Disney Y.E.S. Program

Mel - that's so nice! I'll have to make something like that for my son after our trip! :thumbsup2

I honestly wasn't trying to be a jerk (I am usually pretty good at that without trying), I just thought people were being a little nitpicky about a pretty cool program that I would expect to pay more for, not get a discount for.
For what it's worth (not much, I'm sure, LoL) I understood what you meant! :thumbsup2

alittle memento of the event that maybe could be added to her scrap book or sent to her in the mail.

Hugs
Mel
Great idea! :wizard:

I don't think you were being a jerk at all! I don't understand why people think that they should get something at the end of the class either. People expecting and then demanding all of the little extras is one of the main reasons (IMHO) that Disney has cut back on those things. If you get something then great but if not it really shouldn't be an issue!

The program costs Disney more money than average guests' visit does (especially for the staffing) yet the offer a considerable discount on it. I think that is fantastic! I not only appreciate the discount but the opportunity to experience something that most guests do not get the chance to.

Personally I have taught my children that not every little thing deserves some sort of accolade or reward. The experience itself is sufficient :)

Mel, you are so sweet. I've already downloaded a ton of your journal pages...this could be a whole new DISign undertaking. I would love to have one for Juliana for Captivating Moments and one for Katrina for Synergy in Science, both in October, if you would feel like taking these certificates on as a project. They would be fantastic for our homeschool portfolios!!

We just got back from our 10 day trip to the world. My kids took 2 YES classes.

They took Disney's World of Physics: Properties of Motion on our first day Aug. 20th. They said it was ok but they didn't love it like I thought they would. We met at MK at 9am, there were a whole bunch of kids for this class. First they broke off into younger 8-11 and older 12-17(my kids were older). Then the older kids were put into 3 groups of about 10. Then off they went. I am not really sure what they did because we did not go with them but they enjoyed going back stage at HM and learning how it worked. They also did Stitch which they said was boring and Mickey's Philamagic which they said was OK. My kids are High schoolers and said the physics were very simple (stuff they learned in7th grade).

My DD and her 2BFF took Disney's Animation Magic at HS yesterday Aug 28th. My DD was excited about taking this class as she is an art student at an arts high school and she loves learning how to draw cartoons. She and her friends did not enjoy this class at all. Again she was in the older class and all they drew was Mickey (she could do this when she was 5). They said the rest of the time the instructor just talked to them. I was hoping this could be a introduction to a possible career choice for her.

All in all I was happy we did the YES program, the people were nice and the tickets were amazing. We got 8 day hoppers with WP&more for a great price.
I do however think the program should maybe do more with the older kids.

Mel.

You. Are. AWESOME!!

Love, love, love these! Thank you ever so much. :)

I wondered -- I saw that you weren't taking any requests on the DISign thread right now. I need a First Haircut/Harmony Barber Shop journal page -- mom2cgj did two cute pages for me but I always hate asking one person for too much stuff. So I'll wait for your big October comeback and make an official request then!

I promise to sprinkle pixie dust your way for your DGD's class in January. Thanks again!

It would be cool if Disney offered a certificate on their YES site to print out. Something like the one above!
:)

Thankyou sooo much for that. It will definitely be printed out when we get home. Had an awesome day yesterday at Hollywood studios. We got to film a commercial there! Off to epcot!:)

:thumbsup2. All is good, that's what is wrong with the written word. We're notnpeople that ask or expect things. In fact our room here in all star music didn't start off too well, the rug under the sink was soaking wet, we scaled maintence and they sent someone up the next morning. Turns out the people next door overflowed their tub and it came thru. Maintence put towels down:confused3. We Called again and said it was still soaked, and they brought a huge blowers to dry it out. They called us apoogizing, offered to change our room. But it was easier for us to stay, listen to the fan than uproot our daughter to move. We didn't expext anything, just happy to be in Disney. Jenna has autism and moving the room would notnhave been a good thing, she had her dole all set up!:)

I hate to hear this! My dd13 loves drawing also, and I moved her from Wild by Nature to the Animation class when it opened up. I hate to hear this was pretty boring. Can you give me anymore information on what exactly they did? Did they stay in the animation classroom the whole time? Thanks

I know this isn't directed at me, but my DD also thought the animation class was boring. She loves to draw, loves art, but didn't care for this class at all. There was a lot of sitting and listening to descriptions of different techniques used in animation and while the material could be more interesting, it just wasn't. Much of it was over the heads of the group she was in (younger kids) and they just didn't 'get it'. The words were new and difficult to spell, and I know for my DD, having a handout with each of the terms and a description would have been helpful in following along with what the CM was saying. Also, they switched our CM out twice during that class, which just made the whole thing very disjointed. Wild by Nature on the other hand was fantastic. :)

Thanks...guess I should have stuck to Wild By Nature:headache:

She said they also did a flip book but weren't given enough time to finish it. They walked around and the instructor talked about the history of Hollywood Studios. The kids also made a storyboard with pictures they were given and had to act it out. That's all she remembered.

My 13yo and 8 yo daughters took the class on Tuesday. They both loved their classes and had no complaints
