I haven't taken a DW trip since before the YES program started. I'm confused by statements from people that say they're getting tickets for half the price. I put our info in (2 adults, 1 child for YES program) and it comes up about $250 less. That's still great, but I want to know if I am not doing it correctly...

We're going in August and I am hoping to get the Free Dining Plan. I'm thinking that might be more worth our money. Does that sound right?

If I do the Waterpark option and park hoppers for 8 days for the 5 of us I am about $2050 if I do all that through the yes program its about $1100 ish. Nearly 1/2 price.
It depends on your number of days and extra features.

Our family (2 adults, 2 kids) was $770 for 6 day park hopper tickets through YES. We also booked a room onsite with a room-only discount of 25%. Through Disney the same tickets would have been $1298. Even if a free dining promotion comes out for our travel dates we save more money with YES because we'd be paying more for the tickets and the room only discount would be removed to get the free dining package. We have done the dining the last 2 years (once free, once paid) and it is just way more food than we need. If it were free and a YES class wasn't offered I would of course get it but I won't pay for the dining plan. I just purchase disney gift cards throughout the year to use for our food while on property.
Also, if you didn't want the park hopper option the savings wouldn't be as great but we like the flexibility.

The last poster is right. Based on the number of tickets and features, it will change your savings. We are saving $700 but we bought premium tickets for 3 kids and 2 adults for 5 days. If you're only saving $250, I would agree you would save probably $500 at least on free dining?

I was taken by surprise to see October classes open up. Now I'm worried. I have been on a waitlist/ongoing search for a resort Oct 13-20 or so, and still haven't gotten anything. Now I'm worried that if I wait, the classes will fill up!
It will be me, Dh and our 2 grandkids 5 & 11. A great class is available for DGS11- Production Arts and Science but nothing for 5 year old Granddaughter.
3 Questions:
1. Will more classes open up?
2. Can I just register to reserve the spot and buy tickets a bit later?
3. If I sign up just my grandson, can I still buy tickets for all four of us?

Bonus question- If DH can't make trip can my DD (grdkids mom) use his ticket?
OK- that's all

Last year they DID open up more classes for Oct. as I waited and waited for Wild By Nature and they finally added them in July!

We have a family of 3, 2 adults one child. Our tickets thru YES for 8 days with water park and hopper is 660 thru Disney its 1136 before taxes so our best bet is to go with the YES program. We also rent DVC points to save money so for us QS free dining just isnt an option when we value in what we actually eat while in the parks and we would have to pay OOP anyway for our sitdown buffets.

What tickets were you planning on buying? I know someone who was buying 4 day tickets found the savings were a lot less.

For us, YES tickets were $847 for 8 day hoppers. Our party of 4 are all adults, and through Disney, the same tickets would have been $1406. That is right at a 40% discount.

The tickets are not as great a deal if you are comparing YES tickets to a Disney's Child priced ticket. There is your difference, since you are doing 2 adults and 1 child.

It is also not so great if you only do the basic tickets. The savings add up when you to go to hopper and water parks and more options.


We have 2 adults and 2 over 9 so adult priced children. We saved about 40%.

First, has anyone done the marine careers vs the disney world of Phisics vs wild by nature?

I have two 14 year old boys for the class.

Second, the site will only allow me to click one parent for the class. Can both my wife and I go with our boys?

I haven't done it yet, but was faced with the same choices for our August trip. I chose the Marine Careers. I figured that it could be HOT spending 3 straight hours outside in Animal Kingdom in August, so I would go with the class that was more likely to be climate controlled. (I'm fine with us spending a day at AK, but if we go as a family we can always choose to pop inside for a while. That option isn't there if we're taking a class.)

Ahhhh, I see!! We are only getting basic tickets for 8 days and we have 2 adults and 1 kid that we're paying for... HOWEVER, I can totally see how it would be worth it for a future trip!

Please if anyone else is scheduled for the 8/29/12 class Ocean's Discoveries class please post. AI am freaking out about spending nearly 700.00 for an unlisted class.

My apologies, I've gotten to page 5 of this thread and I've tried to navigate the Y.E.S. site but I'm left going Maybe it's the early hour (2AM as I type this) that's left me puzzled. We are hoping to go in November. My questions:

1) Are there no events open just yet for November?

2) As a family do we register as a part of group or as individuals?

"We" consists mainly of me, DS17 (at the time of travel) and DS13 (at the time of travel). DH may or may not include himself. DH isn't too keen on going. He wants to tent camp, again, in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park this summer. The rest of us are voting that down. We have been tent camping in the GSMNP every year, at least once a year, for the last 5 years. We're ready to see some other "animals" - a mouse, a duck, a couple dogs, an alien ...

ETA: To clarify this (from the site): "Each admission ticket includes one (1) Disney Youth Education Series – Individual Enrollment program plus theme park admission for the number of days indicated. To experience more than one program during your visit, please add $28 per program, per student to the ticket package price listed below. To protect the integrity of the experience, one chaperone is permitted to participate in the program with their student(s).

Prices are valid for students and accompanying immediate family members. Once your order has been placed, print your confirmation and present it at Guest Relations or ticket window at any Disney Park for redemption the day prior to your program date."

To purchase 4 tickets can just one of my sons take a class or do both need to take a class? I understand only 1 adult per child in each class but I'm not sure how many tickets I can buy for my immediate family with only 1 child taking only the 1 class.

my understanding is that Disney does not offer classes for November however I am far from being an expert

I checked not by going through a link, but by going to disneyyouth.com and while there is not a discription up for the 8/29/12 class anymore, it is showing up on the actual reservations page. It is saying that class is still open, so I'm not sure why it isn't showing up on main page. Did you get your email conf. pages? If you are still concerned on Monday just call the office to verify that you are indeed signed up for the class. Good luck!

Cool! 4 girls and 2 boys posted already, half the class must be posting on this thread! I heard there is only about a dozen kids per class?
I'm so glad I kept checking the board too. I wouldn't have known just from checking the disney website because it still said "registration coming soon". That was the only class my son could take during our trip and it filled up within 2 days.

My 8yo niece and I will also be in the 6/12 synergy in science class! DH and our two nephews will be in everyday chemistry. I'm also glad for this board and I knew exactly when to sign up. Certainly helping the budget quite a bit. See you all there!

The kids (8, 8, 4) and now converted Diseny-resistant Mom (after last years GREAT trip) haved talked me into a return this summer. The YES program was not only a great experience for the twins, but financially advantageous to us as well. We just booked them into the Animation Magic class and lunch at the Castle. Some happy people in this household!

What is the best way to get to a class before park opening? Get to the bus stop super early? Drive? (We drive to FL so we have a car, but we have always relied completely on Disney transportation during our trips.)

I will be attending an 8:15 class at MK with my two younger kids. DH and older DD have also have a class at MK at 9:00. I think if we drive, we will all go together, so DH and DD will just hang out at the gates until their class starts.


Right now I realize I should have paid better attention to all those early breakfast ADR threads that I usually ignore.
