Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

I'm pretty sure you *cannot* use a gift card (but don't know for sure), additionally someone mentioned their YES ticket purchase not being eligible for the free 0% for 6 months on disney vacation purchases.

This is true.

Does anyone know if I can use a Disney gift card to purchase the tickets through the YES program? We have a Disney Chase credit card and have been saving up points to buy our tickets. I'm wanting to enroll one of my kids in a program during October and would love the use our points to purchase the tickets.

As others have stated you can't. However you could use the gift card to pay for your meals, or the dining plan or your reservation.. or even to put on your room account for purchases in the parks. So if you are staying onsite you could make use of it other ways and still be able to save money by getting the YES tickets.:)

There are a few classes for Oct 3, 4, & 7 that are listed as "Registration coming soon" on the website now.

I am very overwhelmed reading this thread. Anyone care to break it down for me in super duper simple terms?

I have a son who will be in 2nd grade when we visit next in October.

1) are there classes he can take?
2) how would I go about getting 7 day hoppers due to this?
3) how much would those tickets cost?

That's all I need to know! I think he would have an absolute BLAST "going to school in Disney". But I am very confused as to how it all works. I read through the first few pages here, and on the Disney website..but my head is spinning!

1. What are your dates?
2. You would pick what tickets you want when you complete the class registration.
3. I can't remember offhand, I think in the $180-190 range/person? Our 8 day hoppers came to $190.62/person.

I'll give it a try...

1) Here is the link to the catalog of classes for both Florida and California. You can select which location and narrow the list. We are taking a class in October and my son will also be in 2nd grade. The classes are based on an age range, from age 5 to 18. But only certain classes are offered on certain days. http://www.disneyyouth.com/individual-enrollment/catalog/

2) You can purchase tickets for 3 day to 8 day, basic tickets or hoppers or water park&hopper. You will make your choice and purchase when you register for the class. You will be able to purchase tickets for the child and the child's immediate family (parents & siblilngs). Be sure you enter all members of your family during the registration process and then only check-mark the child and adult that will attend the class. These tickets are non-refundable so be sure that your trip is definite before you purchase.

3) The YES tickets are approximately 40% off the Disney price. You can go through the registration process and the see the prices without actually making a purchase. Another common question, if you staying on-site, can you use a free-dining discount. The easy answer is no. You can use a room-only discount. The free-dining is possible, but takes some complex planning, and room-only is usually a better deal anyway.

Hope that helps. If you have more questions, post them and someone will try to help.

I would second the room only is usually a better deal. You could do free dining, you would just have to buy the minimum amount of tickets to qualify(I believe a 2 day ticket for everyone in your room). You could then have those tickets removed from your KTTW and saved for future use/upgrade.

Having 5 people in our family free dining is typically our best money saving discount(especially with 2 Disney adult kids), but we went a totally different route this time.

Hi I was wondering what the latest is on the number of tickets etc you can buy now. We already purchased our tickets for our August trip before all the changes came about. I was able to purchase 4 tickets total. We are a family of 5 but the youngest is an infant. So I was able to get a ticket for myself, my dh, our DD age 9 attending the class and ds age 4. Are they still allowing this or does anyone know for sure yet? The website is still very confusing.

THANK YOU!

We will be there from 10/14 - 10/21.

Do I pay when I register him, or am I paying when we get there?

You pay when you register. If he is 8 or 9 I only see 2 class options.

Disney's Ocean Discoveries | Individual EnrollmentOctober 17, 2011
Age Range: 8-15 This class is full.

The American Story | Individual EnrollmentOctober 14, 2011
Age Range: 8-11 This class starts at 7:15am.

Anybody know if they will list any individual classes for the last week of September?

If anyone is interested in Dynamics of Technology or Synergy in Science on June 14th at Epcot, I thought I'd let you know that there "might" be openings.
I had 2 kids registered in each of those classes and we just switched them into a different class.
I'm not sure if it will show up on the website and I'm not even sure if they will let anyone else register. But I know there should be 2 empty spaces in each class, so it might be worth calling if you're interested.

Are there any printed materials that the kids receive during class? We are doing a class at MK but then are planning on going to AK. Do I need to plan to stop by the room and drop anything off from class first? It is the How Things Move class.

I can tell you for World of Physics-Energy & Waves there was not any materials that were printed or anything else that we were given to keep. During the class the kids did a drawing on a small pad that was handed out to each kid but that was turned back over to the instructor. I can't say how it will be for How Things Move because we did not attend that class but just in case they give out some stuff to keep each theme park does have lockers usually very close to where you enter the park where you could leave anything you might get.

:goodvibes

New sessions now posted for late October. Wild by Nature is already filled, but the others are still open.

I tried to search this thread but couldn't find what I wanted. How far in advance of the class date can I pick up our YES tickets? There is a class on 8/23 that my DD can attend, but we will want to got o the parks before then.
