good until the end of Jan, so I don't have to worry about park tix for those races.

Haven't seen it yet- I keep checking the runDisney website, but it seems it hasn't been updated in a while. They still have the volunteer info from the Tinkerbell Half up there.

Thanks for checking - I've never looked for that info before and I'd hate to miss it!
