Disney Y.E.S. Program

Is it likely that classes open up if someone cancels? I have both my children registered for 1 class each on sept 26th but would love to add one more. I wish I knew about this program more than one month before our trip, better late than never,

I can only speculate, but given that the tix are non-refundable I'm guessing it's not exactly "likely." I've been watching daily for a particular class to reopen and I haven't seen any changes in it or the classes around it. :confused3

For anyone interested in some information about the "Making Waves with a Marine Career", I have some info in my TR on page 9, regarding our experience.

.

Thanks for sharing your review of the Making Waves with a Marine Career class. Sounds like a great class.

We did two classes in June as part of a middle school class trip.

Energy and Waves in the MK. No parting gifts for this one.

Science of Imagineering. Major score here! Lanyards with name badge, notebook with pen

The kids also got string bags at the end of the two programs- not sure if they were connected to either of the classes, or maybe both.

Just want to report back on these two items: Walking through the International Gateway for an EPCOT class and using the premium tickets for mini golf

I have read a few reports of people who were allowed to enter through the IG. I have also read that it isn't permitted. I was planning to walk over to the IG the evening before our class (Ocean Discoveries in September) and ask. I don't want to take a taxi to the front of the park if I don't have to. If you don't mind, will you report back and let us know if you are able to enter that way?

We ended up just taking a cab from the Beach Club instead of risking walking to the IG and having to turn around and walk back to take a cab. So I don't have an answer for this one. I think the cab cost $11 so it was not a big deal.

Thanks for the information. We're staying at the Boardwalk for the first half of our trip and it would be great if we could walk over to play mini golf using our tickets, rather than having to pay separately for it.

We had no problem using our Premium YES tickets for mini golf at Fantasia Gardens.

You took a cab from the Beach Club to the International Gateway???
Wouldn't that take longer than walking the 5 minutes?

I assume they meant to the front entrance where the class meets.

Without even reading the original post from this thread am guessing they took the cab b/c if you try to enter IG too early (i.e YES CLASS) you may not get in via this way.....

Anyone have any info/reviews on Wild by Nature? :goodvibes

I posted my review on here awhile back. maybe search the thread for more info?
Anyway we did WBN last October and my kids loved it, they were 12 and 9 at the time. You do a lot of walking and will ride the safari at the end. Be sure to bring along your own water bottle and def. be sure to pay attention to your leader!:thumbsup2 Have fun!

I had no idea these classes existed, but my two boys would LOVE them. There is a "Science of Imagineering" series of DVDs that they adore and they are enormous science geeks.

We will be traveling in the second week of December. Do they ever have open enrollment classes that time of year? I don't even care about getting the discounted tickets -- I just want them to be able to take one of these classes!

Classes are normally offered in January, February, June, July, August, September and October. We love the Science of Imagineering DVDs too (wonder if we could meet Asa at WDW? :D).

Oh shoot! I'll definitely keep this in mind for future trips! Maybe a January 2014 trip is in our future!

Yes. It was terrible. Especially since there is like no way for a cab to even get to the International Gateway so that meant the cab driver had to pick us up at the Beach Club and drive us all the way around the EPCOT resorts and drop us at the Boardwalk - that was the closest point - and we had to walk from there. So I am thinking you are probably correct, it would be faster to just walk. :crazy2:

But for the YES class that met at the front of EPCOT before the park opened, and since Disney does not provide transportation to the front of the park from the EPCOT resorts, only to the IG, and since this was discussed in several posts in this thread one of which I quoted in my last post, we decided the cab to the front of the park was easier rather than risk walking to the IG and not being able to walk through at 8:00AM. Others were curious if walking through to the front of the park was an option and I was reporting back. I hope that clarifies it for you. :thumbsup2

I got it now.:yay:
So does anyone know if the IG is open at 8:00?

Yes, for those with early breakfast ADRs or those meeting inside the park for tours. We don't know for certain if they will allow us to enter if we are meeting YES groups outside the front entrance. Some have been allowed through, others have been turned away.

Checking in again. I think I read on here that there are January classes right? If so, what part of January usually has classes. Also, when would those classes go up?

Thank you. Hope my 14 y/o's aren't bored. We'll remember water and they better listen. :thumbsup2

We just took the Energy and Waves class last week. Not only was there no parting gift but they took back our name tags. Apparently there is concern that someone could sneak behind the scenes with the name tag. Last year we took the Animation Magic class and the kids got to keep the character (Scorcerer Mickey) that they drew!

Oh and also we asked about mini-golf at Epcot guest services and they said our tickets were good for mini-golf before 4pm. However we never did find the time to go.

We just got back from the wild by nature class. It was interesting. Frustrating too, I know my daughter loves to talk and jump into conversation and ask questions, but Josh, our leaderjust kept ignoring her. He did try in the beginning to includebher but within an hour, you could see he had enough. They gave out little clips each time we did something right. At the end we counted and they gave a small certificate (5x7) may e to the person who had the most clips. Then took allnthe clips back. My dd13 asked if she could at least keepnher name tag. Was told no, was upset that she received no momentous from this class. I'm pretty disappointed at the lack of " pixie dust" that wasn't spread.
