Disneyland ½ Marathon Weekend~2012 Check-in!

Hey, you and I should switch! It's really easy for me to get to WDW and do races, but VERY hard to get to CA! Those cross country flights are no joke! I'm so excited to come to DL!!

Ack! Flying ... I hate flying! Forget the money, that's the real reason I probably wont do a WDW race for a very long time. I'll have to take a long road trip of the train if I ever head out that way.

I wasn't going to because I really don't have the money right now but my mom said she'd help me out on th DIVA Trip. :thumbsup2

I'm trying to get her to sign up for the 5K.

Gotta love moms ;) I'll cheer her on if she does!!

I love your avatar! That's awesome! I wish I had a brick!

Thanks!

My mom actually bought it. It has my dad's, mom's, sister's, brother's and my name on it.

What's really cool is that it is right dead center in front of the main entry gates to Disneyland. :thumbsup2

I don't like flying either. I've flown once to SF and it was awful! :rotfl: And it was only like a 45 minute flight. :sad2: When you're ready I'll drive or ride the train with you. :thumbsup2

I hope she signs up. Then I have to decide if I want to run it with her or just cheer her on. It's only $50 because it doesn't include a ticket this time.

I'm really tempted to do the 5k, also. If it doesn't fill up by March, I'll probably sign up for it.

It sounds like a plan, Sarah! One day I would really love to have a C2C medal so I'm going to make it happen at some point.

Now that I'm already registered for the 1/2 a part of me is wondering if I should do the 5K as well or if that's a little too much for me right now. I wouldn't have been able to do it for the Tink but I should be in better shape by then. I'd be more likely to if some Divas I knew were going to do it too :rolleyes1

We are considering doing the Everest5k at WDW just so we can get in another one before Sept, but are unsure yet if the timing will work.

If you do Everest, you have to come back and do a race report. I've always wanted to do that one, it sounds like a ton of fun. Plus the medal looks awesome!!

You should totally do both of the races! It's not that bad, I usually do a slow jog or walk the 5k and do my pics then so I don't have to take my camera for the 1/2. (I did the reverse last weekend though) As long as you don't go hard and stretch well after, you should be fine for Sunday. Plus depending on how the 1/2 course changes w/ Cars Land, you get to go in some different backstage area w/ the 5k.

I used to HATE airplanes, but I hate long car rides even more. 19 hours in the car vs. 2 hours gate to gate to WDW...I'll take the plane! I can be at my hotel before I would have even been out of the state!

Thanks!

That's so cool! We are DVC members at Bay Lake Tower, and everytime I walk to Magic Kingdom I wish we had a brick. We are etched onto one of those little panels outside of Epcot, but that's not as cool as a brick!

I'm running EEC. Should be fun!

I am thinking about signing myself up for the 5k as well so I can do it with my DW. Wondering about finding a jogging stroller as we will have my DD (6) with us and don't think she will be able to run the 5k.

Has anyone rented a jogging stroller in the Anaheim area and is fairly accessable (sp?) as we won't have a car. We are staying at the DL hotel.

It would be fun to have a big Diva group to do the 5K. We could get matching shirts. :thumbsup2

I can see the appeal when you live that far away. I'd still rather drive to WDW but at least my drive to Disneyland can be as quick as 5 1/2 hours depending on what time of the day I leave and if there were any accidents along the way.

Now that's a great argument for doing both!

I say we try to talk as many as we can into it! I think I've officially settled in on both. I would love some photos from something but I don't think I would want to take my camera with me for the 1/2 (remember how clumsy I was being at dinner?).

And I officially requested time off for the Diva 1/2 in SF and I am going to register for it tonight! I have 1 friend already who will go with me and we're going to try getting a room at the hotel that's holding the Expo so I don't have to drive out there super-early.

Just registered a few days ago! I am super excited as this will be my first half marathon, first time at Disneyland and will be on a 7 day cruise 6 hours after the race! :woohoo: can't wait!!

I'm officially registered for the Disneyland Half! This will be my first half marathon and I am so excited :goodvibes

That sounds amazing! Is it the Disney Cruise that recently launched?

Oh, and I forgot to add that I have officially signed up for another 1/2 (Divas, SF Bay Area) to help get me ready for the Disneyland 1/2 :)

I usually cruise as my vacation only, however I saw the disney half marathons and they looked like so much fun I tried to book one around the half and it worked out (and good excuse to visit disneyland, i've always wanted to go!)

no, this will be on the carnival splendor

That's AWESOME- you will love it! We just did something similar... we went on a 6 night Disney Cruise for Christmas, then spent New Year's in WDW and stayed through Marathon weekend to run the Half. It was so great! And I can't think of a better way to celebrate your first Half Marathon than with a cruise! :)

maybe ill have enough of a runners high at the end of the race to just continue running to the port :rotfl:

Where would you all recommend staying for the half marathon? We're planning on flying in Friday night and checking out Sunday after the half, and don't really need anything too fancy (anything with a free airport shuttle is a plus!) Also, for first timers in DL, would you a) go to DL 2 days (half day Friday and full day Saturday) or b) just Saturday full day? And on that, would it be worth it for a parkhopper pass or just 1 park pass? I've only really found information for 3+ day passes. DBF is not much of a ride person (I'm a big fan though so hopefully I can sneak on a few :teeth:).
