My dd5 is signed up for How Things Move on 2/14. Anyone else signed up for this class yet?

So i emailed them..they said classed are typically not offered
From march-may. Which stinks!! Does anyone know if they added
Any classes during that time period last year? Is there any hope?

They did not add any classes during that timeframe this year (2011). But, the program was run differently before about April, so who really knows for next year! Still, I would not expect it.

Anyone interested in a review of The American Story? DS16 and DD14 went last Friday; I went along as well.

Can I ask how old are your kids? We are scheduled for that class in January 2012 for my 6YO and 11YO neice. You think they will in enjoy it or will Daddy and Grandpa like it more than the girls?:goodvibes

Sorry about the slow reply - I've been playing with all the photopass pics from our trip!

Here's a mini-review of the Synergy In Science class. My kids were 6 and 8 at the time. When we arrived at the will call window to start the class, there were coordinators there separating families out, and she clearly tried to group by ages. There were 8 kids in our group, and my 8 yr old son was clearly the oldest. (The age limit for this class is 6 - 11 I think - and it looked like the other group had older kids in it.)

We stopped inside the gates and learned about synergy, played with tinker toys and talked about how they built spaceship earth. Then we rode spaceship earth. Then we talked about 3D and watched Captain EO (the actual show was probably the low point of the class - the kids had no idea who Michael Jackson was and the movie was really dated.) But afterwards the instructor did a great demonstration of how 3D worked and it really got the kids interested. Then did Journey into Imagination with Figment (which I know gets mixed reviews, but my kids liked it so much, we had to go back and do it again later in the trip!). We finished off by talking about everything and the kids did a puzzle together.

My kids list it everytime someone asks them their favorite things about Disney - and we were there for 7 days, so it really sticks out for them! All of the conversations clearly were geared for a younger group, but I can't say if that's because our group was younger, or if the class is always like that.

Hope this helps,
Gina

Hi! I am wondering if you can add the dining plan on to your yes tickets?

I apologize if this has been answered many times, I did a search and read through many pages of this thread and could not find this, thank you so much!

Unfortunately you will not be able to add the dining plan to the YES tickets...these tickets are not linked in any way to room-only or packages. Our early October trip we used our YES tickets but also took advantage of the free dining offer. We did not use the 2-day base ticket we had to purchase to get free dining however we have these tickets for a future trip to either use or to upgrade with additional days. Without free dining, you would have to purchase at least a one-day park ticket for everyone in your room to add a dining plan. Hope this helps!

It helps a ton, thank you so much for your response!!

Yes, I'm interested! Thinking of doing that next year.

We met at the TTC around 7:15 and the kids were split into small groups; I think there were 7 kids in our group. We hopped on the monorail and went to the MK.

Since my kids are older; parental involvement was discouraged. I may be vague about the specifics because I tended to wander from the group. I had a friend with her kids in the younger class and parental involvement was encouraged.

Our first stop was Liberty Square. Kim (our instructor) talked about the Constitution, states' representation, and the Presidents. The highlight of the class: we got to go on stage with the animotronic Presidents! It was absolutely fascinating. The CM in charge of the Presidents was there to answer questions and I was able to continue our conversation after the class moved on. WOW!

On to Frontierland to discuss the wild west and the gold rush. The kids participated in a bartering activity.

We were first in line to ride Splash Mountain and next went to Big Thunder Mountian. Then, back to the Hall of Presidents to watch the show.

After the show, all the students gathered around the Liberty Bell with a chance to ring it; also very cool. At the end of class, all students received a copy of the Decalration of Independence.

All in all, a great experience.

This is the concern I have...what if the kids don't ride roller coasters and/or water rides? DS won't ride coasters, DD won't ride Splash, and I won't ride either of those rides (I don't do water and BTMR is too "jerky" for me). Do they allow those who are fearful of these rides to stay behind? If so, will this a miss a lot of the experience of the class. They both (believe or not) would really like to go backstage at Hall of Presidents.

Not all the students in our class rode both rides. Not a big deal at all.

What a FANTASTIC experience!

Thank you for the review, and for answering this question! We were considering this class, but DD hates Splash Mt (I know! She's goofy, lol).

May I ask what age group you were with?

When we purchased our YES tickets, I remember reading that they do not expire after 14 days. I read that they are good up to 7 days before your arrival date to 7 days after your departure date. I was a little confused on that because I wasn't sure why you would need them before you arrive or after you depart, but I remember a few people on dis saying that is one of the many benefits of purchasing the YES tickets. When we picked up our tickets, on the back it states, valid from Oct 17-Oct 31. We are here from Oct 15-Nov 5th. Does anyone know about the expiration? If they are in fact valid for the entire length of our trip, does anyone know where it states this? If I had of known it was only 14 days, we would have done a later class. We had planned on visiting a park the day before we leave. Either way we'll make it work, but now it's bugging me where I read that lol.

When you signed up for the class, what dates did you put in for arrival and departure?

it should have been active from the 15th then unless they have changed something that I am unaware of since June

I got our tickets a week before our class w/o any trouble

Maybe somebody knows the answer to this....

Has there been classes in the previous years for late Feb? Trying to plan for way too far in advance and was just curious
