Disney YES Program Open to non-groups

So you guys that are talking about AK in January...Is this open enrollment, or home schooling?

There are several of us who are hoping for an open enrollment (OE) period in January. Since Home School Days (HS) have been announced for AK on 1/24 & 1/25, we are hoping that they offer OE at that time. Last year the OE and HS days coincided.

If you attend during OE, you pay the discounted price for everyone in your group. If you go outside of OE period, you can organize your own group of 10 or more students (bunkkinsmom is organizing a group for end of Jan). In this case you get the discounted price for each enrolled student, plus one discounted adult ticket per student.

Hopefully there will be an announcement in October for dates in 2011.

I've read the entire thread (last week actually) and am facsinated that I'd never heard of this program as I thought I knew everything about Disney :rotfl:. Well I can't remember now and figure one of you may have an answer for me which would be quicker than me reading the whole tread again....were there any OE days in May this year? I'm trying to roughly plan out a trip for some folks who want to try the YES program during OE (myself included) and want to get some "sample" prices together.

Thanks for plugging my group! I hope it comes together, as of right now I have had exactly 0 takers!

We will be enrolling in the homeschool program if I can't get enough interest in a group. We did the AK program last year and LOVED it, so we are totally ok with it being AK again this year! :goodvibes

I don't think there were open enrollment dates in May 2010. If I recall correctly the dates for open enrollment began around June 10.

We are headed to Disney in January 2011. Sunday the 9th until Friday the 14th. We are hoping for open enrollment as well. I sent a request for information in September and was told an announcement would be made sometime in October.

I just received my 7 day YES tickets (with park hopper and 7 fun visits) and was surprised to see that they are valid for 24 days - I was expecting 14. So, does this mean that I can use them anytime within that range or do I have 14 days from the date of first use as long as it is within the range given? I was considering a shift in my travel plans if the former is true. TIA.

They are good beginning a week before your arrival date until a week after your departure date.....

Hello Everyone. Disney started posting the open enrollment dates for January and February 2011 yesterday. I spoke with someone online and they said that there are planning on posting more dates within the month. They also said that they would be finished by November 15, 2010 and the classes would become available to start booking.

Yes, I noticed this as well but the site was confusing so I called the 1-888 number. They are putting the dates online but you can't book until Nov 15th and all the dates are not on there yet. She told me the dates for February and the web site was missing one of the days. It was confusing because you clicked on the more info and it gave you a message about Nov 15. I called because I didn't want to miss out. They are also working on getting hotel room discounts to families who participate in the YES program. Instead of Open Enrollment they are calling it Individual Enrollment and the hotel rooms will be included for Individual Enrollment famlies. I have NO idea of what discount will be on the rooms. She did mention that the meal plan would NOT be included because of all the other discounts.

I am too thrilled and can't wait until Nov 15th to see what my savings will be!

I was a little confused by that as well, but didn't call the number for more information :o/ I'm excited to hear they are discounting room tickets as well considering I thought they only discounted the theme park tickets ... with all of that, I don't really need a food discount. :o)

Are there any current groups for December? We will be there from the 11th-24th. I have a 2nd grader and kindergartener. Thanks!

Yes, there is a group that formed on it's own, but not for that age ... I have 2 kids in the same grade as yours, which is how I know. It appears as though the only YES series that will work for our little ones is "How Things Move" for ages 5 to 8 and "Synergy in Science" for ages 6 to 11, I don't know of any groups with that age at all that are already formed and they don't have any dates up on the YES site for those groups yet either.

We did the Wild by Nature class at Animal Kingdom last week with Mel as our guide. It was great. The kids (and my husband and I) loved it and were enthralled the entire time. I'm so glad we had this class.

What age do you think it was best for?

I'm so disappointed there won't be open enrollment for MLK week. I was really hoping my niece and nephew could do the AK class and we just can't shift our dates. Previously they had advertised the 24th but it looks like that's not the case now. Hope it works out for everyone else.

There is a Homeschool event that day. You could go to the AK homeschool event, that is my plan :thumbsup2

Here is an email from Heidi at WDW:

We will be offering our Individual Enrollment programs during January and February, the tickets for this include your park admission plus one program and then you can add on additional programs for $26 per person/program. With the Homeschool Days event there will be a special presentation on January 24th at Animal Kingdom which will be included in your ticket cost (which is less than the Individual Enrollment ticket) and then if you want to add on a Disney YES Program to your Homeschool Days ticket it will be an additional $26 per person/program.

The registration sites for each program should be available within the next few weeks, hopefully by mid November.

Thanks!
Heidi

HOPE THIS HELPS!!
