Disney Y.E.S. Program

Wow, there is so much info here! Can anyone help me out with a few questions I can't find the answers to or am just not sure of?

1. When should the dates for Jan/Feb 2013 be posted?
2. Can I pay with gift cards?
3. We have 3 kids, 2 parents. If all 3 kids go to the same class, only 1 parent can go, correct? If only 2 kids go to a class, can we still get discounted tickets for all 5 of us? Dd will be 17, I'm worried there might not be a class for her age group.

Thanks! :goodvibes

I can help a little ;)

1. Probably not until fall, but I'm not entirely sure. They did release this summers schedule earlier than last year.

2. No, you can not buy the tickets with gift cards.

3. Yes, if all 3 kids go to the same class, only 1 parent can attend. I believe that kids over 13 do not need a parent to attend with them. If there are no classes for 17 year olds offered during the time that you are there, but your other kids attend a class, you WILL still be able to get a discounted ticket for all 5 members of your family.

Hope this helps :)

I'm so excited!

I just made a ticker - yeah! We were undecided and the class we wanted filled up a while ago, and the only class left during our week was the Ocean Discovery class, which only my DS is old enough for. But we decided to go for it, and I'll just have to think of something fun for DD, she'll be a little bummed because she had so much fun in her class last year, but hey we're at Disney she'll be just fine! Good thing we didn't wait longer, because the Ocean class closed after we bought our tickets! Wow - can't believe so many October classes are closed already. Last year I bought our Oct tickets in July.

Congrats n deciding. We ended up doing homeschool days on the 25th since there weren't any classes my kids could take together. My older 2 would argue constantly if one was taking a class and the other wasn't! I would prefer a YES class but the HS Chimpanzee presentation will have to do!
I just made a ticker too!:goodvibes

I am not really complaining, because I think the Y.E.S. classes are awesome and will be doing them again with DD12, but is anyone else disappointed with the lack of classes around the October Homeschool days this year? And to find so many already filled up! Last year, we couldn't even register for the Homeschool day until July and there were so many classes to chose from (we did 4!), this year registration is already open, there are less classes and some are already closed! I guess I am just worried that when my budget finally opens up for me to buy tickets in two weeks, the remaining classes will be closed. :confused3 I wish they had waited until July again to open registration...this buying them months before I planned has really stressed me out. :headache:

I was quite disappointed as well! Now with that being said they did add more classes to Oct. last year as I was waiting to register and then more popped up...so we were able to do Wild By Nature when it wasn't on the original list that had been released for Oct. So maybe there is hope ;)

I'm holding out hope as well! :) Wasn't Wild by Nature wonderful? DD wants to do that one again, just in the older age bracket this year. Sadly it is one of the closed classes. I also REALLY wanted the American Experience class to be available, I could apply that to next year's curriculum...but she didn't really want to do that one anyway so she's happy. Right now, and if the classes don't close before I buy on the 9th, she will be in the Captivating Memories and Making Waves with a Marine Career class as well as the Homeschool day class. Hmmm....I think I may write a letter and inquire about the possibility of more classes being added. :thumbsup2

I just registered my DD13 for the Wild by Nature class on 8/28!! I'm bummed that we can't do the free dining with it but what a great opportunity! I think we'll end up saving more than we'll eat so it'll still be a savings! I know it'll be hot in AK in August but it's early in the morning and it'll get done before it gets TOO hot. I have one question though - the email says that the class meets at the flagpole beyond the main entrance so I'm assuming that's inside? She's going to the class by herself because she's at the age where she'd have more fun without me but it says that I must stay in the park during this time. So does that mean I will go in at 8:30 and just hang out until things start up (when the park opens at 9)?:confused3

I really need to get my DD signed up today and am waffling between Wild by Nature and Disney's World of Physics: Properties of Motion at the Magic Kingdom.

She would like to do Wild by Nature but I'm worried that it's going to be beastly hot in early Sept. Granted it will be hot while we are touring as a family but at least then we can pop in and out of a/c as needed .. do our own thing. Am I being silly?

Anybody have any feedback on the Physics class ???

I thought I had read somewhere that if you're party consists of 2 adults traveling with 1 child that both adults can do the class with your 1 child. I called today to inquire and was told that is not the case.

I totally understand why because they can only accommodate so many "people" for each session but I was hopeful that adults wouldn't be figured into the total number. Oh well .. we'll do like we did last year .. DH will do the class with DD and I'll wander around until they are done. OR .. maybe I can talk DH into letting me attend and he can stay at the condo and relax until we are finished. I would really like to participate with her.

Wouldn't you know I find out about this program when my DD is about to turn 18. Unfortunately there is only one class for her age while we are there but for the price of the tickets I am thinking it is worth it.

We have 3 adults and 1 17YO. So if I am reading correctly we would only be able to buy 3 tickets at that price.
Also I would not be able to upgrade to an annual pass?

That is correct.

I hope you're right, I had the page bookmarked and logged on at 10:00 a.m. EST at the 180-day mark and the class I wanted was closed already! Thanks wgeo!! :headache::laughing:

I'll just keep checking in...

You can get both parents tickets when you only have one child, but only one adult per family can attend the class.

I know you aren't directing this to me, but wanted to tell you this was our favorite class, hands down! Great class; really energetic teachers and how they show you AK makes you really see that park in a whole new light. We are very disappointed that we won't be able to take this again next trip...keeping fingers crossed they open more up. :goodvibes

Oooh sorry that I closed the class! I am really hopeful that they will add more classes. Also for future reference you don't have to wait until 180 days out to buy tickets, that's only for rest. reservations. Good luck.
