There is a Homeschool event that day. You could go to the AK homeschool event, that is my plan :thumbsup2

Here is an email from Heidi at WDW:

We will be offering our Individual Enrollment programs during January and February, the tickets for this include your park admission plus one program and then you can add on additional programs for $26 per person/program. With the Homeschool Days event there will be a special presentation on January 24th at Animal Kingdom which will be included in your ticket cost (which is less than the Individual Enrollment ticket) and then if you want to add on a Disney YES Program to your Homeschool Days ticket it will be an additional $26 per person/program.

The registration sites for each program should be available within the next few weeks, hopefully by mid November.

Thanks!
Heidi

HOPE THIS HELPS!!

Do you have to be a home schooler? And that would be one ticket per student, right?

I asked the question last year and you did not have to be a home schooler. I asked Heidi about the homeschool tickets and here was her reply:

Hi Emily,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We do allow you to purchase tickets for everyone in your family traveling with you and the registration site I believe has a cap of 20 tickets when you order. If you end up have 10 or more kids traveling with you then we could potentially count you as your own group order for possibly your own Disney YES program. Let me know if this is the case and I can get you those options.

Let me know if there is anything else you need, I’m happy to help.

Thanks!

I love Heidi!

Such good news! Monday was going to be driving back day; maybe if it's not TOO late in the day, it would be possible to swing the class on the 24th. Thank you SO much!

So, anyone can go to the Homeschool days? Even if they have fewer than 10 kids? I am so confused, I thought that was just the "yes" program that everyone was eligible for.

From what I'm seeing under "individual enrollment", that is the Yes program, correct? It looks like there is one class per week for most of Jan/Feb, I thought last year they were mostly in one week. Hmm... maybe we it won't hit dd's mid-terms and we could go!

You do not have to have a group for Homeschool Days. You NORMALLY have to have a group for YES, however, when open enrollment is offered you do not. We have done YES open enrollment but 2011 will be our first homeschool days event. The tickets are a reduced price, but be sure you order a couple of extra days just in case!! Last year's freak snow storm in NC kept us in Disney for 2 extra days, and we couldn't add on days to the tickets. So my new rule is order 10 day tickets no matter what! They are so much cheaper than regular priced tickets that you might as well get a couple of extra days just in case.

I hope you decide to attend! Perfect event for a DISMEET!!!

Thanks so much for this information! We were trying to plan a trip for DD's birthday in January, because we never go for her birthday. Everyone else's birthday is in September. How do you like January? I am worried it'll be too cold for me to want to do anything :goodvibes Also my oldest DD is in 1st grade. Do you know if the Homeschool Days has a starting age limit?

I absolutely love January! It's our favorite time to go. It's cool at night and on the balcony for breakfast :lovestruc. There have been times when it was downright cold and times where I was sweating, so pack for everything.

There are two classes being offered on Jan 23, one for ages 11 up and one for 8-11. However there is no info on age restrictions for the presentation on the 24th:

Special Presentation on January 24, 2011
During Disney Homeschool Days at Walt Disney World® Resort, homeschoolers will gather for a special presentation on January 24, 2011 at 10:00 am at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park Pocahontas Amphitheater featuring a discussion of the upcoming DisneyNature feature film AFRICAN CATS. To reserve your seat, select the presentation box on the registration form and notate how many will attend the presentation.

So who knows? I will try to email or call Heidi tomorrow and see what I can find out.

Oh please do let us know. A class on the 23rd would be even better! Are the tickets the same price as the YES ones?

Homeschool tickets are actually supposed to be slightly cheaper than YES tickets. There looks to definitely be two classes on the 23rd, but you can't register for them yet:

I will let you know when I get more info!

I just checked the YES site and it looks like they added some classes MLK week  There are a couple of classes on the 17th, 18th,and on the 23rd.

I'm so confused...lol. So you don't have to be a home schooler for the homeschool days? How does this program differ from the individual enrollment days, and does one parent still have to chaperone during the presentation? Any info on this program would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much =)

The site now shows dates for January, February, June, July and August 2011. However, when you click to go to the page, it tells you to come back on Nov 15th. I guess this is the magical day to book the classes! Super excited to see some for June 2011!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I could have sworn there were classes for the 24th and 25th at the animal kingdom. Am I crazy?

It was publicized that way previously, but I don't see it now.
